I enjoyed it as a cliche, love story but cliche in a chic way. I love the way it ended with the call backs on how Rafe and Cassie met; very sweet.

This was the strangest holiday romance I've ever read. It has the starcrossed lovers Rafe and Cassie who ended their relationship 3 years prior for reasons that were just a little odd.
See Cassie was studying at Julliard when she met Rafe on Christmas Eve, but her good friend has AIDS and his parents want to send him away to avoid scandal so she takes him home to her parents in Alaska.
Confused yet? I kinda was.
But it gets more confusing. When she returns to NYC to bury her friend Cosmo near his partner, she encounters Rafe on, you guessed it, Christmas Eve!
Somehow they get back together. Basically because there really wasn't a reason for them to break up. But they each have secrets. Rafe's are rather freaky. His well to do parents we're killed after an affair gone wrong resulting in the rape of his sister.
Oye.
So needless to say, Rafe has a lot of baggage and it weighs down the story. It was really hard to like or relate to the main characters. The aunts/uncles moms/dads/siblings were more likable.
I have to say this is one Christmas story that did nothing for me.
