I knew going in this was going to be a light and easy read with some racy scenes thrown in for good measure. However I was hoping for a bit more focus on the main character Geri's experience of working in a strip club at night, balanced with her high-flying career in finance. Instead this became more about the other characters around her, with extended backstories which I didn't care about, and a farcical subplot about combating sexism in the workplace. Quite an entertaining read but is far from the revealing "confession" tale that the title promises.
It was okay. Although most of the time I became confused with the lead character, Geraldine.
Somehow I don't see Geraldine as a strong character as what the author want her to be. She's not really attracting reader's attention and I feel that she's annoying and irritating at times.
In addition, the author also needs to brush his or her writing skills. The story was kind of jumping from scene to scene and there are parts that were not elaborated enough, apart from the sex scene. Yes, I know this is all about the lapdancers but can we also get further information on other things unrelated to sex? Like for example, what Declan was planning to do in the future? And Irena and Simon finally met each other and then what? What about Suzy? And Ryan?
I guess there's more to explore if only the author wasn't too caught up with sex scenes.
Sensuality is to women what macho is to men. Not all women are aware of this and if they are they don’t know how to use it to their advantage. It has its share of sleaze and sex which I think I am mature enough to read and handle. Don’t try to find an ethical or moralistic point of view, it does not wander there – it is out and out a woman’s point of view who wants to make it big and on her terms in a man’s world.
This book was awful, and I don't say that lightly. I didn't finish it despite getting over 200 pages in, because I couldn't face one more 'so and so's story'. It felt like it was written by a man trying to be a woman, the dialogue was clumsy, the descriptions dry and the sex ridiculous. The main character was two dimensional and unlikable, and her supporting cast was not much better. Bought from a charity shop when looking for something different and hopefully good for a laugh, but it was a bitter disappointment. I've read way better fan fiction. Don't waste your time.
after a long dry patch of not reading this was an amazing holiday. Incredibly hot and steamy which even though it's confessions of a lapdancer I still wasn't expecting. Really good easy read.
This book was a really fun and interesting ride! We not only follow the main character, we also follow the stories of other very loveable characters. You obviously cannot really relate to any of the characters if you are not or have never been a lapdancer but we all can relate when it comes to two things: 1, when you fail at your dream you do the next best thing to survive 2, some men are real assholes, and others are beautiful creatures. Oh Aramis, if you only could jut exist in my life for a short while...
I was entertained, yes there is quite a lot of sex in the book but it was not a porno!Coupled with this you find intrigue and drama. What else do you need to pass the time?!
I am sure there are a lot of so called feminists that might think "how dumb was she to think she gain power by taking of her clothes?". My answer to that is: you have probably never seen a man become vulnerable while you stand naked in front of him, in other words have more sex for he love of God!
Female investment banker suffering from "the boys club" gains empowerment, freedom and love by moonlighting as a dancer at a strip club. Uh huh. Strange melange of chick lit and tawdry porn lit. The secondary characters are all believable, but the central figure is not. But who knows? All fairly tawdry stuff. Rated R18 for frequent sexualised nudity, sex scenes, frequent coarse langauge and occasional violence. 2/5
Brialliant lots of sex and a great story of an execetive woman working for a big firm who takes up lapdancing as an extra job to help her with money. This book tells the story of the girls in the lapdancing club, who they dance for and how they get into trouble.....
I found this book was really easy to read, which I always prefer (nothing I hate more than a book that is really hard to get into). It was descriptive, and very visual. Although some parts were disturbing, it was an insight into this particular lifestyle/job that was conveyed really well.
Possibly the worst book I may have ever read. Please save your sanity and read literally anything apart from this, and certainly don't waste your money buying it.
Words cannot describe how devoid of any entertainment or merit this is.
Glorious trashy sexy romp set in the City and strip clubs. I devoured this guilty pleasure hiding the cover on the train. I really enjoyed this read even when cringing through the numerous descriptions sexy moments.
A friend of mine passed this over to me to read a snippet. Bought it later on! Some untied ends where I want to know what happened, but hey, where's there not?
