Once upon a time, in a land not so far away, back before computers, before email, before the internet–Imagine that!–a book junkie was born. That was me.
Fast forward three decades to a soft spring day in 1997, and find me contentedly reading my eleventy-thousandth romance novel. Sighing, I closed the book and say, “I can do that.”
Voilà! A writer was born!
Don’t worry, I’m not going to walk you through the intervening years day by day, project by project, rejection by rejection. A journey like that would involve far more wailing and gnashing of teeth than even I, with my flare for drama, could stand.
What I will do, is tell you that over the years I have written a little of everything including: a novel-length contemporary romance, two screenplays,
dozens of flash fictions and prose poems, short stories of varying lengths, novellas and most recently gay erotic romance.
Gustave Flaubert said, “Be regular and orderly in your life, so that you may be violent and original in your work.”
And I do. I live in a three-story Victorian with my husband, three cats and a yellow lab named Oliver. Most days I write (at least a little) and read quite a lot.
As to whether my work is violently original … achieving that goal may take the rest of my regular and orderly life.
3.5 stars I don't read many stories that have a male character who dresses like a drag queen (and also does the show). And this one is truly sweet!!
CJ is scared to death to tell his lover about that particular thing of him. He isn't aware that his lover actually doesn't mind about that, since he is very familiar with drag queen scenes. That Peter thinks he is beautiful and not because of his clothes. So it's pretty lovely, and brings smile to myself as I wish the pair gets their happiness on upcoming New Year.
Peter has decided to move to Key West - where his fathers own a Drag club and he found the love of his life almost a year to the day before. It's nearly New Year's and he's just bought a lovely condo that he hopes to share with CJ - the guy he's fallen for.
CJ loves Peter - but he's afraid. It seems he hasn't exactly been honest with Peter about his predilection for women's clothing. When he's offer the chance to perform the gig of his dreams on New Year's Eve, he has to decide if he can be honest with Peter. Or will he run in fear? But fate it seems may just be toying with them and their might be a little help coming their way to make things right - so everyone can ring in a Happy New Year!
This is a super cute short story that put me in the holiday mood. I've read a couple other books by this author and enjoyed them.
My biggest complaint is that it ends at 85% of the overall story on my Kindle! :P I really enjoyed this...I love reading about characters in drag and I thought these two guys were great to read about.
Sweet story about a Drag Queen who also likes to dress up outside of work, but now that his long distance lover has moved to town he has to decide what to do about his secret. This was cute, but too short! I wanted more.
Very sexy and sweet holiday themed story. I liked both CJ and Peter and enjoyed watching them work things out between them. I wish the book had been longer though.
