Drama High #4

Frenemies

Rate this book
South Bay High wouldn't be such a bad place to go to school if it weren't for all the drama. Not that Jayd Jackson's helping matters. She's right there in the center of it all--whether she wants to be or not. Maybe it just goes with the turf. After all, there's a reason they call this place Drama High. . . Jayd doesn't know what's going on with her girl, Nellie. Ever since she got named homecoming princess, she's been acting like Mickey and Jayd aren't her friends anymore, and she's even falling in deeper with Tania and her crew. It's amazing the girl can fit her new crown over that big head of hers. And then there's Jayd's boyfriend Jeremy. His aloof attitude is really getting on her nerves. Jayd's even starting to question his commitment, not to mention her own. Especially since lately, all she can think about is Rah--and that surprise kiss he planted on her the other day. . .

"Keep your friends close and your enemies closer". Well what if your friends really were your enemies? What if your enemies are the ones that truly have your back? Well that's a dream world but for Jayd her friends and her enemies had it out for her. Frenemies by L.Divine is apart of a series of books titled Drama High this book deals with teenage drama, relationships, and realistic events. You could lose a friend when their head gets to big. Jayds friend Nellie dumps her old friends for some new ones when she becomes homecoming princess nothing can be more realistic than that, this could happen to anyone who has a friend that becomes more popular than them. There are different types of drama but Frenemies is all about teenage drama. Jayds boyfriend is white and now she feels like he is not committed to their relationship but yet she cheated when Rah her ex kissed her. Even if the book is about teenagers it has relationships in it and this book is no different. Jayd may be confused about who she wants but she tries them all out till she finds the right one for her.

When I finished this book last saturday,I was satisfied but expected something more at the end. What happened in the end was not a suprise to me.Jayd made the right decision.Read closely and analyze this book as you read it.

When I was reading this book,I studied Jayd's character. The way she acted to certain situatons,is the same way I would have reacted. She talked the talked and walked the walk. When the author created Jayd, she created a real life character.
One of the conversation's with Jeremy was a great way to end the book.Throughout the book,when Jeremy didn't want to talk about his dad being a racist,or him being the baby daddy of Jayd's enemy Tania,he would buy Jayd a gift.During the costume ball or halloween ball,while their security from their school was dragging Tania away,she shouted;

"Jeremy's family doesn't like brown babies, and Jeremy and his brother's know it" while she is grinning a devil smile.

But when Jayd confronted Jeremy about it,he didnt say any thing about it.He just a bought her a gift.Typical Jeremy.

When you read the drama high series, you can not really read just one book. You have to read the first book and then continue up to when the series stops.Try it,you will enjoy it.

I love this book because it shows how you think that people are your not really your friends the way that you think that they are and that sometimes your friends are you enemies.

Frenemies
Jayd has a psychic dream of her mother giving her a lesson about friendship. On the way to school, Bryon and Jayd walk together. She tells him about Rah’s return. He tells her maybe the universe wants her to make another choice. After Rah’s kiss and words about Jeremy trying to buy her Jayd is having doubts. While approaching campus (in Jeremy’s ridE) Jayd gets a call from Rah and makes an excuse for Jeremy to leave her at the front gate. Rah wants to know if Jayd can braid his hair but it's not a good day. So, he asks to see her anyway. But she knows he’s a distraction and tells him no (even though that’s not what she REALLY wants). Nellie and Mickey are at it again, because Nellie’s ego is out of control now that she’s on the court. Jayd tries to get them to talk but ends up telling them to work it out. Jayd sees Tania. in the lineup and without warning throws up on Nellie. She also notices she’s wearing a diamond ring. To make it worse, Nellie sees Nigel and Mickey walk off together, glares at Jayd, and walks off.

After a mandatory meeting, Jayd sees Tanya and Jeremy having a heated discussion Jayd tries to get Jeremy to tell her what he and Tanya were talking about. He looks like he wants to but can’t get it out. He says it’ll blow over. Later, Jayd asks Big Mama what magic she can use to get Jeremy to confide in her. She tells her trust takes time and there’s no spell for it. Instead, she tells her to concentrate on what she wants to happen from this and write it down. Jayd has another dream that she’s on the football field and Jeremy is marrying Tanya and there’s a bright flame that burns Jayd. When she wakes up there’s a red mark on her arm. Big Mama tells her the truth well be revealed in time and so will her friends.

At school, Jayd runs into Mrs. Toni and they talk about Nellie. Mrs. Toni tells her give it time. The Homecoming clique will blow her off. They pick someone new every year to adopt but rarely do any of em stick. Jayd tries to get it out of Chance on the way to taking her to meet up with Jeremy at the pizza spot, but he’s staying out of it. When she gets there, she finds Nellie hanging out with Tania and her crew. Jayd tries to call them out, but Nellie refuses to see she’s been played (Even when Jayd tries to check her). Jayd gets up in Tania’s face over trying to steal her man, but Jeremy takes her out of there. Jeremy tells Jayd she can’t always pop off at the mouth and play Tania’s mind games. Jayd thinks about how she REALLY wants Tania gone. Jeremy lets slip that Tania will be leaving soon.

Rah calls Jayd before work and asks if she wants to hang out at the studio with him, Nigel, and Mickey that night, but Jayd says she has work to do Jayd calls Rah again and gets him to pick her up after work. Rah convinces Jayd to come by and braid his hair, but Trish comes over with Nigel’s girlfriend Tasha. Before Jayd can call and warn Mickey she and Nigel show up. Jayd plays it off like Mickey came to pick her up and they leave. The guys text after their girls leave but Jayd is just ready to go home.

Jeremy picks Jayd up for a date but neglects to tell her it’s for a surprise bbq at his parent's house Nellie is there But it does look like she wants to tell her the real deal. Tania is also there. Jayd gets hit in the arm by a football on the arm she got burned. Jeremy tries to touch it but she tells him not to so he gets pissed and calls her a baby. Jayd has had enough and gets her friend China to take her home.
Seth finally confirms what Jayd knew. He says Jeremy wants a paternity test but Tania doesn’t. Tania wants him to sign over his rights so she can marry the Persian guy her parents hooked her up with. She confronts Jeremy who gives her a nonchalant answer “It is what it is.” Jayd asks does he want to talk about it. He says no and that’s that. Jayd makes a potion that will make all her friends more pliable.

On the way to school, the perfume doesn’t have much effect because Jeremy has a cold. He tells Jayd she needs to stop trying to control everything) all the time and let some things slide. He says he didn’t tell her about Tania because he knew how vicious she could be. He says he’s just going to have to trust when he tells her things. Jayd makes a plea to Mickey to rescue Nellie. She says she thinks Tania and Laura are holding something over her head. Nigel tells her (Mickey) that sometimes you have to knock some sense into your homies. Mickey doesn’t agree but she says she’s down. Jayd tells Big Mama later that the perfume didn’t work, but Big Mama tells her that the perfume was supposed to make her more confident in what she expects not to manipulate her friends into doing what she wanted them to. She also tells Jayd she has a control problem.

Nellie, (with her new crew) comes over to front Mickey about Nigel. Jayd tries to interfere but Mickey tells her to mind her business. Mickey tells her to get over herself Nellie says she can’t believe Nigel choose her over her but they’re both trifling and hopes they get caught. Mickey says she better not be threatening her. Nellie says what if she is. Then a fight breaks out. Chance hops in and gets his eye cut by Mickey’s jewelry. After it's over tells Jayd Mickey was wrong. He says Mickey is the reason Mr. Weiner a reason to have fuel for his fire.

While they’re hanging out at the mall, Jayd asks Jeremy if his father has something against black women. Jeremy conveniently has to go to the bathroom. Tania comes over and “shares” her pregnancy news with Jayd and then tells her to tell Jeremy to tell his parents to hurry up getting the parental work signed. She knows they don’t want any brown babies. Finally, Jeremy tells her to just leave it.Jayd won’t leave it alone and finally, Jeremy tells her his dad has a problem with “loud people” aka black women. To appease Jayd (or shut her up) Jeremy buys Jayd the expensive bag she’s had her eye on. Jayd had a dream that Tanya poisons Nellie at the masquerade with an apple full of worms.

Nellie comes up to Jayd and school inquiring about her and Mickey. She wants to know if Mickey said anything about her and if she does let her know. Jayd says she has no loyalty to her anymore She’s on her own. Jayd goes to the mall with Mickey and tries to return the bag Jeremy gave her. The salespeople tell her she can’t without a receipt and the shopping bag which indicates they think she stole the bag and Jayd wastes no time calling them out on their bs. Then they see Misty and Nellie. Tania and Laura. Misty tells her that Mickey is in deep shit because the principal is Mickey investigating her and Nigel’s absences. Mickey walks up to Nellie throws her lemonade and and slaps her down to the ground, This attracts security and Tania is quick to jump in. Jayd says she fell and slipped and Mickey was trying to help her up. Tania says she’s lying. The guard says it’s her call. Nellie just doesn’t say anything. So, the guards just say they’ll clean up the mess. Jayd is gonna tell Big Mama about her drama but she and her man are having some drama of their own when she gets home.

At school, Jayd tells Jeremy she wants to return the bag. He blows up and calls her difficult. He says he needs to save her own money so she can help out her family or whatever. He questions isn’t that why she won’t let him see where she lives? She says it's because she’s embarrassed to bring a white boy to the hood. He says that’s why he didn’t tell her about her dad because race doesn’t matter to him. He tells her to just be appreciative and grateful. Then Jayd throws the purse at him.

At the Halloween dance, Jade confronts Tania when she spots the apple. She tells her to take a bite or either give the apple to Laura. The crowd is chanting. Tania says food makes her nauseous. Laura snatches it and takes a bite. Worms emerge from the apple. Jayd finds out that if Nellie didn’t become their new pledge Tania would put the pictures on the internet. Tania’s last parting words are don’t think she (Jayd) can get anywhere with her baby daddy and the gifts are just from guilt. She has a whole closet full. Rah tells her whenever she wants to come back and kisses her again. All the girls make up. Mickey and Jayd make Nellie agree to be their personal servant as a punishment. Nellie validates that what Tania said is true.

Picking her up from work, Jayd and Jeremy get into a heated discussion about Jayd being open to other beliefs. Again Jeremy says she should chill out more. Jeyd gets on for not wanting to fight for the baby. He says if he does his father will disown him. Jayd has no respect for his laid back attitude. Then she brings up the gifts and he doesn’t see the problem with it. Jayd ends the relationship and the conversation. She says she’s not for sale. Jeremy just doesn’t get it. Jeremy tries to plead with her but Jayd says she needs some space. He leaves and gives her the bag. Lsyrt, Mickey and Nellie want to hang. They want her to go after Rah but for once Jayd’s happy without a man. They all hang at the studio later and Rah dedicates a song to Jayd and tells her if Jeremy couldn’t see she’s perfect how she is he’s stupid. Chance ages. Jayd has a dream Mickey’s man comes up the school with his crew and tries to snatch up Nigel. Her mom cuts into her head and tells her separate her emotions from her visions.

My Thoughts:
I feel like Jeremy never even stood a chance. It's only Book 4 and already he’s OUT and Jaydd will end back up with Raheem. Why are they romanticizing this trifling fool?! He CHEATED! Now you can say it was the seventh grade but HE HAS A GIRLFRIEND. A girlfriend that he’s bold as ish about while he makes it no secret he wants Jayd. You can say well at least he’s upfront about what he does. Yeah, BUT is that REALLY the kind of drama you want in your life, Jayd? Jeremy might have been just a white boy to these people but the only thing I had an issue with about him is that he sold and smoked weed. At least he didn't try to be a player. But you dump him for someone that is? Why do we make such STUPID decisions when it comes to men as black women? Jayd as a character is starting to irritate me slightly because Jeremy IS right. Jeremy’s father isn’t right. Not all black women are loud and ally. But Jayd as a character does give a bad representation of black women because she DOESN’T have any chill. She’s always in the middle of something. Always up in someone’s face. Always ready to kick someone behind. All that .. just isn’t called for all the time. If I was a guy it would turn me off to have a girlfriend like Jayd. Even though it makes the book more entertaining to read about a black girl with *sass* and *fire* it’s like Wow! Jayd is really starting to rub me the WRONG way. Then she can be AGGAIN too pushy and too into stuff that’s going on in other people’s families. It might SEEM like a good trait that what she gets answers BUT.. some stuff she REALLY needs to leave alone. It also annoyed me that she wanted to take the bag back. Yeah, that was just plain STUPID! Sometimes women (old-young) trip about a man spending his money because they have this thing. I don’t need you to do that for me. Yeah. Ok. BUT. IJS I think it’s crazy to get offended if your man wants to do something nice for you or want to spoil you. It’s not a indication that you can’t. JUST ACCEPT THE GIFFTt… And so WHAT? He got Tanya a closet full of girfts. Was Jeremy too laid back? Maybe about some things. I’m not sure how I feel about his lax attitude about his kid. Jayd was like how could you not care more, but maybe Jeremy just isn’t a kid person. It happens. It might sound cold-natured but. Then maybe he’s young right now but maybe later he’ll take more of an involvement in his child’s life. Maybe he just needs some head space. I think Jayd just REACTS! This is HIS situation to work through. She could have let him do that. I do agree he should have been upfront with her about it tho, but it wasn’t worth her ending the relationship. I don’t even think him buying her that bag was worth breaking up over. Jayd was always half in and half out of that relationship anyway. I think she liked the excitement of being with someone of another race but she really wasn’t feeling that boy at all because she didn’t even want to take him to her neighborhood because she was ashamed of being clowned and THAT is not LOVE.As for Nellie, I’m not sure I would have fought that hard to get her friendship back.

*SPOILERS!!!
Frenemies is one of many books in the drama high series it's about a high schooler named Jayd Jackson who endures a lot of drama through her social life at school as well as her home life. The author of the book is L.Divine she was born and raised in Compton and has also lived in Jamaica. When not writing books L.Divine spends her time guest lecturing and opening workshops for young adult writers. I chose to read Frenemies book because I knew there would be conflict between characters as well as drama.
Jayd, the main character comes from a long line of people with spiritual abilities who practice voodoo, when at home she often practices with her mother she attends a called South Bay high school . Her group of friends consist of Nellie, Jeremy, and Mickey. There are a few major conflicts in the book Frenemies one being that Jayd’s best friend Nellie recently got picked to be South Bay’s homecoming queen and now doesn't have time for anything but her fake friends like Tania and her crew another being that Jayd’s boyfriend Jeremy may or may not be keeping a secret in regards to his loyalty and commitment to Jayd and lastly Jayd just got back in touch with her good friend Rah, their relationship is nothing but complicated and to make matters worse Rah sneaks in a surprise kiss on Jayd. These conflicts drive the story by it having a big influence on Jayd and the choices she makes The conflict is resolved by Jayd getting rid of all the toxic people in her life and starting new. As the story progresses you’ll see Jayd’s transitions in regards to who her true friends are. Some majors themes in this books include friendship, drama, and romance.
I enjoyed this book because it has lots of juicy drama that keeps you on your toes, I also really enjoyed the development of characters over time.
If you love books that have lots of flavorful drama that keeps you on your toes then I highly recommend it!

i love this book , i mean i like all the other books but this is probably my favorite series so far. i really like this book because it’s so relatable to what i been through and it just teaches me how to calm my nerves. I picked this rate because the life and taught lessons it gives me as an individual and a person. i’m glad i read this book because i been thinking about how to handle things differently and how to watch who i trust and hang around.
i think someone should actually read this one in particular because we are getting to the age where you put your self in a situation you didn’t wanna be in and you have to make choices where you weren’t ready.

I’m so glad Jeremy and Jayd broke up. Having a baby mama in high school is genuinely crazy and he wasn’t taking it seriously like at all. Jayd is better than me cause why it take her the last 20 pages of the book to dump him?? She should have broke up with him by the second time he refused to talk about it. I was just about to start shipping Rah and Jayd and then I was reminded he cheated on her with her cousin. Why does Jayd only date red flags??? Drama high is still peak fiction though

Jayds boyfriend Jeremy’s attitude is bothering Jayd. Jayds starting to question his commitment.

Jayd is a something else.

I have read Drama High: Frenemies (Drama High series book #4) in couple times. Drama High: Frenemies (Drama High series book #4) by L.Divine was a good and excellent story. It’s well written and inspiration for young teenagers.

Rah is a good his influence positive and negative energy toward to Jayd. He is the only person who understand Jayd’s situation. He wants Jayd back to being his girlfriend but he has his own situation problems with his current jealousy girlfriend Tisha. Tisha doesn’t like Jayd to being around with Rah. Rah and Jayd were using to be middle school sweethearts

Mickey was never being jealous to Nellie’s accusations. Mickey didn’t turn on her back to Nellie or get mad at Nellie over man. After Nellie won her princess crown at the homecoming event, she wasn’t being a good friends to Mickey and Jayd. She wants being popular and hang with popular friends at South Bay high. Nellie couldn’t let it go because Nigel choose Mickey over Nellie. Nellie was judgmental, disrespectful and unprofessional to Nigel. Nellie wasn’t Nigel type in female.

Tania and Laura were using Nellie to get back at Jayd and Mickey. They’re the worst than Misty. They want to destroy Nellie because she won the junior princess crown at the homecoming.

Jayd is a something else. She doesn’t know how to let it go because she always want to get her way to question Jeremy about Tania and his family. She is continuing to hiding him from Raheem. She wasn’t a good girlfriend to Jeremy. Jeremy wants to enjoy his relationship with Jayd but Jayd always complaining about his situation with Tania and his family. I’m happy that they’re no longer as couple and continue to being friends because Jayd is a drama queen.

I wish Jeremy should open his situation with Tania and his family without buying guilt gift to Jayd. Jayd and Jeremy don’t know how to communicate, listening and understanding to each other.

Misty always get on Jayd’s business but she couldn’t focus on herself. First, she wants KJ to herself but KJ is using Misty for getting back with Jayd in his life.

Mrs Bennett and Mrs. Patterson are my least favorite characters in this book.

I can’t wait to reread Lady J and rest of casts for this series.

Good read:

This book was really good because I could easily relate to it. The protagonist, Jayd, has a boyfriend who is not the same race as her. Even though she tries to fight for their relationship, her ex boyfriend, Raheem, still loves her and tries to get back together with her. This book makes me want to continue with the series because I really like Raheem, and I want to see if Jayd ends up going out with him.I also want to see how Jayd comes into her powers. I also want to know what happens with her other friend, Mickey, who is cheating on her powerful wealthy boyfriend with one of the school's football players.

I think frenemies was about not trusting the ones that say there you friends because one day they could back fire on you, and u wondlnt have no one to go to.jayde did a good job telling use the readers how she felt about tania, micky, etc.Jayde has had a good attitude but now its not so hot because she jermey and her, have been dating, and even though they have there ups an downs jermey and her still love eachother truely, But now jadye has found out that jermey got tania pregnat, and tania keeps bragging about it like a lilttle brat she is.jayde is so fed up with drama that all she needa do is talk to momma, so she can clear her head.

All jayde wants is the truth from jermey about the baby, but he keeps beating around the bush and skipping every little detail about tania and the baby, its not like jayde will get mad,but if he dont tell her the truth then maybe she will be mad.. Jermey needs to grow up and stop acting immature, because one day jayde isnt go be there for him.

**I have a frenemy. I’m struggling with having her in my life and she's not going away, so I read books about how other people might handle this. Watch for a few books titled Frenemies, because I'm reading them all. **

I quite enjoy my teen novels (The Clique, Vampire Diaries, etc) but the main character was so judgmental of her friends, yet was supposed to be a sympathetic character that I was reminded of the frenemy I'm trying to solve.

I can’t handle Ebonics when I hear it, so having to read it was T-O-R-T-U-R-E. There's a way to write in a certain character's accent-specific voice (See Katherine Stockett's The Help for the right way) but if I don’t enjoy the writing, I can’t enjoy a book.

This book is about three friend in high school named Jayd, Mickey, and Nellie that are facing problems in and outside of school. They end up not being friends because of all of the drama that surrounds them. Jayd has a new boyfriend named Jeremy and her exboyfrind wants to be back in the picture. Mickey has a boyfriend but is cheating on him with Jeremy's best friend. Nellie gets caught up in the popular crowd, but little does she know they are only using her. Jayd is determined to get her friends back at any cost. I like this book overall because it talks about real life things that get people caught up in high school.

This book is about a group of girls who are best friends. One day one girl starts to brag about becoming homecoming queen then her friends get mad at her and stops to talk to her. Then another stars to hang out with someone they don't like so then they stop talking to each other. Then Jayd starts to try to bring they back together.

I can connect to this to myself. It's because I used to disagree with my friends and not talked to them. I can be in the same place as Jayd and her friends. I can she everyones point of view.

I gave this book 4 stars. I would give that book 4 stars because I can really connect to this. I would recommend this book to kids in high school.

Jayd is back with her girls-girl? Ever since Nellie won homecoming she has been acting all snooty booty. And are Jeremy and Jayd good forever?
I can make a text to world connection. When I was in 5th grade, my best friend was bragging on abotu how she won something and then she stated hanging with the popular girls. And it really felt bad to me. Well it turns up, she got annoying and no one cared anymore so I became best friends with all the Popular girls :)
I rated this 5 stars. I love this series I can't wait till more come out.

What iv'e learned from this amazing book Drama High:Frenemies is that when your to best friends are fighting and they say you have to pick one of their sides don't pick either side try to help them out becasue no one likes loosing some one important in thier life. That's what the main character Jayd Jackson finds out in the book is that it is better to have a friend then loose one.She and her friend Mickey had to let their other friend Nellie go becasue she betrayed them and she causes dram between everyone.

"FRENEMIES"---This book talks about how they whent from bffs to enemies....

This book was Ok. I didnt catch it so boring but then not so exciting. I dint have a problem reading it but i'll choose not to read it again. I suggest this book to people that like drama in High School. I read this whole book and it still didn't put that much excitement. This book wassnt so great it talked about enimes and friendship which happened in the daily basis and i go threw all the time and see for myself and i dont need to read a book that talks about it all the time...

THE name of my book is called frenimies, i think it is about a teenage girl that has a friend that has a boyfriend name jeremy and the girl name is nova but there realationship was really serious oh.. i forgot the main character her name is jayde. but this book was really good to me because it was really interesting and the reason why i picked out this book is because, frenimies is kinda like a lesson to me and the lesson is that they are trying to teach me that it is not okay to have a friend to be a friend and that is what i learned about this book called frenimies.

Jayd's still rockin. This episode is all about frenemies. And the decaying current relationship with her way chill white boyfriend from the hills. Her best friend tries to switch cliques to the popular kids because she won homecoming princess. They have to get her back! Also Jayd wants to have sports drinks with her old flame, but she totally broke his heart. She is continually harnassing the power of her lineage and trying to stay above the drama. This is why I love her.
