I love this non fiction book about a chimp that helped raise two tiger cubs. The pictures of the chimp feeding and playing with the cubs is too cute. My son actually cried at the end of the book because he was sad that the tiger cubs went on to live in a preserve and wouldn't see the chimp that raised them every day.

I found this at my local dollar tree and didn't realize until after reading it, that it is by the "culty" guy from tiger king! Just a fun tidbit. As far as story, it was ok. Not nearly as cute as some other unusual animal stories we've read like little pink pup. The photos looked REALLY staged to me, but I'm probably projecting weird tiger king vibes on it.

Twin tigers are separated from their mother during a storm, and rescued and raised in an animal preserve for endangered animals with the help of a chimp named AnJana.

This is the nonfiction account of how a chimp helped take care of two baby tiger cubs. The photographs of the animals are beautiful. There are also some interesting comparisons between the cubs and other tigers. The chimp seems to like having his photo taken and the tiger cubs are just a photo op for him, but he does pose as a proud parent as well. At the end there is a description of where the animals live and what it's mission is for preserving endangered animals. The front cover will catch the eye of readers and entice them to read more. It is not a difficult text to read. For those who want to read more there are other books about animals that live together that don't normally do so in nature. (Suryia and Roscoe for example is about an orangutan and a stray dog)

This is an amazing book that tells the true story of how two orphan baby tigers were raised and cared on the T.I.G.E.R.S. animal preserve and shared numerous hours playing, cuddling, and swimming with them. But perhaps importantly, the cubs were raised and cared for by two surrogate Mums: A human animal worker named China and her special helper, Anjana, a Chimpanzee. Yes, I kid you not! Styled as a picture book, I think children of all ages will enjoy everything about this book, from the heart warming story of Anjana and the two tiger cubs, Mitra and Shiva to the beautiful photographs. This book is especially ideal for anyone who has a weakness for wild cats, chimps and baby animals.

Although many readers will want to know much more about how Mitra and Shiva ended up needing so much care, they will still be enthralled with this sweet story of friendship between two different species. The appealing photographs prove that a chimp named Anjana and two white tigers bonded. The affections among the tigers, the chimp, and China, the human animal worker upon whom they all relied is evident throughout the book. Budding conservationists will adore this book with its simple text and read it over and over.

The cutest animal book ever! I'm saying that about all of the books I see today. The photographs tell it all - seeing the species interact is really touching. The story starts out with just the cubs, which is not what I expected, but eventually gets to the relationship. Written simply, so possible to read-aloud. The prose is not exceptional, but the story is. It would be fun sharing at storytime.

Children will want to know what happened to the cubs' mother; this is a key detail that shouldn't just be glossed over. At the very least it should be addressed in author's note.
But otherwise a cute, sweet book about a chimp who helps take care of two tiger cubs.
