About the author

Anne Rice (born Howard Allen Frances O'Brien) was a best-selling American author of gothic, supernatural, historical, erotica, and later religious themed books. Best known for The Vampire Chronicles, her prevailing thematic focus is on love, death, immortality, existentialism, and the human condition. She was married to poet Stan Rice for 41 years until his death in 2002. Her books have sold nearly 100 million copies, making her one of the most widely read authors in modern history.

Anne Rice passed on December 11, 2021 due to complications from a stroke. She was eighty years old at the time of her death.

She uses the pseudonym Anne Rampling for adult-themed fiction (i.e., erotica) and A.N. Roquelaure for fiction featuring sexually explicit sado-masochism.

Christ the LORD: The Road to Cana by Anne Rice.

I came across this book on CD while searching the shelves at my public library. It was quite a good book, taking into consideration that although it's Biblical in premise it's also intermingled with the author's imagination. I will go on to read/listen to the other books in this series.

I really liked this fictional rendition of Jesus' daily life. Helps to place His daily life in the Jewish traditions of the day.

Wasn't sure what to expect, but I ended up really enjoying this book. It has strengthened my relationship with Christianity. It has also motivated me to want to learn more about Jesus and the stories in the Bible. I also appreciated the author's brief essay at the end where she addresses what parts are fictional and her basis for the fictional parts of the story. Her writing helped me understand more about the time and scene of when Jesus was alive better than any church sermon or reading the Bible. I'll be reading the other books in this series.

I really enjoyed this book. I liked how she wrote the story. It lets you get to know the humanity of Jesus. After reading this I feel closer to Jesus. It was interesting to get to know the relationships Jesus had with his brothers and the love he shared for his mother. I want to read more on this topic now.

I loved Interview with a Vampire so wanted to read this -- it was flat and I didn't buy into the premise that he didn't know about his powers and that he learned of his birth through his brothers. I did accept the importance of living a human life and learning by living. I would not recommend it.
