In 1927 Albert L. Luce, Sr. recognized the need and opportunity for safe, economical school bus transportation. Designed into the first bus which he built are some safety features still being used today. Other new developments followed as he formed a company during the depression years that today is Blue Bird Body Company which operated seven plants. The All American transit school bus is a further testimony to his insight. Blue Bird buses are used in every state, every province in Canada and have formed the backbone of the transportation system throughout Central America and other countries around the world. This is the story of a vision becoming reality.
