New York, 1883...

With her deceased father's creditors pounding at the door, starvation imminent, and nothing left to lose, eighteen-year old Sarah Winslow signs a note to excuse her indebtedness. Little does she suspect that she's just sold herself into an exclusive brothel, her ruination orchestrated by Sebastian Turner, a wealthy gentleman who has bought and paid for her virginal innocence for reasons all his own.

For eighteen long years, Seb has methodically plotted to destroy the Winslow name. And he succeeds. He now owns all of Michael Winslow's possessions, including his lovely daughter, Sarah. Seb has everything he ever wanted.

Only now that he does, it's not enough. He wants more...from Sarah. His needs know no bounds but those of pleasure--a rawhide lasso and gold bondage bracelets--when it comes to the prim and proper lady he has made his Courtesan.

GOD, WHAT A TORTURE!!!
Louisa Trent leave Diana Palmer behind for writing a jerkiest hero ever. God, what was it wid dis man. it was way to disturbing to read H behavior wid "h". and i really really want to strangle h for enjoying all he dish out to her, than she goes around referring to that jerk as her owner???.
i even skip a lot of pages to help me end dis torture..
then finally he recognized his feelings for her and his treatment to her and what did he do??? he decides to pass her onto another rich "protector", offers to find the protector himself, and then volunteers to join them in a menage so the heroine can get used to it. What a selfless guy!
It's just embarrassingly horrible. and it make me sick!! i really wanted to take a shower after reading it.
this one is the first and last novel i would ever touch form this author.

sigh

Such a long, winded book. Sebastian (the male MC) was an idiotic character. Sarah (the female MC) was an equally idiotic character.

I was angry at how she allowed all of that to be done to her. I was angry at how he allowed himself to keep doing all of that to her.

I was fuming at the ending.

I liked it. Very spicy, lots of sex scenes. Man sets out on revenge but falls in love. Features a very dominant, jealous man with a woman who gets off on being dominated.

Very edgy and gritty historical romance. Erotic literature verging on porno with extreme S&M scene descriptions.

If you can deal with the ending's extreme sex abuse scenes, a worthwhile read as an original piece of fiction with more potential than was actually realized due to the anemic character development and frequent sex scenes.

This writer has potential but it will depend upon whether she chooses to embrace the historical aspects more and goes mainstream with real editors or she continues down the e-publish erotic fiction route.

Hoping she chooses the former...
