About the author

Violet Blue has authored and edited over 40 books, including five (Bronze, Silver and Gold) IPPY award-winners, some of which are now in eight translations. Violet was a guest on the Oprah Winfrey Show, when Ms. Winfrey featured Violet's book on women and pornography (11/17/09). That book is also excerpted and featured on Oprah Winfrey's website, as well as in O, The Oprah Magazine.

I am not really sure how to rate this book it is more like a how to guide about sexual fetishes. I read this book and I really didn't learn anything new about myself, because I know what my fetishes are. I gave this book 3.5 because the book was well written and covered a lot of topics to help a person who is not sure of what turns them on. So if you are not sure or think you are the only person who gets turned on by certain things then this book can be a help to you

Great place to start. I love Violet Blue's writing (although she could do with a slightly more careful editor). I believe in a sex-positive world, a world where education and acceptance trumps stereotypes and this is a great addition to that. As my father always said, you shouldn't decide you don't like it until you try it... (Of course he was talking about food but what's a bite here or there?)

kinda silly and juvenile, but sex is too much fun not to be educated about. One of my ex'es recommended this book to me and we had fun with it. I recommend based on its comic value and suggest any interested couples use their imagination before seeking this books advice.

I bought a few books recently to learn more about fetishes as research for my work as a therapist. I was hoping this book would go in depth about particular fetishes. Very informative as a "how to" guide for people who have these particular fetishes and would like to explore their fetish, but not so much as far as providing educational information to help treat people struggling with feelings of confusion and shame connected to their fetish. That's a book I can't seem to find and maybe doesn't even exist at this point. Definitely a topic that needs to be written about more with its increasingly relevance in sexual trends.

Blue's not a traditionally learned person, so reading Fetish Sex was less of an arduous journey than many books about human sexuality. However, that also made it such that the book is less academic and somewhat less trustworthy than the academic ones. She does discuss fetish in a pro-sex way that is not usual in mainstream writing and her first-person anecdotes about her own experiences are not without value.

I'm not quite sure how to rate this book other than to give it 5 stars because it's meant as more of an info/documentary read and not as a plot oriented novel which totally works for me because it's always good to be more knowledgeable about types of fetishes and how fetishism works. Good general info read.

I expected it to be sort of one story, but it was more like a weirdly ordered encyclopedia on the things people can be into. With a couple of really nice erotica short stories in between.
