Moy Mackay’s unique and vibrant ‘felt paintings’ are created by replacing paint as a medium with fleece, fibres and threads, and combining traditional felting techniques with fine art. The result is an exquisite fusion of art, felt and stitch that is both uplifting and inspiring. * Characterised by her wonderful use of colour, Moy’s work includes landscapes as well as still-life studies, animals, birds and flowers. * There is clear, step-by-step guidance through all of the basic techniques, including the felting process itself, and how to use machine and hand stitching to create form and texture. * Four fabulous projects and numerous examples of Moy’s work complete this sumptuous visual feast that will not fail to excite painters and textile artists alike.
The end products of each step-by-step picture is simply unreal. Wispy bold colours of fleece and thread come together expertly like paintings. I have not used this medium before but it sure looks deliciously inviting; electrifying vibrancy and texture to boot. As a painter, I learned an awful lot from looking at how Mackay uses colours. Inspiring.
I truly love this book and is one of my favorites. Moy Mackay is a great inspirator. The colors she uses in her felt artwork is breath taking and very lively. Many and great pictures. For me it is a good reference book.
