Change Your Words, Change Your World

Rate this book
A book of transformation and guidance that cheers the spirit and awakens a sense of personal responsibility.

We use words every day to communicate, to express our feelings and thoughts, but we often forget how powerful they can be and how important it is to choose them with care if we wish to attract love, happiness and success.

With honesty and warmth, Andrea Gardner shares her own ups and downs on her journey to changing her words and her world, and provides the inspiration and tools that you need to find your own true purpose and transform your life to match your dreams. From attracting prosperity and improving your relationships, to finding your true purpose and serving the world, Andrea touches on a wide variety of themes, and helps you laugh at your failings with love, and then pick yourself up and carry on to the wonderful life that you truly deserve. This is a light and entertaining read, but it contains a very powerful message that may very well change your world for good.

This book was a departure for me, but a happy one. Andrea Gardner's book, Change Your Words, Change Your World is her story, and in some ways, all of our stories. The book takes us through her journey from rags to riches, and then tells us why her world changed so drastically...because she changed her words. You may not agree with everything she says in this book, but, I believe that most people who read her book will hear the universal truth that resounds within its pages...the words we choose to speak to ourselves, and to others, can change our lives.

Andrea was our keynote speaker at the Business of Writing International Summit in 2012. The Summit is a conference for writers and authors held annually in Louisville Kentucky. Andrea told us about the dramatic, and climactic transformation in her life using the principles she outlines in this book. If you like the book, and want to learn more about Andrea there is an extended interview available on Amazon.

If you believe that words have importance, and that the words we speak to ourselves and to others can change your life...this is a must read.

The YouTube video that previewed this book intrigued me enough to pre-order. Overall, I enjoyed the book. The message reminded me much of the Wiccan Rule of Three (whatever energy a person puts out into the world, be it positive or negative, will be returned to that person three times.)

As a world-optimist/self-pessimist, I like books that inspire me to look inward for the things in my life that are bringing me unhappiness.

I'll probably read this book again.

Andreas book is a wee gem for anyone wishing to explore the benefits of NLP and, to use her phrase, self leadership.

Told through Andrea's own experience with suggestions of how to apply the techniques this is a great introductory read for anyone interested in NLP but reluctant to read the more mundane textbook style books on the subject.

Go read it.

I bought this for Kindle instinctively, thinking it was going to be an essay on language or something of that kind; it was in fact a book on how your words can ACTUALLY alter the world, full of cheap new-age mysticism and (as it is often the case) inappropriately attempting to found its points on a scientific basis via misinterpretations of quantum mechanics.
I didn't manage to get a long way through it, but I doubt there were many further "revelations" hiding in the remainder of the book and definitely wouldn't recommend to anybody to buy it.

The book is not as outstanding as the video, which I find very useful when faced with truculent teenagers as I use it to answer: "Why should I learn English? What's it good for?"

She quotes people like Masaru Emoto and his rice experiment, which worries me because it is so not scientific. I do think it's possible that Emoto may be influencing his rice, but I think he is measuring the wrong things, maybe we should look at intention. It's been tried by many people and is not scientifically reproducible, so really, I suspect any book that quotes this as proof of their theories.

It's still a terrific video though.

I bought this book thinking it was a guide on how to improve my writing skills. Unfortunately this isn't the case at all. The book is filled with wishy washy pseudo-wisdom and random life memories of the author. The central message repeats throughout every single chapter - if one stays positive, one's life will be positive. The author offers no evidence or arguments to support this claim other than, "believe me, it's true because I said so."

That was a waste of my two hours.

Stop whatever you are doing & go find a copy of this book. I downloaded it on my library's Hoopla app. It is amazing ~ all about the power of positive thinking ~ change your thinking & watch the changes around you. I know it sounds horribly hokey & new agey ~ but even as I was reading it & saying to myself ~ Yeah, right ! I started paying attention to my self talk & realized how often I am complaining about the world around me. As I started to be aware of the negative thoughts, it became easier to ignore them and eventually replace them with a positive spin. So seriously ~ if you are a big fat crab ~ go get a copy of this book.

The whole concept is basically the title. The author doesn’t explore anything new, just repeats the message in a different way. The strangest thing about this book are examples of her life, where she shares her ups and downs, then how to get through, but these not so related to words. Furthermore she mentions Louis Hay very often. Make sure you need to remember. Everything in this book is very vague and half of it is about herself, great, and yes the conclusions is the title

More of a spiritual tale than a practical guide

I bought this book thinking it was more of a “how to” guide on changing One’s communication style and was a little disappointed. The author’s message rings true but by her own admission she is not a medical professional and some of her comments strike me as attempting to share medical advice without that credibility.

This is the second time I have read this inspiring book and it was just as good. Great advice and an uplifting story about the importance of how we speak to ourselves and others.

Her self effacing humour and humility throughout the book make reading the book and its subject matter so much more enjoyable.

Why only 4 stars? Well I'll save that one for me when I've implemented and succeeded in the changes that Andrea has opened my eyes to.

Go read it.

Simple to read and understand. It is useful for a start to those practitioners who wish to explore positivity and embrace changes in life. Whatever we say can be impactful towards outcomes and people. Whichever words or sentences you speak can be detrimental to one's affect or thoughts. The choice of words is important and we should be mindful during our speech or conversation. This book is quite similar to the previous book I read, about changing your thoughts and embracing changes in life by asking questions. It is true that we should always reflect and meditate on the words we should say rather than we tend to say.

I got pulled into this book via the short film on YouTube... Which I later learned was a remake of a short film (with no credit to the original) So, I was hoping for a lot more than new agey pseudo mystic vibe that ran through it. Fans of The Secret will probably like it. It did nothing for me, though.

I read this book over three months. When I picked it up again two months later to continue from where I left of, I was disoriented because there is a stark contrast between the first part of the book where she tells her story to the rest. Still, second part was full of insights that are valuable, but now convincing. I would go back to the parts I have highlighted in times of need.

Written by a professional copywriter (I am afraid with the purpose to promote the copywriting skills and attract new clients), the book is a pleasure to read linguistically. A bit light in essence, it does give inspiration to think more carefully about the words we use and stay positive. Provides a good step by step description of visualization techniques for planning and achieving new goals.

2 stars for comedic value

I was expecting a psychology book with peer reviewed study about the usage of words. But instead was served with wishful new-age belief about literally manifesting stuff into your life just by thinking about it.

Not sure about this. I get the concept but it needed more examples, or specific situations. Good habits to get into as what is said after the fact is not always what is a person's gut reaction. If 'love is all there is' a reaction should be 'loving'. But is it?

Bit airy fairy in places, but good reminder to view things in the positive and what a difference that can make.

This one is hard to judge for me. I liked reading it, but I don't consider myself a spiritual person. I'm going to try some of her excercises though. Let's see where it'll take me ...

This is from the maker of the viral video, The Power of Words, which I love. I guess I was expecting more from this book. It's more a personal story than a study of linguistics. The video is better.

I downloaded this book as I was curious about its author Andrea Gardner. She was the creative behind the video "Change your words; Change your world" which went viral. A blind man begging is ignored by passers-by until his sign is re-written. The change of words brings about a change in his fortune. A moving piece, to which I won't give the punchline rewrite away here - and this book has some great ways of thinking about how the words we use impact in our lives and those of others.
However, there is an echo of The Secret in this book, and theories which push me way beyond my boundary of believable. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, giving the reader an alternative view of belief.
