Beautifullly set in the Swiss Alps. Such a wise grandmother who sees so much in spite of her failing eyes. We all fell in love with the characters’ hearts after despising the actions of some. I was fighting back sobs while reading aloud the ending paragraphs. ❤️❤️❤️

The author did an wonderful job illustrating how unforgiveness and bitterness can cloud a person's judgment, leading them down a path of anger, hatred, and destruction. Annette's transformation was wonderful to witness. She began as a proud and haughty young girl who used her influence to ruin another person's reputation, yet through difficult circumstances she was humbled, and watching the Lord transform her heart was beautiful.

I related most to Lucien's character. Here was a young boy who, because of unfortunate circumstances, grew up fatherless and deeply misunderstood. In an act of sheer meanness, he made a choice that altered someone else's life—and in turn completely changed his own. The sorrow, conviction, and repentance in Lucien's journey touched me deeply. I wept with him and rejoiced with him.

One of my favorite part of the book was Annette and Lucien talk about how Jesus had changed their hearts. For Annette, it was freedom from the hatred that had been consuming her. For Lucien, it was freedom from the guilt and shame of his actions. How perfect love casts out fear. When Jesus comes into a person's life, everything that is not of Him begins to lose its hold. His perfect love doesn't just cast out fear—it casts out hatred, bitterness, guilt, pride, and every form of ungodliness. 🥰

Grandmother was a wonderful example of wisdom, grace, and kindness. We all need someone like her in our lives.

I read this because it’s my niece and nephew’s favorite book. Very sweet book. Got me in the feels. Great lessons on faith, repentance, forgiveness, and the pure love of Christ.
