I have long been a fan of Murphy's ForeSender Chronicles. I love that this standalone prequel shows our fearless Galindra in the main series as a fresh out of the academy, self-conscious leader, and her growth into that main series character I love. Her brother, Salith, is always the boyish charm and comedic relief. I love his character as well. This is an amazing prequel that I highly recommend for fans of fantasy, action, and dragon-and-wolf-shifters.

“Dragon Sleuth” is a prequel to the ForeSender Chronicles, a standalone origin story of how a younger, less assured Galindra comes into her own as a galactic guardian fresh out of the academy and about to lead her first mission.
The title refers to Galindra herself, a dragon shifter and ForeSender, a protector and investigator with powers including battle magic, telepathy and more. Along with her cheeky brother, Salith, a wolf shifter, Galindra is charged with escorting a spoiled princess back to her kingdom across the howling wilderness of her home planet.
Yet this is no pleasure cruise, as assassins and usurpers lurk in the shadows, harboring their own hidden agendas for their nomadic homeland…
In this lean, stripped-down novella, Adrian Murphy fills in some interesting backstory elements to the main series as well as enriching it with some early character development of his leads. Although the dialogue can occasionally be on-the-nose, I think this is some of Murphy’s best writing yet. Unencumbered by complicated subplots, his clean, precise prose plunges us straight into the high-octane action-adventure, and whether you read it before or after the main event, it’s a fun, fast ride from start to finish. Two thumbs way up!

Great Action Packed Fantasy!
This is the beginning of Galindra's story as a dragon-shifter, who is learning very quickly that what may seam a rock, may really not be, it could be a Troll! Galindra is also learning to work well with others and their specialty, which can be quite a great asset when you have a job of escorting and protecting someone!
This was a great story, and a nice beginning to show how Galindra actually got started with her team!

Adrian Murphy does a great job in creating this prequel novella, it does everything that I was hoping for from this type of book. It does a great job in introducing the world and giving you a taste of the story. The characters were what I was hoping for and really enjoyed getting to know them. Can't wait for more in this universe.

a quick Fantasy Read
What I loved were the dragon shapeshifters and other fantastical creatures. This plays like an action movie in my head. I missed the military sci-fi aspect of the books to come later and was rewarded with a snippet at the end, a preview of the next book—which I have already read, but it was nice to see those characters again.
