Terrorism is examined thoroughly from the past point-of-view all the way to predictions for the future. Quotes from everyday people affected by this issue are included as well as views from world leaders.
The non-fiction book that I read was called Terrorism. The book was about the problems that terrorism causes, also many places deal with terrorism everyday. I like how the author of the book talks about both sides of terrorism. Even though he does this you can tell that he believes terrorism is a bad thing that we need to stop. He includes many ways that we can prevent and stop terrorism. This book had pictures of terrorism that has already happened and what we did after that event, such as 9/11. The author claims that terrorism is a real and current problem that we as a country need to fix and stop. He supports this by saying many ways that we can improve our security system. He says we can do this by putting more money into security of airports. He also says that we need to add better security to not just airports but movie theaters, docks for boats, and borders of places like states and countries. If we do this terrorism will decrease drastically, and we will as a whole be a much safer Country. He also says another way to prevent terrorism is to pay soldiers more money and deploy soldiers to places where these terrorist are being trained. If we do this we will destroy the places that terrorist are being trained and we will be able to reduce the number of terrorists that are joining these groups. There were many things about the book that I found interesting. Many of the facts that the author talked about had to do with the United States. One fact that I found interesting was that many Taliban say that there holy book tells them to attack the United States because if what they’re doing to the Muslims; but the holy book actually tells them that attacking other places no matter what the reason is, is against Muslim culture. The Taliban says that their holy book told them to attack the U.S. but it says not to attack anybody. One thing that I liked about the way my author writes is that he talks about the events as if you were a person who knew someone that died. This showed me how many people feel and how they reacted to the events. This helped me because instead of just listing facts in bullet points you could connect to the book. Another thing the author talks about is the main terrorist groups. Which include Al Qaida, Taliban, Liberation Tigers of Tamil Ealam, and the Shining path. I agree with the author that Terrorism is a real problem and we need to stop it. Many of the examples that the author gives of terrorism I can relate to. I also agree with him of the ways that we can stop terrorism such as paying more money to the people that create security machines will help get advanced technology and prevent people from even trying to get into airports with deadly arms. Also if we destroy the training bases they won’t have anywhere to train these people there for stopping them at the root and causing them to have no new terrorists and soon enough all the old ones will die. I would recommend this book this book to an audience of 11 and older. This is because anyone younger won’t understand the problem that Terrorism causes and they will be disturbed by the photos and vocabulary the author uses. I think that everyone should HAVE to read the book because it will teach kids about terrorism and how in the future they can prevent terrorism.
