This is not the tradional sock knitting book. There is really only one pattern in it, with over 80 graphs with photos of many different socks and other garments as suggestions for ways to apply the charts to the master pattern.
Even those who do not make socks may wish for the book as a graphic reference.
Drawbacks...she gives a gauge, but not yarn or needle recommendations. As only experienced sock knitters will attempt these challenges, that's probably not an issue for them.
