Part of a series of Bible-study guides by various authors, this isn't as good as the standalone book I've read by Dee Brestin. However, there aren't many studies on 1-3 John, so it's nice to have this. I do get more out of my Bible-reading if I'm rereading the verses and answering questions based on them.

At times I thought the author gave too much of her interpretation. For example, when John writes in 2 John about not giving our support to people who spread false teaching, she extended that to include things like television and the false messages it spreads. I don't think John would necessarily want us not to have televisions or radios in our homes, if he was around today, but I do think it's important for us to be able to talk about what we take in and whether it aligns with our values.
