Ann Landers talks to teen-agers about sex

Rate this book
Straight talk about love and sex -- with answers to problems every teen-ager asks. This book puts the answers right on the line. Never before has the subject of teens and sex been discussed so openly and so honestly. It's wise, warmly entertaining, and written in some of the hardest-hitting prose ever to come from the pen of Ann Landers, the nation's most widely-read human relations columnist.

Ann Landers

Esther "Eppie" Pauline Friedman Lederer and Ruth Crowley were the main writers behind the public image of Ann Landers because of their popular syndicated advice column, "Ann Landers." For about 45 years, the column was a regular feature in many newspapers across North America. People would write her letters to seek her advice concerning their personal problems, and she would publish her advice in her columns. Her writing style was direct, and often critical. She would often upbraid a letter-writer with the quip, "Watch it, bub!" Her stated opinions often seemed customized to appeal to her predominantly female readership.

I don't recall anything from the book, but remember that my mother gave copies of this title to both my eldest sister and me when we were in our teens. This was the mid-60s, so pretty sure whatever Ann had to say at that point might not be completely relevant today. I had joined the service by the time my younger sister would have been old enough, so I don't know if she got a copy or if my other sister got a hand-me-down from the older one. :-) I'm sure my Mother meant well, as my father was certainly never going to have 'that talk,' that talk with me.

Written in 1963 so take some of the advice with a grain of salt. Ann is a helluva straight shooter and gives some progressive advice for what I think of the 60s. She doesn’t mince words and it gave me insight that teenagers have always been more or less the same. A funny read overall!

I remember reading this book as a teenager and laughing so hard I pulled a muscle in my back. I love Ann Landers, and this book is a classic, MUST READ for every generation.

Reads like it came from 1963, but still good.
