Do you feel a little embarrassed about hugging trees? Do you secretly talk to them? If so, this book will be a haven of association and reassurance to you, as a large number of people from all walks of life – from botanical specialists to spiritualists to attorneys – share their experiences with nature communication.

The book is, however, not just a sentimental expression from tree-huggers. Dr Jim Conroy has a PhD in Plant Pathology. He explains the system of Cooperative Bio-Balance and provides practical techniques for holistically healing trees, plants and ecosystems. The twelve plant and tree stress factors are explained. Dr Conroy describes “feedback loops” and “internal biofunctionality.”

There are various suggested exercises that facilitate tree communication and healing given throughout the book, in step-by-step format. One can choose the exercises one feels comfortable with. In fact, if you have already been communicating with trees, you will probably find you have previously done many of the exercises, though perhaps not consciously. Definitely you will find some great new ideas to try too!

It is also a great book to give as a gift to those who do not believe in tree communication. It provides convincing examples of how active tree communication can improve your garden, and your own quality of life. Should you water your huge old Oak tree? How much mulch should you put around a tree? What to do about insect pests? Can the dry old dying tree be saved or better to cut it down? How can you ask your trees what they need and hear their responses? How can one learn and apply energy healing techniques?

The book touches on a wider range of topics too, such as the global shift from control-domination-superiority to cooperation-partnership-equality.

It is obvious that the authors have a wealth of knowledge and many years of experience in working with trees. I’m sure we’ll soon see more books and training courses from them.

“Tree Whispering” is a wonderful, inspiring book that I highly recommend to anyone who feels drawn to nature!
