About the author

Paul W. Papa is an award-winning, full-time writer and ghost writer who has lived in Las Vegas for more than thirty years. He developed a fascination with the area, and all its wonders, while working for nearly fifteen years at several Las Vegas casinos. In his role as a security officer, Paul was the person who actually shut and locked the doors of the Sands Hotel and Casino for the final time. He eventually became a hotel investigator for a major Strip casino, during which time he developed a love for writing stories about uncommon events. When not at his keyboard, Paul can be found talking to tourists on Fremont Street, investigating some old building, or sitting in a local diner hunting down his next story.

Haunted books are so much fun to write and this one was no exception. However, with this book I took a different spin. Instead of trying to prove or disprove the hauntings, I decided to just tell the tale and allow you, the reader, to decide for yourself. Of course, when possible, I give you directions to the spot of the haunting so you can go there yourself--possibly in the "dead" of night--and make your own discoveries.

I also stay away from adding my own personal opinion about whether or not the hauntings really happened. Instead, I just tell the stories as they were told to me, give you some background information about the haunting, and let you have at it. If you're a ghost buff. I think this book is right up your alley.

I picked up this book at the Mob Museum after the tour guide said it was her favorite book in the gift shop. I highly recommend reading this while visiting Las Vegas. I’m not usually one to read haunting books, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading the history - and hauntings - of the places I visited.

If you’re looking for a good ghost story to tell over the campfire, you’ll be quite disappointed. No jump scares here. This is much more of a history lesson on deaf people in Las Vegas. It doesn’t work for long time locals who already know these stories. It somewhat over exaggerates the “experiences” and uses language that feels more like someone talking to a tourist. I was a bit bored and had to force my way through for a reading challenge. If you’re not a local and want some history about Las Vegas, you’re probably going to enjoy this light hearted read. It would be good for a flight to Vegas. Especially if it’s your first time.

This was fun! I picked up my copy in the Springs Preserve and happen to live in a large and seemingly haunted house in the neighboring Rancho Nevada Estates. If there is a second edition of the book, I’d definitely include the Maheu house.

I work at UNLV, and if we have the Kiel bones I assure you they are well-tended by spiritually minded people. And I doubt they are there to stay forever. Anthropology is so much more than bone collecting. In fact, some of us hunt ghosts. You could even say it is part of our job.

As a Las Vegas native, some of these I've known, others are new to me. The writing is kinda amateurish and some parts are ended abruptly whereas other parts are fleshed out nicely. In spite of that, the stories themselves are interesting. I enjoyed learning about local spots near me that are "haunted". Also, this book and its haunted claims should be taken with a grain of salt but are fun nonetheless.

A lot of great ghost stories of old and new in this collection. I bought it while on the Haunted Las Vegas tour. It gave me a lot of great ideas of sites to visit on my next trip. If you like ghost stories and are planning a trip to Las Vegas, I strongly recommend reading this book first. You will read about a lot of places you'll want to visit!

Picked up as a souvenir at the Las Vegas Mob Museum in 2017. It mostly reads like the narration of a dramatic re-creation segment on "Unsolved Mysteries". It does have handy maps and listings of Vegas' most famous haunts, however.
