I’m the sister you don’t want to meet in a dark alley.
An assassin for hire, I’ve got skills other people don’t. Blame my magical heritage and a mother who gifted me a set of knives and my first revolver not long after my sixteenth birthday. When a magical object transports me to a perilous jungle as part of a job interview, I have to admit I’m intrigued. So what if my future-seeing sister told me to avoid the stranger offering me employment. She also told me we’d end up lovers. I can see why. The Warden—real name Bane—is all kinds of sexy and grumpy and massively cursed. He needs me to keep him alive during some kind of arcane event. If I do, then I get to choose a treasure. Oh, and save the world. Me, a hero? Guess we’ll see because I’m about to come face to face with more monsters than I knew existed. I’ll be tested. Seduced. And, according to my sister, will most likely die. The odds are against me, but now that I’ve met my match, I’m determined to win this fight - and his love.
Hello, my name is Eve Langlais and I am an International Bestselling author who loves to write hot romance, usually with werewolves, cyborgs or aliens .
I should warn you, I have a twisted imagination and a sarcastic sense of humor something I like to let loose in my writing. While well known for my shifter stories, I am also extremely partial to aliens, the kind who like to abduct humans and then drive them insane...with pleasure. Or do you like something a little darker, more serious? Then check out my cyborgs whose battle with humanity have captivated readers worldwide.
Three sisters with different powers. Enyo is the one that is a kick ass warrior. Or well assassin as the is running around killing people.
The world, well I want to know more. Like what is up with their mother? Who is their father? I guess I must wait for those answers as two more books are coming with her sisters.
In this one Enyo must protect Bane, a Warder of a mysterious door holding evil. And everything and everyone is after it, him and now her.
Lots of action, and she is one kick ass chick. And she also has the hots for him so we will get some of that action too. A good start, but yes I have questions.
Good narration. It is lots of action and she kept up with it. Good voices
It's short but it manages to pack a lot in. There is.a.great story here, not much detail or depth, no dithering over.emotions here, theres.not the time but the writing style suits the way the.story unfolds. The Grae sisters are amazing, my only complaint I wish we got more of them.interacting together (especially growing up) are in their mum who while not in the book is mentioned several times. As it's a trilogy we may learn more of the sisters backstory as the books progress. Finally it's great to see a series.of.books where the.main protagonist is the female and the male lead (while necessary for the romance element) is not necessary for the sister's to win. It's great fun and I've already pre ordered the next two...................
This was a brilliant story. It had a really good pace, plenty of action and a quick witted snarky heroine who was seriously badass. Would have liked a bit more genuine interaction between the main couple though.
Unfortunately the MCs just weren’t grabbing my interest. The “love” felt rushed and came out of nowhere at the end. Also, he hires her to be his bodyguard for the eclipse and then doesn’t wait for her?! Why did he bother hiring her?! He could’ve waited 🙄 … I might read the next one to see a different sisters perspective and also see what happens with the broader story
“What I do is none of your fucking business. So get out unless you want to join in.” He licked his lips as he grabbed his crotch. There didn’t exist a universe where it would have been sexy. No wonder he relied on drugging his dates. “If I wanted a skinny two-inch dick, I’d finger myself.”
I LOVE a smart mouthed FMC! I really enjoyed this book. It's really hard to find a book where the FMC is the one making the advances, flirting shamelessly and 100% making sure the MMC knows she wants him.
“I’m sure you’ll be just as quick getting out of bed as a chair,” he argued. “Why, Bane, is this your way of saying you’d like to cuddle? I should warn you I like to be the big spoon.” He rolled his eyes heavenward and groaned. “Why me?” “Because you wanted the best and you got it.”
I love the strong female characters in Eve Langlais’ books. Enyo is 6 feet tall - in great shape, wields guns and knives as well as hand to hand combat techniques. Bane hires her in an arcane manner transporting her to another realm where he needs her to protect him and him colony from activities that will occur during an eclipse that coincidently have given the triplets (Enyo’s sisters - a seer and a witch powers on their 16th birthday).
When told she can have a prize by Banes and death and sex from her seer sister, Enyo goes after her reluctant employer biding her time until he pounces on her or she him!
One of my biggest pet peeves is reading a book synopsis that says how strong the heroine is and then a quarter of the way into the book she's being saved, enslaved, or diminished by the "hero". So it was with caution that I started this book. And it totally rocked!
Enyo was smart, strong, sassy, and bold. And Bane not only wasn't a jerk about it but accepted her as she is. Didn't hurt that he too was strong and fearsome, if a bit naive at times.
I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the rest of the Grae sisters stories. Also, hoping this wasn't the last we see of Lorcan.
Good book. I really enjoyed listening to this book. The concept of triplets getting their power during an eclipse at age 16 is interesting. Including a warden having to protect a portal from some evil entity from coming through. Eros is a very cool assassin and I love her positive and kick butt attitude. She’s a strong heroine and funny at times. She keeps Bane, the warden on his toes. I enjoyed their fun banter and watching their relationship grow. I recommend this book and can see me listening to it again.
I am officially done with this author. Whoever writes her blurbs deserves a major prize because they always sound so good that I am suckered into picking them up only to DNF. Her brand of irreverence is not for me. And I love irreverence. Her heroines always come across as petulant teenagers who are stomping about in their rebellion, causing unnecessary drama. And the hero is a grumpy old man with much wisdom and no patience. Sort of like Yoda but less loveable.
Some would say Enyo is too much, but I actually loved the fact that it felt as if the roles were reversed in this book. It felt a bit rushed and it would have been epic if the author went more in depth with everything. For me Enyo carried all the book, even though Bane wasn't too much of a let down either. Loved their banter 😅
Okay, that was an epic start to this new series! These three sisters are forces to be reckoned with, on their own, and together, unstoppable. Obviously, we have the assassin, Enyo, and I love how she makes every warrior seem weak. Strong of mind, will, and body, I loved how she is always on. I cannot wait for the other two sisters’ stories!!!
When Bane seeks the aid of a bodyguard, he is referred to Enyo who is one of 3 triplets with different abilities. Their story was so much fun to read even with danger and action trying to stop them. This author has such an amazing ability to convey her ideas and imagination. Absolutely a can't put the book down story.
Finally! I have been waiting for so long! I absolutely LOVED the role reversal on this! Instead of the women being angry and emotional and inexperienced, the man is in this book. I loved it! The only thing I didn’t like really was the narration. I’ve listened to other books narrated by her and she’s not bad perse. But I associate her voice with YA. So it’s off putting. Can’t wait for book 2!!!
Okay, so more detail, the better most of the time.. However, TMI!!! This book is not for the faint of the heart. The plot is a good, fast-paced read. These girls are in for a rocky road starting at age 16. They mystery of their absent parent is still not solved. The mystery of the GOD that blessed them still a foot. It's a good read.
The heroine was bold, brassy and held nothing back. The author is one of only a few that can make a person like her likable and me rooting for her success and love match. She found a person right for her. Hope the other books uncover what the Sisters are and what was let out
This was quite an entertaining reading. Interesting characters, fun banter, smexy times, great chemistry between main characters…. Loved kick ass woman power aspect of this fast paced action packed love story… really looking forward to the next book in this series.
A guilty pleasure book for me... It had a slow start but gradually found the pace I was looking for. I did enjoy the storyline but felt like some minor details were missing. I easily finished this in a day but not in a "I can't put it down" kind of way. I would like to finish the series for sure.
End of the world urban fantasy, forced proximity romance. Enyo and Bane had good chemistry. Good start to series with the other two of the triplet's stories.
I'm the sister you don't want to meet in a dark alley. An assassin for hire, I've got skills other people don't.
This was thoroughly enjoyable. Fantastic, bold, brave, snarky, hilarious heroine, an equally fun and sexy hero, and a story that was intriguing and interesting. While this was a little rushed, it was still enjoyable and the audio was great. Recommended!
3.7. Would have been a higher rating but for the gratuitous sex scene detail. No part of the narrative had such detail of a character's sensations, so why drag the reader through semi-porn? It light touch would have been far more in keeping with the rest of the book.
I love kick-ass heroines and I am a lot like Enyo when it comes to personality (too bad I don't have her skills). So I really enjoyed this one and I'm looking forward to the next.
I enjoyed this book. It had adventure and craziness which isn't a surprise with an Eve Langlais book. I look forward to seeing what the next adventure for Freida!
2.5/5 It was fine up till 85%. The I love yous was abrupt and you really didn’t see the build up of the relationship. This reminds me why I read books over certain page numbers only.
