Craig Cecil has been involved in sports and the science of exercise since his days of high school athletics in baseball, through his collegiate career in NCAA Track & Field, to his devotion to weightlifting and bodybuilding pursuits over the past 20 years. During that time, Craig has trained with professional athletes, as well as multitudes of dedicated, ordinary individuals just wanting to build lean, muscular body weight.

Craig is a member of the National Strength & Conditioning Association and holds an MBA from Loyola University of Maryland.

Hello,

I'm the author of this book and wanted to give you a little additional insight into what you'll find here and why I wrote it.

First, the Smith Machine is found in almost every gym across the country. It's been around for over 50 years, and there is a reason for that. It's simple to use and versatile. The book contains over 85 illustrated exercises you can perform for every muscle group using this machine. Additionally, I give you dozens of workout routines, covering everything from strength training, bodybuilding, circuit training, cardiovascular training (yes, you can do that with the machine) to injury rehab and recovery.

Second, most individuals like to use dedicated exercise machines and tend to shy away from the barbells and dumbbells, especially as a beginner. I wanted to provide a road map for transitioning from exclusive machine-use to the hybrid world of the Smith Machine, with it's built-in Olympic bar and free weight plate use. This book serves as the platform to transition and eventually expand your workout repertoire into the highly effective world of free weights.

Finally, most individuals don't understand basic progressive resistance techniques, and all the options available to them in this exercise genre. This book aims to address that, within the inviting and easily mastered confines of the Smith Machine. As you'll find out by reading through the entire book, the lessons here transcend the machine.

Dozens of workouts are included with numerous illustrations to guide beginners, and pros alike to continue training further for a stronger physique, and a stamina that never quits. Cecil's how-to book not only thoroughly explains the workouts step by step, but it also supplies helpful information discussing why to work on certain area to achieve the utmost strength.
