Cute abc book but some words are hard to say for a small child.

The illustrations are a bit strange and not to my taste overall, but the rhinoceros illustration was particularly unattractive. The text includes many long and more complex words that seem beyond the vocabulary of the board book crowd; at the very least, the text certainly isn't "simple" as the back-of-the-book description states. Finally, I found the capitalization scheme frustrating: it doesn't follow normal sentence capitalization, nor is every instance of the featured letter on a given page capitalized. From the book's description, it seems this was intentional, to showcase both the large and small versions of each letter. In that instance, though, I would have preferred if the number of large and small featured letters on each page were evenly matched, or at least if the large and small letters were used consistently (such as small letters for adjectives and adverbs, large letters for nouns).
