As Christians, we are holy rebels against the powers of darkness and the prince of this world. Yet many of us are confused. We have gone out to battle the enemy, only to return bloodied and wounded, emotionally torn by the experience. - Which is the Christian's major enemy: the world, the flesh, or the devil? - Should Christians rebuke the devil, or resist him? - Can Christians be demon-possessed? - Can spirits of lust, murder, or anger cause Christians to sin? - How much is worldliness affecting the thinking of the average Christian? A Holy Rebellion presents a Biblical strategy for spiritual warfare that defines the conflicts and answers the difficult questions believers are facing today.
This book was so much better than I expected it to be. I thought it would be a rather standard book about how the false and dangerous methods of ‘spiritual warfare’ that have become so popular in Christianity. Instead, it’s an encouraging study of the Christian’s fiercest enemies and the Bible’s promised defenses against them. Ice and Dean focus on building a strong biblical foundation for sanctification, evangelism, and spiritual warfare. That brings our focus away from an unhealthy preoccupation with and fear of Satan and his demons and refocuses it on our wonderful Savior and His promises. After that, they briefly contrast the almost superstitious practices that have become so popular, but only to refocus our attention on what the Bible actually teaches. It is very heartening and freeing. By the end of the book, you will be reminded just how simple yet how challenging the Christian walk really is. I would recommend this book to every Christian. It would make a wonderful book for every believer trying to become more mature in the faith. Please read it.
