Stories where angels & demons are the focus are foreign to me, one maybe two tops. I went in blind into this read mostly being drawn by the cover without any reviews to go by and not being familiar with this author.

And what did I get? I got the story of Adriel, an angel framed for murder sent to a boot camp of sorts on Earth in preparation for being sent to Hell. I got the story of Eligor, a fallen angel/demon who has risen from Hell and is now stationed at the same boot camp where he has earned a privilege due to certain actions. Things don't go well (understatement!) when these two first meet. See? Adriel, is considered a traitor and that seems to be the lowest of the low no matter where you are. The treatment he initially receives from everyone, including Eligor, is not pretty (another understatement). But of course, things happen and Eligor uses his privilege to take responsibility for Adriel and his training. As they spend time together and some other suspicious things happen, Eligor begins to doubt Adriel's guilt.

I must admit, the beginning of this book threw me off. The modern language and expressions used didn't seem to fit until I realized these were angels & demons of our day and age and I quickly got used to it. They still used swords and daggers, but there were guns and a computer was mentioned as well. I don't remember the last time I had to make so many rapid fire mental switches in order to adjust. There was cruelty, there was action, there was mystery, there was humor, there was smut (they were inappropriately horny at times :D), there was passion, there was love. These guys went to Hell (bad pun) and back in this torturous, action-filled, thrilling ride of a book. It is a dark fantasy. Please keep this in mind.

What started out like a wonderful flight, ended in a horrendous crashed.

This book had a great premise to which it actually delivered. However, at 80% the seemingly smooth ride started to shake with which rang all kind of alarm bells, but I decided to ride it out see how the book would handle it. Unfortunately, my intuition was right and the story fell completely apart at 90%.

Yea, because that's totally "sexy." *gags*

I don't understand the need to trying to turn sex into some kind of magical miracles, or some kind of master key to all conflict. It's repulsive, and a big turned off especially in this case. One thing to notice, the book is very sexual in term that sex seemed to be constantly on both character mind even in the most inappropriate time. Perhaps it was a prelude to this moment, but either way this distortion of sex for the book plotting device turned against it. It ridiculed the tense moment, making the whole book felt like a second rate porn-parody of some fantasy story.

It's a shame so, because it's otherwise a strong book. The plot had great potential, and the characters were almost likable, ignoring their teenage horny mind. It's was a solid 4 starts for most off the book, but I will have to give it 1 star for the nonsense at the end. I guess that equal out to 3. *smh*

Well, what a happy surprise this one was.

Angels and demons are woefully thin on the ground in the M/M genre, and this one has both, excellently drawn and fleshed-out. The heavenly world-building became so complicated at times that it overwhelmed the plot, but otherwise this was an engrossing read with thought-provoking themes and characters.

Idriel is a fallen angel and Eligor a temporarily reprieved demon (who was himself fallen from heaven centuries ago). They meet in a military training camp on Earth, where Idriel is scorned and shunned as a traitor. Initially disgusted by Idriel's alleged crimes, Eligor nevertheless desires his physical beauty and after an incident in which Idriel saves him from injury, Eligor takes the pariah angel under his protective wing.

Political machinations and violent, mysterious threats against the characters form the plot, which intrudes more and more into the developing relationship between angel and demon. Their association is sexual and oddly tender, but trust is a long time coming on both sides, until the danger becomes so imminent that they must rely on each other to discover what's going on.

Secondary characters add much, and the intricate and detailed levels of Heaven and Hell, classifications of angels, and concepts such as angelic glory and grace flesh out the world and expand the story beyond the heavily sexual romp between angel and demon. There is a great deal of sex, some of it magical, well-written and integrated into the narrative.

Engrossing, entertaining and romantic. Four stars.

Wow, it's simple, really HOT story! The way how this story was staged and written, covered all my expectations. And the couple, Suresh and Thane, were HOT together. Highly recommended story!

A rather cute-ish story, even if it was heavy on the sex.
Still, it didn't quite get into the realm of excuse plot. The ideas were fascinating, although rushed. Still, the ideas got relayed.

Interesting worlds, but I just can't stop the mental eye-roll at the whole "sex is the answer" to every problem in the story.

I ended up loving this more than expected (not sure why that was surprising to me) and really got immersed in the world building. I was intrigued with the different levels of Hell, angels fighting against demons, corrupt angels, decent demons, and never quite knowing who to trust. Existence in this world is pretty harsh, so it’s even more rewarding to root for the MC’s. Great story!

I'd rate this a 3.5. I didn't really the book until Idriel becomes blamf. My thoughts/feelings while reading:

I hate Eligor. I hate the type that just beliefs everything they're told and Eligor fits the bill. I mean, shouldn't he have some experience about not being believed being a demon? Mistreated? Thought lesser of? He also gratuitously swears in almost every line he speaks. (This holds true for me until about 65% of the book. I still can't stand him in the earlier portions of the book.)

Iriel's plight is interesting.

The story is just not for me. (This holds true for me until Idriel goes to hell.) I enjoyed the story after Idriel became bamf. He deserved it after being a punching bag the almost entire book. Found his orgasm mid flight amusing.

I save you with sex! Seriously, the reliance on sex to get *anything* done is a bit annoying. Don't they want anything else? Other favors, riches, teachings, knowledge etc It's just *always* dick/ass/mouth. Meh.

I felt annoyed that all the angels and demons had viagra running through their veins instead of blood. It felt like all of the sex, come ons etc were just getting in the way of the plot. Seriously right before we get to the end (if they can stay together, if he can be healed)there's about 25 pages of getting it on. This is one of a few books that I was actually annoyed by the sexual content. I started skimming passed it. Like I don't care they're fucking/sucking/touching I want to know if they can be together or if he'll die or not! D: I think the 25 pages of smut/romance would be better had AFTER we get the ending. Oh, yeah, BTWs here's your soul. Had to come a few times before we could move the plot along. -.-" kthanx

I liked the world-building a lot and I don't mind steamy scenes (and this story was very steamy, trust me!). Suresh is smoking hot and his character is far more developed than Thane's, fortunately!!! Unfortunately, with the little information given, I could not really relate to Thane: he just seems to be a dumb bloke (a traumatized one) and I don't really know why Suresh is attracted to him. AND I am deducting a full star (I would otherwise have loved to give it 4 stars, because the story as such was great, despite Thane!) for the author allowing the guys to get naked every time they are alone, ignoring the fact that only minutes ago one of them has almost died ... Hello??? Suresh is poisoned, in agony, staggering (a lot and on different occasions) and bleeding (often) and Thane is in horrible pain - and the next second they are jumping on each other? Every time? In short: this story would have gained if it had had less (less sex that is) on the one hand, and more (more background information, more relationship - apart from the horizontal tango -, and a lot more development of Thane's character) on the other hand. Some editing/thorough proofreading would not have hurt either ...

The best of live-action anime in convenient ebook form. Fallen angels and Rising demons, all pocket-sized for my convenience.

"Idriel's Sin" is a thrumming, well-paced thriller of a tale, following fallen angel Idriel during his punishment and training as he prepares to enter the underside of hell, and the rising demon Eligor as he trains to re-enter heaven. The mystery is there, the attraction, the suspense, and the oh-so-cinematic conclusion when Idriel finally comes into his own. These are characters you can root for, sigh over, and cry about when the story is done. The backstory is fairly thin, but Di Meo drops you firmly into the plot and hangs on to you for the ride, letting you get to know the leads well along the way. Too many M/M tales forget the romance in favour of pure sex, but that doesn't happen here, as you find yourself falling, as well. By the end, you're satisfied and content, and perhaps a little wistful there isn't a Fallen or a Risen hovering somewhere over your own shoulder.

It was interesting and well-written. Although it talks of angels, it doesn't seem preachy, but also doesn't go into the realm of blatantly "blasphemous" either.

The world creation was amazing and, to me, seemed to indicate at least a bit of research into actual angelic lore.

The characterization wasn't outrageous either, which is always exciting. (I think reading too much badly written homoromantic fic has really artificially lowered my standards... =_=)

I also have to say, I rather like the cover design, even though technically those wings depicted are nowhere near proportional to the human body in a logically feasible manner.

Hmmm. This should have been a 4-star read. The MCs were great, the situation was interesting. I liked the portrayal of the 3 species - mortals who are, well, what we are. Demons who are raunchy and bad-ass yet are sympathetic. Angels who are mostly arrogant pricks with a holier-than-thou attitude. Yet- the end, the resolution, seemed rushed, and instead of finishing my read with a satisfied smile it was more of an "eh." I may re-read it at a later date to see why I reacted that way to a read which had so much going for it.

Story plot circles round Angels and Demons. An Angel called Idriel is framed to kill his teammates and is judged to be send to Hell. He is known as fallen and is send first to Earth to some kind of camp where his real story begins.

Story was interesting I have to admit, but the ending did not feel right.

"To forever," he agreed, his heart light...' Oh, I didn't want this book to end! Fell in love with Idriel. Eligor is a demon after my own heart. Loved the history and hierarchy of heaven and hell. If you like angel/demon books, this is a must.
