An intimate and heartfelt story, America captivates through its subdued tone and the emotional bonds that form between its protagonists, offering a poignant glimpse into adolescence, dreams, and disillusionment.
Yet, on a visual level, the manga reveals an uneven execution. Moments of striking visual poetry—where the atmosphere is conveyed with an almost cinematic grace—are followed by hastier, less refined pages that disrupt the narrative flow and diminish its emotional resonance.
America remains a pleasant and evocative work, capable of stirring genuine emotion, but one that has not entirely withstood the passage of time—particularly in terms of its artwork. A cherished memory, yes, though not without its cracks.
