Norman Collins born 3 October 1907, died 1982, was a British writer, and later a radio and television executive, who became one of the major figures behind the establishment of the Independent Television (ITV) network in the UK. This was the first organisation to break the BBC’s broadcasting monopoly when it began transmitting in 1955.

Rare has hen's teeth, this book. I had to source a copy from a library at the other end of the country. If you can get your hands on a copy it is a fantastic read. Collins is my favourite author. Read 8 so far with only one duffer, The Bat that Flits. Typical characters who are both funny, annoying and well developed. This is possibly my favourite so far. Almost tragic that incredible writers like this will be consigned to history. Fortunately his masterpiece (although I actually think this is better) is still in print. About to start the equally as difficult to get hold of The Three Friends. Hopefully I will enjoy it as much as this .
