Winter
Winter doesn’t know it yet, but the free tickets and backstage passes that her boyfriend, Tor, won from the radio station are going to change her life forever. Winter is the story about a normal teenage girl who feels detached from most of her life. After a night out at a concert with her boyfriend, she meets the Lead Singer of a Band called InHuman and that's when everything starts to change and the truth comes creeping out.
Ok, i liked this story but i didn't like it. It was like other Y/A paranormal romance stories, but it wasn't and i liked that about it. The story and the premise was good, but i didn't really get a good sense of the places Bren and Kieran came from witch was a little disapointing. I also wasn't overy attached to the heroine Winter either, her detached personality, just ended up making her feel detached from me. I guess the main thing that i didn't like was the fact that the last line from the blurb on the back cover ' Will she be able to choose between what she wants and what she knows is right', and what actually happens, you want her to make that right choice but she just ends up feeling selfish to me, and not doing the right thing.
But apart from that it was a good first book to me, i wish the world and characters were a little more fleshed out, but otherwise it was a good read. I ended up starying up to midnight the other just to finsh it, which is always a good sign. :)
If there is to be a second book, i hope for there to be revelations for Winter, that doing the good and right thing isn't always what you want to do, but you do it anyway and make the sacrifice for the good of everyone and your family. I also hope that she finds peace and happiness in her choice and new home.

Woohoo, another first reads win for me :D I'm sad to say that I didn't end up adoring this though... not through any fault of the book, but just because it really wasn't my thing. Key ingredients: seemingly normal human girl being chased after by three guys at once. Two of them aren't entirely human. They're also brothers. One's the King of Darkness, the other's the King of Light. Seemingly normal girl turns out to be not entirely human either. See? It's like giving a lactose-intolerant celiac a cheese sandwich or something. Awesome for some people, but certainly not for them.
But I managed to finish it. It held my attention, even if at times I found it to be a little overlong - many shifting POVs made it feel like the same thing was being repeated quite a lot before moving on. The start was interesting: Winter, an otherwise normal girl being terribly bored at a rock concert for a band she doesn't care squat about. It was after the concert, where the lead singer/King of Darkness practically kidnaps her and comes creepily close to raping her or something, where things started to turn a bit strange. I didn't like Shade/Kieran at all, and then I grew to like Bren a lot less as time went on as well. Both had very much the creepy-older-guy vibe going on with Winter, and I don't like that sort of thing.
Now, sexy older women on the other hand... ;)
(Also, the mention of the film So I Married An Axe Murderer made me squee because omg I was obsessed with that film when I was like 12.)
One epic plus-point for this book though, was the ending.

The preview of this was pretty awful so I am 100 % I will never read this whole book. Its full of such joyful things as:
the main characters boyfriend yelling at her to stay normal when she spaces out. (probably something supernatural)
The main character has internal musings about how she is the greatest person ever for martyring herself by accompanying her boyfriend to a concert while at the same time thinking she could do better.
And the boyfriend is thinking about how lucky he was to snap her up first (shes GORGEOUS dont you know) and how great it is that she hasnt had any other boyfriends.Because she has no comparision.. *facepalm*
And the girl being catty about not wearing the same clothes as the otherskanks girls do. Then the main character is described as wearing "low riding" jeans.
Info dumping is rampant throughout. Stay away.

While not really the genre that I typically read, I must say that I was pleasantly surprised by "Winter". The beginning of this story might lead the reader to plan on settling in for just another young adult supernatural romance (yuck!), but quickly weaves into one of those fairy tales that is really tough to put down. C.B. Cole has done a very convincing job with the main character Winter, and writes with a very readable style that should be accessible to all sci-fi/fantasy fans. Though I wouldn't recommend this book to the younger set (brief language and some in-explicitly described S-E-X), I would say that this is one very fun and imaginative read!

Winter is a solid first effort with compelling characters and a well-paced plot. I can't wait to see what the next book C.B. Cole writes will hold.
The story is a quick and easy read that takes you through twists and turns of a young woman's life as she discovers a lie and something unusual about herself. The story explores C.B. Cole's detailed world of Fae.
While the title's namesake discovers that much of her life has been a lie I watched eagerly to see how she and those around her would respond, and, for myself, I rapidly read on to unveil and understand the truth and results of the deception.
Winter is written with such vivid descriptions that I could feel the sun on my face and the racing of my heart as I followed Winter through the adventure, this is definitely a book worth reading and a story you will remember.

Not my normal cup of tea , but tolerable . I founds parts of the story interesting and others not so much .....too long for my liking !

Good story but a little long for my taste and didn't like what the characters were. No offense but just my personal preference. Others who like this type of story will love this book though.
