Everything Pales in Comparison

Rate this book
Constable Emma Kirby isn't minding her latest assignment in the least. Security detail for a rising country music sensation's concert is easy on the eyes and ears - until a deadly explosion tears open the night.

After running into danger to save the life of singer/songwriter Daina Buchanan, Emma finds herself also a target of the stalker who claims responsibility. With both their lives in danger and turned upside down, Emma is charged with ensuring their safety. But independent and fiery tempered Daina proves difficult to work with, even after she agrees to protective custody.

For the reserved Emma, life with a self-absorbed musician whom she is expected to protect is the last thing she needs. Daina Buchanan, she soon finds, is used to getting what she wants.

Passion and music are the backdrop for heart-pounding tension in this debut novel from Rebecca Swartz.

3 1/2 Stars. This was an enjoyable romance that also had a bit of excitement. Daina is a country singer who's life is threatened by a stalker. After Emma, an officer (I forget her rank constable maybe?) saves Daina's life at a concert, she also becomes a target of the stalker.
As I said before, this definitely had some excitement. As a reader you are on the edge of your seat wondering who the stalker is and why they are doing this.
One of the parts of the story that drove me nuts is how little the police actually tell Daina about what is going on. If this was real life, I think they would be sued It was just a little unrealistic to me.
The romance was nice, but nothing earth shattering.
I would still recommend this to other romance fans that like a bit of action in their books.

Absolutely stunning!

After walking onto the stage, she would never be the same. Her world turns upside down after she is forced to spend a lot of time with her. She has no choice but to accept. Feeling responsible for both their safety, love is not an option. Coming face-to-face with danger, she must make every effort to stop all the madness before it's too late. As the plot kept going and the story unfolds, I was surprised with the ending. The leading characters are just as complicated as interesting. The writing was very addictive and in a steady pace. You feel like you are a part of the story with the beautiful characters. The story contains tragedy, intrigue, mystery, angst and it is an awesome love story. This book was really hard to put down. Trust me when I say you won't want to miss this.

Constable Emma Kirby is on a special assignment. She’s on a security detail at a country and western concert. So far, she’s enjoying herself, listening to the music and looking at the talent is great. Seeing the lovely singer and song writer, Daina Buchanan is even better. Then suddenly, there is an explosion. All hell breaks loose. Emma finds herself on a mission of mercy to try to save Daina’s life.

What or who could have caused the explosion and why?

Emma finds herself being stalked. It appears that both Emma and Daina are targets for the same stalker. How can this be? Neither woman had even met before the night of the concert and explosion.

Emma is detailed to protection duty in a safe house for both Daina and herself. So the two women are thrown together due to circumstances beyond their control. It’s not long before Emma and Daina realize they have an undeniable attraction for each other.

Will Emma, as Daina’s body guard, mix business with pleasure? Will the stalker be found before he or she kills one or both women?

This is Rebecca Swartz’s debut book. It is a very well written and tense page turner. A mixture of thriller and romance. The book clips along at a nice pace, the tension radiates from the page There are several twists and turns along the way to intrigue the reader further.

The two characters are great and their interaction is spot on. It was nice to get to known their previous back ground too.

I enjoyed this book very much, even though I did guess who the perpetrator was. There was still a little twist even to that.

I have no intentions of revealing any spoilers, but I felt the epilogue was a little bit apart and a bit out of place from the rest of the book, but it didn’t spoil anything of the actual story.

All in all though, a jolly good, nail biting read. I look forward to Rebecca’s next book eagerly.

The story started with a promising tension, but it gradually fizzled out. It got a little weak. I hoped that this would create room for a steamy romance, but that was also a bit disappointing. I didn't really feel any sparkling chemistry between the main characters, I didn't even really understand what they saw in each other. I also missed the writer taking you by the hand. Some things seemed to come out of nowhere for me. In the end there is some suspence again though with a somewhat surprising ending. All in all it wasn't bad, but certainly not great either. 3+⭐️

Everything Pales in Comparision was one of the most enjoyable reads that I have had in a long time. I couldn't put it down. I literally read it in less than 24 hours. The twists and turns of the book were so enjoyable and the outcome was brilliant. There is a twist that I still haven't figured out but am going to start reading it again and see if I can finally work it out. Everything Pales in Comparision is worth at least one read if not two. Can't wait to see what Rebecca puts out next very very enjoyable.

Everything Pales in Comparison is an epic debut novel written by Rebecca Swartz. The dramatic storyline with some unexpected twists draws you in, the well-developed characters become your would-be friends and enemies and you'll likely read this page-turner from start to finish in short delay. I just bet you'll be wanting more when you're done reading!

I had the honor of reading part of this book while it was in it's infancy about 10 years ago.
Congrats Rebecca on a well written novel. I'm not a fast reader but when a book holds my interest, as this one did, I just can't put it down.
Page turner from the begging and keeps you interested right to the very end.

For me this was more about the investigation than the romance which really looked more like a by-product. Nice plot, relatable characters but a number of the investigative approaches was somewhat faulty but it's a book... we can pardon it :)
