What do you think?

Witchcraft: Exploring the World of Wicca
Today's witches want you to see witchcraft as a respectable religion, a sensible worldview. They want you to see witches as "the pagan next door," not as hags in black, riding brooms on a moonlit night. But there is more to this pagan PR than demolishing stereotypes. In the last three decades, Hawkins writes, America and much of Western Europe have seen a resurgence of the occult, including witchcraft and other forms of neopaganism. A storm is brewing on the religious horizon. The church must be prepared.

I own this book so I know what ridiculous drivel is out there about Paganism and witchcraft. To believe in this book, you have to start with the notion that the Christian Bible is the infallible word of the one and only selfish, egotistical, and punishing God of the Christian faith. "In certain situations, nudity, ritual or otherwise, is considered natural for many witches." OH NO! Nudity? Natural? Holy crap! How could we possibly think that to show the human body is (gasp) natural? He goes on and on with Bible quotes condemning divination, sorcery, witchcraft and all forms of paganism in general. I am generally a very tolerant person and I do not expect everyone in the world to accept the practices and beliefs that I hold dear. It is only when I am confronted with the intolerant of this planet that my Libran thirst for justice starts showing through and I must defend my right to believe what I have concluded through my life experiences. The utter contempt and disdain that spews forth from the author is precisely why I turned to my earth based practices! I strive to love my planet and my neighbors and work daily to renew the complete connectedness of the universe. If this author, and all those whose hateful dogma cause them to condemn me and anyone who believes differently than themselves, can not bring themselves to accept that we don't all have to believe what they do? Then at least whisper your judgments quietly so the rhythm of my Goddess incantation doesn't get lost! Blessed Be!!
