Although now slightly dated, this book gives a good initial overview into producing commercial theatre. With a hefty chapter on finance, the book reads easily and offers a light hearted approach to some difficult decisions.
The key element missing is a section on social media/internet marketing in the “How to Market a West End show”. Julius Green says in the book that he doesn’t use social media so didn’t want to include that in the book and there are other much better books to read but it is definitely the most missed chapter as there’s now an insanely large portion of marketing done online.

With a few updates this book would be perfect for someone starting in the industry who needed a quick guide for what the heck is going on in this crazy industry!

The budget chapter is dense, but it's the best chapter in the book. Thankfully, I had a class with him to unpack it. Now I'm ready to produce a West End show, if I really wanted to!
