Sacred Encounters With Mary

Rate this book
Personal encounters with Mary, the Mother of Jesus, seem to be increasing even more today than when she first began appearing during times of upheaval to unlikely visionaries on hillsides and in other rural areas of Mexico and Europe. It is often the face of Mary that shines through and consoles us in our times of deepest personal and collective need. Sparrow, a psychotherapist, recounts experiences in which individuals have felt the presence of Mary either through light, voices, visions, or simply an overwhelming feeling of love.

What an incredibly satisfying and spiritually awakening book! Each chapter gives the reader a little snippet of the Blessed Mother from Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Miraculous Medal, La Salette, Lourdes, Fatima, Garabandal and Medjugorje. Each chapter lay people give their account of their visions of the Blessed Mother. So awe inspiring I found myself starting to cry for I only wish I was worthy enough to see Mary as they did! Definitely a book for believers of the Blessed Mother but also a book for others who would like to know and learn about Mary. I highly recommend this book. 😊

The author wove together well-known Marian apparitions with private accounts of lucid dreams or visions of Mary. From these stories he drew spiritual lessons focusing on the importance of drawing near to Mary and imitating her example. The language was a mix of traditional devotion and New Age terms and images. I was surprised to see an Imprimatur on this book. But I trust the theologians who gave it the stamp of approval more than my discomfort.
