A complete guide to child development from birth to 16 years ?Assuming no prior knowledge of the subject, this guide takes readers through physical, cognitive, moral, and behavioral aspects of a child's development. It covers key figures such as Piaget, Freud, and Bowlby as well as looking at the work of more contemporary theorists. Case studies offer practical understanding while illustrations back up key points.
The first eight chapters are terribly formatted, bullet points are continually used, making the text time consuming and difficult to read.
This book is however saved by the final two chapters which are concise and well put together.
Overall, avoid this book unless you want something that can be used as a quick reference. It is simply too difficult to read straight through. The text is just too fragmented. Otherwise just skip straight to the final two chapters.
I enjoyed reading this book. It’s written very well and is very comprehensive to the ordinary reader. I bought this book for my Childcare course training which begins in September. She explains every stage in great detail which is really helpful to students of this nature.
