Expanding the Boundaries of Self: Beyond the Limit of Traditional Thought, Discovering the Magic Within 1st edition by Oliver H. Jobson (2005) Paperback
Jobson has condensed 1,000 pages into a comfortable and easy but interesting read. His book is written for those who wish to take that one step beyond the norm to discover their true composition of who and what they are. The book creates a new reality for those who feel limited and trapped in an existence that appears to fence their life in an inescapable trap. Enabling a condensed version of his manuscript, as published, he included the ancient and veiled teachings within the framework of his chapters. This book manifested from his pursuit to find the answers to his spiritual quest which was to unravel the numerous questions that gnawed at him from childhood...is there a heaven, hell and the devil, what is sin, consciousness and reincarnation? To gain the full impact of his message of understanding, tolerance and unity, this reference book should be read frequently for the teachings to be revealed. Jobson describes the underlying and fundamental teachings of all religions as being the same, suggesting that the unifying principle of God, The First Cause or The Eternal Divine Source Of Pure Being, got lost in the interpretation, dogma and zeal of religious competition as each religion competed for dominance and power. Jobson's book arouses controversial, soul-searching, thought-provoking discussions, incorporating a holistic understanding of the inner working of 'mind' and its relationship to self. The path to harmony and peace, taught by illumined souls throughout the ages is included. Regardless of personal conviction, the book stimulates a desire to explore the deep universal secrets included and veiled in simplicity, creating a 'rebirth' for readers. Topics regarding communing, spirituality, the majesty of women, transformation, humanities in management and corporate responsibility, meditation and more are included, r
Expanding the Boundaries of Self contains a little bit of everything. It is part memoir, part devotional, part self help, and part paranormal mystery. This work is written in a conversation tone with topics being addressed as they come up. While this creates a more relaxed flowing feeling, there were times when I didn’t really see the connections between some of these aspects. This was especially true of the bits about aliens or as the author calls them "alliens".
The parts of this book that I most enjoyed tended to be about the author’s personal experiences along his spiritual journey. Some of the stories or concepts were a bit repetitive but often we need to take in something several times to understand the significance. I believe that many who are just starting their journey will find the author’s story and his methods to be quite useful.
