OMG, Lila DiPasqua did it again!!! She stole my heart with this last work in my favorite “Fiery Tale” series. This series has always been my favorite, and I’m glad she ended it on such a high note with “Three Reckless Wishes”.

This erotic historical romance novel centers around Isabelle Laurent - the twin sister of Sabine Laurent, the main female character in the previous full-length novel “A Midnight Dance” - and Luc de Moutier - the brother of Jules de Moutier - none other than the main male character also in “A Midnight Dance”. Ever since I had known that Sabine’s sister and Jules’s brother would be the focus of Lila DiPasqua’s novel, I immediately wanted to read it. And I wasn’t disappointed!

Just like how Lila wrote her previous works in the series, “Three Reckless Wishes” is packed with hot, steamy, sensual, utterly breathtaking sex scenes. My favorite author isn’t reserved when it comes to writing about erotic details, and I love that about her, and also her works. Gosh, I devoured this novel in just about two days! So erotically amazing!

But sex that made my heart beat fast alone couldn’t make me love this novel that much. What took “Three Reckless Wishes” to another level is the heart, the emotions and the angst in the journey of Isabelle and Luc to find peace, love and happiness in each other’s arms. Each had their own demons to fight off. Isabelle, now disguised as the famous courtesan Juliette Carre, had a trust issue: after the cruelty and evilness she had endured from noblemen, she just couldn’t risk her and her son Gabriel’s safety by trusting Luc - a member of the ton - that easily. I totally understand that decision of hers, and it was a worthy journey she had walked on to finally realized that Luc was not like the other so called noblemen, who preyed on the weaker people.

Luc, as a child, was beaten, abused, mocked, ridiculed and made to feel less of by his own father and cousin. The abuse left horrendous scars in him, not only physically, but also emotionally. He acted out as a hater of the world, trying this best to ward off the demons that this painful experience created inside of him, partly by practicing bondage when he had sex with women. Not until did Luc meet “Juliette Carre” - who was actually Isabelle Laurent, whose steamy diary entries showed how much she had loved and longed for him from her teenage years - that he gradually started his healing journey, and realized that in order to make peace with the past and move on with this beautiful woman that he had come to love, Luc needed to let her know the truth about his abusive past and stop blaming his own brother for the fact that Jules was the unharmed son and not him.

Sex, love, angst, emotions,... everything blended so well together to deliver an utterly beautiful, gorgeously hot and unforgettably romantic novel that possess the quality that I always expect and receive from the talented Lila DiPasqua. Now that I’ve heard she is starting a new erotic historical romance series, with the first book coming out this year, I can’t wait to read it! We’re gonna move from King Louis XIV’s reign in France to Victorian era in England, which is the time that I love just as equally ^^

THREE RECKLESS WISHES by Lila DiPasqua is book 10 in the Fiery Tales. This is the story of Luc de Moutier, Marquis of Fontenay and Isabelle Laurent 'Juliette Carre. I have read the previous books and we met Sabine Laurent in the first book 'A Midnight Dance' who is Isabelle's twin sister and Sabine's husband is Luc's brother. With that said, I do feel this can be a standalone book if you wish to do so.
Isabelle was almost killed by Leon de Vittey but she had gotten away from him, but every though she had died at his hands. Isabelle did nothing to prove that wrong thinking that she and her family would be safer with her being 'dead'. Now she is Juliette Carre a famous courtesan who have men vying for her to be theirs, in addition she is able to write. This new life has given her protection for her son and family but her mind is never far from her old life and family.
Leon didn't know Isabelle at the time she was 'alive' but when he started reading her writings/journals he became very taken with a 'dead women'. So much so that its all he can think about. Leon's friend try to talk him into meeting Juliette the one women to take his mind off 'Isabelle' and he does do so. New feelings do come forward for her but 'Isabelle' isn't to far from him or his mind.
So loved this book and such a fan of Ms. Dipasqua writing.

Juliette Carre is a courtesan at the Comtesse de Grandville's masque. Luc is there as well just trying to forget his dreams about a certain dead woman that loved him so much in her youth. He didn't even met Isabelle for god sake!, but he read about all her platonic love in her journals.

The courtesan's mask hids half her face and Luc can't help but notice that she has the exact same dark hair colour that Isabelle could have if she was alive (according to his imagination of course)..The courtesan can't be Isabelle, can she? 👻

Before reading this book (and book #1) I thought that youth platonic love has just stupid and hormonal - I would be married with Brad Pitt by now if it was realistic - but I can say that Lila DiPasqua changed my mind by delivering really interesting, funny and hot stories that start with a big youth platonic love. 💖

The end drama was a little over-dramatic for me but the end and epilogue was so sweet!

I think "Three reckless wishes" can stand alone, it has big spoilers about book #1. I read it after book #1 "A Midnight Dance" because I got really curious about the MC there and I will definitely read book #2 after.

"Luc rooted his feet to the floor so that we wouldn't make a fool of himself by marching across the room, knocking the others out of the way, and hauling her into his armas, bellowing, Mine! like some sort of madman."

ever since isabelle was introduced in book one, i’ve been interested in her story. not just because we share the same name but i thought that she was alive the whole time and luc would be the one to find her. i’m absolutely enthralled in luc and isabelle’s love story. it’s such a dream come true for her to finally be able to meet AND talk to her prince.

isabelle’s a loving character. she became a courtesan while trying to raise a child. and she had been through so much. she had been hiding from the bad guys for so many years. even after the guy died, she still couldn’t risk anything to find her sister.

I loved Luc and Isabelle's story!

On the run for her life, Isabelle let everyone believe she was dead. Even though the threat to her life is over, she still goes by a different name. To be able to put food on the table for her and her son, Isabelle has become a highly sought after mistress called Juliette Carre. About to make her choice on her next lover, she runs into Luc de Moutier, the man she fell in love with as a young woman. She never imagined that she would run into him again. Even after all of these years, she soon realizes that her feelings haven't changed.

Luc as fallen for a dead woman. After getting the journals of his SIL's sister, Isabelle, Luc has fallen in love with a woman he can never have. He can't seem to get her out of his head. When he meets Juliette, Luc is drawn to her just as he is Isabelle. He is finally able to go a short time without thinking about Isabelle. He knows that she puts on a show for her admirers and wants to truly know the woman behind the mask. What will he do when he finds out that the new woman in his life is the one that he has been yearning for all this time?

I've been waiting for Isabelle's story since I read A Midnight Dance in 2015! DiPasqua did not disappoint! I loved that Luc fell for Isabelle after reading her journal. He fell for the woman she was inside long before seeing the beautiful woman that she was on the outside. I loved the bantering between these two, it had me laughing out loud throughout the story. I think this is my favorite of the series!

Kobo+ Books I Own. Mad About Series HRBC Challenge 2025. Tropes: Foreign Country (France 1687), Single Parent-Child, Love at First Sight, Disguise.
MC's h. Isabelle Laurent (Juliette Carr), son Gabriel (dog Montague), friend Nicole (lives with her), estranged twin sister Sabine and brother in law Julian de Moutier.
H. Luc de Moutier, Marquis de Fontenay, 28, brother Julien de Moutier, sister in law Sabine. Bestfriend Marc. He is obsessed with Isabelle's diaries. She has been dead several years. He meets Juliette Carre and sleeps with her. She helps him forget Isabelle.

Basic Plot. This is a love story but the MC, Isabelle is posing as Juliette Carr a sought after courtesan for her own protection. She has an enemy from her past life and had to reinvent herself. She took direction from her friend Nicole de Grammont( an infamous courtesan) whom she met through her father's theater so that she could support her son and herself.

Luc was in jail because his father apparently was a traitor to France. He served his time and went into the navy and later became a Privateer for the King. His name is cleared now. He spent time rebuilding his estates the crown took away while he was in jail. He now wants to find a bride and settle down. Ever since he discovered his sister in law Sabine's late sister Isabelle's diaries he has been obsessed. He fell in love with a dead woman.

Arriving at a masqued ball, to re introduce himself into polite society , his friend Marc suggests he meets with the most sought after courtesan in Paris which will improve his acceptance immediately. He sees Juliette and he thinks her captivating and she sees him and finds he reminds her of her first teen age crush her brother in law Luc de Moutier. Since it is a masked ball she thinks it isn't him but a doppleganger. He seeks out her company asking her to meet him in the library after the dance. She does. They have the most sensual sexual encounter and they are both sated and in awe. She removes her mask and when he removes his, she almost faints, because he is her brother in law and first teen crush. She wrote about him in all her diaries. Overcome she leaves the room but takes the wrong exit and walk outside into the rain. She puts on a brave face and Nicole her friend comes to her rescue helping her save face.

The romance grows from there. An old enemy her ex's wife takes her child with the King's consent claiming the boy is her husbands son. Luc de Moutier with assistance from old servants proves the child is his. Isabelle and Luc marry and sail to St. Marguerite in the Caribbean with Gabriel and Montague. Sabine and Isabelle are reunited.

Opinion: This was the final tale in the Fiery Tale series. Most of the books were novella's except: A Midnight Dance, Undone, Three Reckless Wishes. I have all the books on Kobo+ and own, The Midnight Dance, Undone, Three Reckless Wishes and an Anthology:Awakened by a Kiss with these stories:Sleeping Beau, Little Red Writing, & Bewitching in Boots. The only one's I don't own are: The Duke's Match Girl, The Marquis's New Clothes, The Lovely Duckling, The Princess and the Diamonds.
I enjoyed this series as it was all based on Fairy Tales but named fiery tales for the sensual delight between the pages. I don't think you will find a more erotic group of Fairytales. I gave this series 4 stars.

What we do for those we love. Isabelle is a strong, kind, independent woman who does what she needs to do to protect her family, her son and her friends. She has secrets but hides them very well. Luc is a tormented man with demons and hides away from those demons. Can Isabelle and Luc trust each other enough to share their pasts and forge ahead to a future of love? Of course they can, romance you know. A fabulous story with a naughty side.

Review of Three Reckless Wishes by Lila DiPasqua

Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Plot/Storyline: 📖 📖 📖📖
Feels: 🦋🦋🦋
Romance: 💞💞
Emotional Depth: 💔💔💔
Sexual Tension: ⚡️ ⚡️
Sensuality: 🔥🔥🔥
Sex Scene Length: 🍆🍆 🍆

When I started this book, I thought I was going to love it. It grabbed me on page one with an interesting story line and gobs of feels.

The story begins with the hero, Luc, talking about journals written by the heroine, Isabelle. He’d received them from the heroines sister three years earlier and became completely obsessed with them because in them, Isabelle writes about her longstanding affection for the Luc. The entries are sweet and filled with longing passages about what she thinks about him, how she sees his sadness that no one else does, how she craves his touch and kiss, how she just knows they are meant to be together and that, if he only noticed her, their lives would be complete.

After reading her journals, Luc feels he knows Isabelle better than he even knows himself. He can’t stop thinking about her or what might have been. The trouble is, Isabelle is dead, having faked her death to escape a villain who was trying to kill her. Additionally, Luc and Isabelle have never met. She only ever watched him from afar. It’s this mad passion that Luc has for a woman he believes is dead and the regret that eats at him for overlooking her, that interested me. And at first, it started off so intriguing.

Luc’s background is convoluted to say the least. The man who had tried to kill Isabelle was someone Luc knew. I think he worked on Luc’s estate, but it was only mentioned once in the beginning and I can’t remember. That same man also accused Luc’s father of treason, got their whole family arrested and ruined their lives. Luc’s father was hung before their names were cleared. Although, Luc is not sad about this, because his father had perpetrated many other evils, including being abusive to Luc as a child.

It’s not clear to me what this aspect of the storyline was. This is book 10 in the series and I can only assume that it’s covered in earlier books. But it’s not explained at all in this book, which is odd. Usually you get something. Why was his father accused of treason? Why was Luc once imprisoned? Why did this man try to kill Isabelle? I can answer none of those questions.

10 years later, Isabelle is living as a different woman, pretending to be a courtesan. She has a son with questionable paternity. We’re left to question for about half the book about who his father could be, with three choices to consider. Isabelle feels she must do absolutely everything to protect him. So when Luc is suddenly thrust back into her life, she’s not sure she can trust him.

This is where the plot overwhelms. It’s simply too much. I’m leaving out major aspects of this story here because this would go on forever if I attempted to explain them all. There is even another villain who has nothing to do with any of the other stuff I mentioned, that is blackmailing Isabelle for some unknown reason (it’s revealed eventually, and it’s just silly at this point). Their only purpose is to serve as a roadblock between Isabelle and Luc’s relationship progressing. But honestly, with all the other stuff going on, was it really needed?

For a short book of 245 pages, there simply isn’t enough space to get this right. I have so many questions and feel like I am missing so much of the story. Combined with the fact that Luc’s obsession with Isabelle’s journals, which is what drew my initial interest, isn’t woven into the story as much as I would have liked. After the beginning, the journals were forgotten for a long while. When they entered the picture again, I found their relationship more interesting again. But intimately, I found the book exasperating.

One thing I just could not understand was why Isabelle felt she needed to continue to live as another person if the mad who had been trying to kill her was dead. This was never explained. The threat was gone but in her mind she said she needed to keep her son safe. I am not sure why living as a courtesan and subjecting herself to that life and the risks seemed more safe to her than resuming her old life. She also didn’t trust Luc and that seemed odd when she supposedly knew him so well from her years of watching him.

The very first sex scene, which happens early, was full of heat. The tension between them felt electric. It sizzled. But soon after, it fizzled. The sex went down hill from there. It did peak one more time during a lengthier scene towards the last third of the book, where Luc had some great emotions involved, but so much of the sex was all mechanics and little by way of emotion.

And I can’t believe I am saying this…but it was too repetitive. I will say, I am jealous of Isabelle simply for Luc’s fingering skills. There is some well described g-spot stimulation in here. It goes beyond what most books do. It’s clear he’s got some skills. But by the fourth time he’s doing this in the book, I didn’t care anymore. He’s also into some light bondage, and I did like how he tied her up. It was a bit different than in most books. He actually tied her in a way so her legs were spread and back towards her face, as opposed to all limbs affixed to the bed posts, so she was wide open for him. I thought that seemed alluring, especially since it was Isabelle’s first time being bound. I liked the idea of her being open to him like that in a kinky sort of way. But he just fingered her again and then it was missionary. And I will say that this is the scene where he had all his feelings, so it was a great scene, but why tie someone up like that and then don’t give the reader any of the experimentation?

One thing that I did really love about this book and Luc’s character was how he had a desire for her to be bound but that he was flexible enough to let it go in order to have her. This is one thing I’ve struggled with when I’ve read other books where the hero likes to bind the heroine during sex. They’re completely inflexible about it and while I get that there is a different pull for some people, for me, I find it unsatisfying to have it be so one sided. I can find sexiness and heat in being bound or having someone bound you during sex. But I’m always dying for the roles to reverse or for the hero to want to meet the heroines needs too, instead of being completely unyielding until she relents and eventually agrees with him. In this book, the hero is willing to yield. He still wants what he wants, but is willing to build up to it. So they both get their turns having their passions fulfilled and fulfilling other passions. I’m not saying one way or the other is right or wrong. But if you’re like me and want the give and take, this book will give you that.

More about the sex:

* Luc loves to talk during sex, plying Isabelle with generous encouragement. “I’m going to do this and you’re going to like it.” I love talk like this during sex. It’s so hot.
* Dry humping. God, how I hate that term. So unsexy for one of the sexiest things imaginable. No coming in his pants though. It was more a precursor to the rest of the scene.
* A blow job, but it’s short and not very well described.
* Fingering with g-spot stimulation as mentioned above.
* Lots of cunny licking
* Doggy style.
* Light bondage.
* No significant BDSM. No pain aspects, unless you count nipple pinching.
* Light anal play.

Three Reckless Wishes is the tenth and final book in the Fiery Tales series. The author’s notes explain that she set the story in Paris 1661, during the reign of the Sun King, Louis XIV of France, because Louis was a lusty king. This is an erotically charged read. It’s a full length book, not a novella.

It was during this very time period that the father of fairy tales, Charles Perrault, wrote the stories that have delighted generations. This historical romance is inspired by the classic fairy tale, Three Foolish Wishes. Many believe it’s where the saying, “be careful what you wish for,” may have originated.

Midnight Dance - 3 stars
Undone - 3+ stars: Liked this book better than first and fourth.
The Duke's Match Girl - 5 stars

Luc de Moutier, Marquis of Fontenay, is haunted by the writings of a dead woman. He is the subject of her romantic interest. He is an intense but flawless Hero. I liked his strong rapport with young Gabriel, and his whimsical remarks regarding Montague.

As a besotted young girl, Isabelle Laurent watched the Marquis from afar in her father’s theatre. Now grown, Isabelle has transformed herself and she is sought after by the most powerful men vying to become her wealthy lovers. Three reckless wishes led her down the path she now walks. Her only goal is to provide for a young son and to maintain the ruse of her demise. She is a likeable Heroine.

Luc and Isabelle’s sexy times are graphic, intense, and captivating.

The first book, Midnight Dance, is about Sabine Laurent, Isabelle’s twin sister.

The character who is Isabelle’s mentor, Nicole de Grammont, is based on a real-life woman, Nikon (Anne) de Lenclos, who lived 1620-1705. She was a French courtesan, a writer, and a teacher about the art of love-making. She lived her life by her own rules.

The poetess mentioned, Isabella di Morro, existed also. As well as the names of two of the judges used in the story who were, in fact, judges during this era.

I highly recommend this book. I highly recommend this series.

Luc thinks he has fallen for a woman through her journals the only problem is she is dead. He can’t seem to stop thinking about her, comparing all women to her. He meets Juliette and is drawn to her as he is Isabelle. What will happen when he learns the truth about Juliette? This is a fast-paced historical read with loads of drama and suspense. I loved the story and the characters really drew me in. I was hooked from beginning to end. I loved it!

Ginny Weasley - per RFS
.

Ti amo. Ti ho sempre amato.

DNF at 72%. Extremely dissapointed with this one. I was really looking forward to it based on the setting and reviews, but it ended up being mediocre, and even worse, boring. I was trying really hard to finish it, because is so short but it just wouldn't hold my attention long enough.
I can't quite put my finger on what is wrong with it overall, is more little things here and there that didn't work for me. Is one of those you either like or don't like you know? Is my first book by this author, but I don't think I'm coming back for more. And yes, is not the first in the series, but I think it stands alone fairly well, so that wasn't the problem. So, imma complain below, expect spoilers.

-Dialogue is far too modern. This is not something that will usually bug me too much, I don't expect my HRs to be realistic, but in this case, it took it too far. The dirty talk is the worst offender in this regard. Luc's speech would be fine in the lips of a bad boy rock star, not a classy french nobleman, and the use of the word "sex" to refer to carnal encounters was quite bothersome given the setting.

-The sex wasn't sexy. Sure, its descriptive, but it lacked tension or chemistry or whatever. Someone like Sarah Maclean or Sylvia Day can write something that is ten times hotter with less descriptions. Is all about how the characters interact, and Isabelle and Luc just weren't great together.

-Not enough time dedicated to the mcs getting to know one another. It sort of happens off screen in a way, with them knowing about the other in the past.

-Luc is a Gary Stu

Bottom line, this falls on the bad side of erotica for me, meaning empty, unsatisfactory sex and not enough story/character development to keep me interested. I'm ok with books that focus on the relationship and not much else, but this one wasn't romantic in the slightest and there isn't much in the way of advancing the relationship itself.
It also bugged me that Gabriel wasn't Isabelle's actual child. I mean, if that's the case, why not say he is her baby cousin or adopted or something, and spare him the stain of being the bastard son a prostitute? He would've led a much better life that way.

Phenomenal!!

There aren’t enough words to describe how much I loved this book. I couldn’t put it down. I felt the pain and the love and the passion throughout. I’m sad that it’s over and I’ve read the entire series by this author. I wish there were more to read!!

Francia, 1661

A Sensual and Emotionally-Charged Historical Romance Where Wishes Do Come True

Three Reckless Wishes is the tenth, and final, book in in Lila DiPasqua’s Fiery Tales series. The entire series is based loosely on Charles Perrault’s infamous children’s fairytales with an adult twist. Each book can be read as a standalone and is full of adventure, mystery, emotion and sensual heat and takes place in France during the time of King Louis XIV's reign.

Isabelle and Luc both have experienced tremendous pain and suffering in their lives as a result of traumatic circumstances. They both have been betrayed and have had to change their lives as a result. Isabelle has been forced to take on a new persona to provide for herself and her young son. Luc is rebuilding his life after being falsely accused of treason. Isabelle pined for Luc as a young girl from afar. Luc never knew Isabelle, but now has in his possession her diaries and has become obsessed with them believing she is dead due to a tragic event. He meets Isabelle and is attracted to her immediately, but believes she is someone else. Their attraction can’t be denied, but they both harbor secrets they don’t want the other to discover. Both worry that if their facades are stripped away and their pain is revealed, the lives they’ve built will crumble. So much is at stake for both of them.

Three Reckless Wishes, which is based on the fairytale Three Foolish Wishes, can be read as standalone; however I recommend reading Midnight Dance, the first book in series which is based on Cinderella, first. Isabelle is the sister of Sabine, the heroine in Midnight Dance. I have been anticipating the conclusion to this family’s story and was thoroughly satisfied with it’s completion. Some of the characters in the story are based on real people who lived during the time.

The author knows how to deliver an emotionally-charged story with intense passion and always writes twists that I don’t see coming in the storylines. Her characters aren’t always members of the aristocracy either, which is commonly found in most historical romance. I highly recommend this author when you are in the mood for a unique historical romance with a little spice.

Review will be posted at www.books-n-kisses.com .
NUMBER OF HEARTS: 4
Isabelle Laurent only goals are to keep her son and her secret safe. With that she has transformed herself into Courtesan Juliette Carre. Juliette will never let anyone take advantage her they way they did of Isabelle.

Luc de Moutier has finally regained his place in society by getting his money back, his title back and his reputation back. But there is one thing missing from his life. But it is something out of reach because the thing he desires has passed on.
I enjoyed Isabelle and Luc’s. They are so perfect for each other. It is a little sad that it took so long for them to finally find their happy ending but so worth the journey!
Another wonderful story from Ms. DiPasqua! Sadly this looks like the end of the Fiery Tales Series! This has been such a wonder series filled with wonderful stories of love, loss and redemption.

I can’t wait to see what Ms. DiPasqua has store for us in her next series.

This is a brilliant and riveting story. It's full of love, drama, suspense and heat. Luc is a caring, emotioanally damaged and stubborn man. Isabelle is a brave, determined and untrusting woman. Isabelle fell in love with Luc when they were teenagers, but Luc never knew, they never actually met. But he falls in love with her while reading her journals. When they meet, ten years after she supposedly died, he has no clue that the woman he met, and became obsessed with, is the same woman that wrote the journals. The two become helplessly and intensely drawn to the other, but both have secrets they are not willing to trust the other with. I could not put this down, and surprises so twisted and romantic will make staying up all night well worth it.
I recieved a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.

3.5 stars but I didn’t rate up!! Heheheh. First things first though, how many damn times do I gotta read the word “carnal” honestly by chapter five I was considering doing a counter lmfao like can you come up with something else???

Okay but in all honesty this one was better than the first because I do believe in Isabelle and Luc’s connection and compatibility. Honestly they were more enthralling and had hotter sex than their siblings did. Also Luc was the poster of having daddy issues but didn’t take it out on every body else cause he did his work and self reflected and we loved to see it!! (take note Simon from Duke & I)

This should be read after A Midnight Dance
This one has a lot of surprises/spoilers. It's great that Isabelle was rescued from the life she was indirectly forced into and to know that Luc, who didn't seem traumatized from his past in the previous novel, opened up to embrace the beauty of life with Isabelle aka Julliete.

I received this book as an ARC with the promise of posting a review and I'm so glad I was chosen! So here goes....I don't read too many historical romances....but I ALWAYS read Lila's. She has a way of captivating you, making you feel as if you are a part of the story. She has it so that you never want to put the book down. I am never disappointed when I read anything by Lila.

Amazing series

The story of Isabelle and Luc is amazing and finishes the tale begun in the first of the series. Lots of angst, drama, suspense, and emotion. It is very steamy and intense. Loved it!
