In Wasteland we met half-demon David, in Awaited, we get acquainted with Russell. Theoretically, this could be read as a stand-alone - although I don't suggest it - meaning the book is in the same world, but we go through unique stories with familiar characters who will eventually meet up for the bigger picture. Like Wasteland, you can expect a lot of action and romance in this fast paced paranormal novel.

It starts with a bang when Russell and Durk's plane crashes and they meet the only other survivor - Annabelle. I had met Russell in the first book so I was happy to get to know him better as he's a great character. He's a very old soul who's starting to lose sight of himself in his loneliness. He's a complex hero; I grew to understand and admire his strength, his determination. Annabelle is an instantly intriguing character as well. She's mute, she has supernatural healing, and then she turns… bizarre. We meet her as a weak, feeble girl who grows immensely throughout this novel. Being mute makes it hard to get a read on her which left me equally sympathetic and wary. Thus, I enjoyed trekking through her history, as well as speculating about her future. She's a really peculiar character with a story that is positively engrossing.

With such intricate personalities, we clearly need some romance, and Lynn delivers. Russell feels an unexpected, but intense attraction towards Annabelle. Surprisingly, even though it's an instant attraction, it's deep and powerful. You know there are supernatural forces at work which makes it especially interesting; Russell's feelings for her are almost overwhelming even to himself. As with the first book, their connection is felt passionately throughout the story and only intensifies the plot. This is great since the romance itself plays a fairly big part in this book. Their tale is torturous and heartbreaking, but unquestionably romantic.

The world that Lynn has introduced us to in Wasteland is broadened in this sequel. We learn more about the war between angels and demons, as well as how their powers can be manipulated. This is one of the very few angel stories that I was able to get immersed in. It's creative with an original lore that gives us constant surprises and never ending action. The twists keep you perpetually glued to the pages while the plot is revealed in a consistent manner, giving us plenty of excitement without it being overwhelming.

If you're new to this series, you should know that it's labeled in the new New Adult genre, meaning it's not quite adult, but still very mature for a YA novel. It's got steamy scene with characters that are in their late teens/early 20s. Consequently, this is a story that both YA, and adult readers could really get into. If you enjoy great world building with compelling characters and lots of action - the Wasteland series has got to be on your shelf!

Step aside Edward and Bella! We now have two new immortals, Russell and Annabelle to embrace as we read their powerful love story of fate and destiny, Guardians and demons, desire and need, and the power of love. Awaited is a fast paced novel by Lynn Rush that has it all: good and bad, blood and guts, angels and demons and the power of love that saves them all.

A plane ride. A fatal crash for all aboard except Russell and Durk, two Guardians sent to retrieve another Guardian and bring her back to their main headquarters. To their surprise, they find a female passenger buried under debris still alive. After a difficult rescue, Russell is shocked to see that this woman is the same woman he has been dreaming about for the past 3 months. He is deeply drawn to her and does everything possible to keep her alive. She has many deep bruises and gashes and remains unconscious for a long time. But Russell realizes that her bruises are healing very quickly, just as fast as his and Durk’s and they’re immortal. So is this woman immortal? Is she the guardian they’re supposed to find and bring home? But what was she doing on the plane?

Russell and Durk are very confused and try to contact their leaders, but their phones receive no signals so they decide to find the nearest town and ask for help. The woman is still unconscious and they take turns carrying her. She awakens every once in a while but is very afraid of Durk, but not Russell. She seems to be very drawn to him as he is to her. So Russell gives her all his attention. She never speaks but signs to which neither one understands. All Russell finds out is that her name is Annabelle. Finally, they reach a town and find room and board for the night. The girl is awake now and Russell tries to question her but she only answers in bits and pieces. Annabelle has terrible nightmares, tossing, crying out in loud sobs while Russell tries very hard to console her.

Determined to bring her home and hopefully find out about Annabelle’s past, they travel for many days, always with the feeling that they are being followed. Finally, they reach her home and meet her best friend, Halli, who explains that Annabelle and her parents were kidnapped when Annabelle was twelve. Her parents were killed and Annabelle has never spoken a word since. Halli also states that Annabelle has changed quite a bit since this ordeal. Russell is obsessed with finding out what has happened to Annabelle so he can kill the people who have done this to her. She is in his care and he wants to make her feel safe. Still the feeling of being followed and watched makes Russell and Durk very uneasy. How can this be? They have never seen anyone in their travels. Through constant persuasion, Annabelle tells Russell about her kidnapping, how her parents were tortured and murdered in front of her and then she was tortured. Then she was let go. Durk still feels there is something wrong and spends most of his time keeping watch outside for demons to approach.

And then it happens. Durk calls to tell Russell that demons are approaching and they are to leave immediately. But, she is his mate. He will never let her go. He will do everything he can to find her and protect her and bring her home so they can have a life together. He prays to the angel, Michael, his leader, to help him save Annabelle and enlists the help of all the Guardians to destroy the demons and turn Annabelle back into the woman she was before tragedy struck.

I give AWAITED 5 stars! I loved every second of it!!

Read of my reviews at Falling Books!

4.5 Stars

Awaited is a stunning sequel that will send goosebumps down your spine. Lynn Rush has delivered a book that will blow your mind.

This book is told from the point of view of Russell! He was one of my favourite characters from Wasteland and I was really happy to find out that there would be a book about him.

It all begins with a mission. Russell and his friend have been given the task of finding the next Guardian, but something goes wrong. Their plane crashes and they end up in the middle of no where. To complicate everything, they find a survivor. A girl. A girl who Russell happens to have been dreaming about for the last 3 months. He feels a connection with her like he has with no other. Russell and his friend must find the Guardian before the demons discover their location.

I fell in love with the amazing plot line of this story and could not get in out of my head. I think that Awaited has much more interesting characters than Wasteland. And I thoroughly enjoyed their personalities.

Overall, Awaited is an incredible book about angels and demons that will leave you craving for more!

First of all, let me just say that I love that this is a companion series. I loved Wasteland, but I have to say I loved Awaited even more! Russell was to die for. My new book boyfriend for sure. And I loved Annabelle and the mystery behind her. Their romance was sweet and steamy in all the right amounts. The story was exciting and unique. I adore Lynn’s twist on the demon vs. guardians in this series and I can’t wait for book three! If you are in search of an intense romantic new adult series, you must check this one out. Paranormal romance readers will eat this one up!

Awaited is a fantastic continuous on from Wasteland. Lynn Rush has certainly exceeded herself with this story, it has an intriguing storyline, well developed plot, smooth flowing chapters and characters that I’m sure will draw you into their world as well as the pages. I read this book in record breaking time, unable to put it down I was completely engrossed in the compelling storyline and of course the characters within.

A strong male lead, what every girl wants right? I enjoyed the story as well as the slow progressive love that grew between Russell and Belle. The connection was instant, and rather than a wham bam thank u mam storyline, Lynn took her time creating the love between the pair giving the reader that moment when it all falls into place - sigh - Romance is placed and evident, well put forth but for those after some hot under the collar moments this read is a little more mild. Saying that - that didn’t bother me one bit. I felt the romance growing from the start and this alone was heart flipping ;) . I must say that Russell won my heart in this one.. His bravery and character traits grabbed me throughout this story.

Lynn has created a world that I’m sure will draw you in, and also introducing characters from the previous book giving us background information and also getting us excited for book three !! (Can’t wait for the bundle of joy to arrive.)

Belle was extraordinary - her talents Lynn have creatively crafted giving us a different view of The Voice!! I really enjoyed this concept, unique and definably intriguing.

Awaited is filled with action, adventure, mystery, intrigue, romance which I found to be all very well blended in to make a fantastic continuous on from Wasteland !!

Recomended to all the paranormal lovers out there who like there read filled with all the goodies one could want !

Awaited will keep you on the edge of your seat, waiting for more at every page turn !!

My problem with most books is that they start off too slow. That is not the case with Awaited. This book starts off with a pretty big bang, literally. From the very beginning and through the whole novel, the story is fast paced and like a roller coaster ride. There's a lot going on- in a good way. It was super hard to put the book down, even for a moment. It's one of those books that you basically read the whole way through because you can't possibly stop and not know what happens next. I feel that Lynn's writing really strengthened in this book. There's not one single thing I didn't love about it. In fact, I almost feel like rereading it already- that's just how much I loved it!

I have to applaud Lynn Rush. The chemistry between Belle and Russell was MAGNIFICENT! I've never "Awwww"ed so much over two characters. One of the best things about their relationship is how special it is. Not only in the paranormal way, but in the way they communicate. Russell is so tender and sweet. (Where can I get me one of those?) I love how Belle alternates between a vulnerable and strong female character. It was great seeing her development throughout the story. I felt a lot more connected to these two characters, than I did Beka and David, although I was happy when they made tiny appearances in Awaited. And Jessica, too! We also meet new characters, Rain in particular, who I hope is in book 3 because I really liked her.

Like book 1, Awaited has a lot of Paranormal aspects within. This story was very interesting. The plot was very entertaining and exciting, as well as unique.

Anxiously awaiting book 3! Awaited ended in the perfect way to set up for the next novel!

I recommend this book to any paranormal lover that enjoys an action and romance filled tale with a unique twist!

A big thank you to the author for providing a review copy!

Since I have not had the chance to purchase Wasteland and read it yet, I had absolutely NO trouble understanding Awaited. It can stand alone without reading Wasteland. Awaited is a very interesting, fast paced and very well written story. It was so very hard to put down because once I started I had to know what would happen next! I loved the characters in the story and the deep and pationate connection from the beginning with Russell and Annabelle that turned to romance. I felt like I was part of the story looking down at them on their adventures! This is an excellent story of Angels, Demons, romance, action, suspence and surprises around every corner! Now that I am hooked on Awaited, I will have to get Wasteland and read it!! I give Awaited 10*s out of 5*s and it is a MUST read!! Thank you Lynn for an awesome read!!

I was given an ARC of this book from the author for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

This book starts off with a bang - or rather a crash haha Plagued by dreams of a woman, Russell is sent on a mission to retrieve a female guardian, the first female guardian in two centuries. Could it be the woman he's been dreaming of? As luck would have it, Russell runs smack dab into his dream woman. The mute Annabelle is cursed by an ancient evil, tho, so maybe Russell is just out of luck.

As Russell grapples with wanting to claim Annabelle as his own, their attractions grows. But Belle has secrets that she can't tell, and Russell has to fight to keep Belle safe. But can finding the female guardian lead to the reason for Belle's inability to talk? And just how does Annabelle fit into their lives?

I loved the slow unraveling of the mystery and the tension amped up between Russell and Annabelle. Their devotion to one another is evident. Lynn is so good at taking you into the story with her worlds and fight scenes. Man, I really felt the punches and kicks and everything. These characters are so well-written with flaws and personality quirks - and I love it! I can't wait for book 3 of this series!

After so many years alone Russell knows only the job. Find the mark, fulfill his destiny and help save the world from the demons knocking on the door. When he is sent by Jessica to find the next mark with only a vague description of who he is looking for he is extremely surprised when he finds the beautiful Annabelle. He is more surprised to learn she can’t talk.

Annabelle knows something is after her. Taken as a young girl with her parents and witnessing their horrible deaths has left her scarred and unable to trust. Instinctively she believes Russell will keep her safe and with that she begins to let herself open up. Will the growing love between Russell and Annabelle keep her safe or put everything she has worked for in jeopardy?

Awaited is Lynn Rush’s second book in her Wasteland series focusing on guardian angels and their mission to protect humans in a angel against demons war. Rush does a excellent job with her new book and I liked it even more then the first one! In Wasteland I didn’t like the lulls and felt at least in part, that the book got boring here and there. I also didn’t like the huge time jump towards the end of that book. Awaited was completely different! I instantly liked Russell, but to be honest I liked him in Wasteland too. He is such a strong solid character…alpha but downplayed by his emotions and his responsibility in finding his mark to protect.

I really liked Annabelle from the beginning too. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I realized she couldn’t talk because I generally enjoy the conversation between characters. In fact I depend on it. Rush did a great job of getting past the noise and going straight for the heart. I didn’t miss the conversation because I felt the connection between Russell and Annabelle immediately.

I also enjoyed the action in Awaited and the continuation of the story from Wasteland. As it gets deeper into the war between the guardians and the demons I find myself more intrigued with where Rush will take the series in the future books. I also would love to know more about Jessica, the woman who knows everything, and what she sees coming in the future. She knows how everything will end and yet in a attempt to not disrupt free will she tries to let the guardians come to decisions on their own. We are treated to a bit of an insight into her upcoming book (I hope it’s next at least) and I am certainly looking forward to it after the ending of Awaited. I won’t spoil it, but there is a bit of a cliffhanger and a disappearance at the end of this one.

Now I feeI should at least put it out there that there are some strong undertones of religion woven discreetly inbetween the pages of this series. They aren’t blatant really but more subtle. You’re thinking of course, the book is about demons and angels, so it’s only natural that there would be talk of God and free will and all that. But it’s more. It’s the no sex till you’re married thing that caught my eye right away. In a day and age when this isn’t common, and myself not being religious AT ALL, I wasn’t sure how I felt about all that. I guess because Russell is an angel I was more willing to get past it though I can say that if this was any other novel I wouldn’t have been so forgiving. I just think, in today’s age, that no sex before marriage is outdated and almost unrealistic.

Other then that very short dislike, I really enjoyed Awaited. In fact I am eagerly looking forward to the next book and hope I don’t have to wait to long! Each book delves a bit deeper, and this reader is excited about things to come!

I give Awaited by Lynn Rush 4 stars!

Russell, friend and protector of Beka, Queen of the Guardians on Earth, and his friend and follower, Durk have been sent on a mission by Jessica, the Merus of the Light, to find and bring back the first female Guardian born in the last two centuries. Jessica's cryptic in her directions, only giving a possible location, and asking Russell to take extra socks and shirts. But, that's just Jessica's way.

Russell and Durk begin their journey, only to get immediately side tracked by an airplane crash and then, by saving a red-headed beauty who has haunted Russell's dreams. She heals quicker than she's supposed to, but is mute without cause. It's a baffling case, one Russell needs to solve if only for his peace of mind. Because, he's sure, Annabelle is destined to be his.

When they arrived at their appointed destination, it's to find the small town overrun with demons. How can they succeed or even survive their mission? How can Russell claim what he needs... Annabelle as his mate... if only death waits for the centuries old Guardian?

Awaited, Book Two, The Wasteland Series by Lynn Rush is a rockin read from the very first page. In Wasteland, we met Russell who was powerful, but needy and ever so slightly lost, a little fractured. It's his mission to protect Beka until her King could be found, but who knew a half-demon/half-human would become that King? David and Beka are the first consorts in a millennia, and now, it's supposed to be Russell's turn. He lost to the dreams of the red-headed woman and yet, he has no idea who or where she is.. until the fateful airplane crash. After saving the young woman's life, Russell and Durk are plagued by demons. No matter how many are destroyed, more take their place. Russell feels he hasn't a chance. And there's an ancient evil waiting to put it's own plan into play. But, who will be sacrificed? Are the Guardians strong enough to withstand the loss?

Awaited is an excellent follow up to Wasteland, and I rarely say this, it's as good if not better than the first book. Amazing. Thought provoking. Wonderfully told. It was easily read in one sitting. As I sat reading into the wee hours of the morning, I kept checking the pages, not because I wondered how much longer the book was, but I didn't want to turn that last page, the one where the story had to be over. The Wasteland series has become like an old friend, and I don't want to see them leave. Lynn Rush tells a compelling story, one that grabs the reader's attention in the first few pages, and doesn't let it go. I'm already anxious for the third book in the series. Crescent Moon Press has been blessed with talented cover artists, and Awaited is no exception. And what I like the most is the covers reflect the story to come, and we all know, that is a rare commodity in the publishing world. Crescent Moon Press is making a name for itself in the ebook publishing community by signing talented authors, and Lynn Rush is no exception. If you like battles between the ancient evil of the Dark and the goodness contained within the Light, this is an excellent addition to your library. Paranormal romance lovers, changed reality lovers, even urban fantasy lovers will want to give this series a try, so good, it is a must read. I would recommend reading Wasteland first, but if you can't wait, Awaited can be read alone, more than enough background information is given for the reader to be drawn in. But then you'd miss the wonderful tale of David and Beka's story, and you wouldn't want to do that, now would you? Five out of five fairy kisses for this reader.

Awaited opens with Guardians Russell and Durk seated on a private jet, en route to a small Colorado town to retrieve a young woman. She is the first female to born in centuries. They would have preferred to drive for the legroom, trunk space for weapons, and the privacy to speak freely, but Jessica, their enigmatic 56-going on-17 leader, insisted they be on that flight. Annoyed but obedient, they comply with her other strange instructions even while wondering what she knows but won’t tell them. They take extra socks. She gives a bag she packed with matches and a foil blanket. She slips in three granola bars. All of it becomes necessary for their survival when the plane crashes in the Rockies, killing everyone on board except them and a female in the cockpit.

And that’s when things get weird.

Russell has been dreaming about this young woman for three-months. She can hear, but she can’t talk. She trusts Russell on sight, but she looks at Durk like he’s made candid comments to eat her. She has Guardian-like powers, but not the Mark that would identify her as their object of their search. And she has an awful secret.

Awaited is book two in Lynn Rush’s Wasteland series, which takes the reader into a bizarre world of immortals that walk among us. Wasteland introduced us to half-demon David Sadler and Guardian queen Bekka, who are mentioned through the sequel. In Awaited, we learn more about Bekka’s former sidekick, Russell Leonard, a jaded warrior who is going through the motions of serving The Light while wondering for what reason they bother. At his very core, he’s a lonely man looking for a purpose. He’s never before thought about love, but since having dreams of a honey-eyed woman, belonging to someone beside Archangel Michael becomes like an open wound. When Annabel quite literally falls into his arms, his pain sparks an obsession to claim her as his bonded mate.

During my reading of Wasteland, I felt the attention to David's urges a bit excessive. It is almost a third main character of the story, easily overshadowing his mission to deliver a certain teenage girl to his Master. From the beginning of that book, David restrained his urge to outright violate the Guardian queen because doing so would mean losing his soul; he had refused for centuries to give his Master the satisfaction of completely owning him. As Bekka’s attraction to David steadily grew hot enough to sear, his resolve was steeled by a more powerful desire to protect her, firstly from himself.

Russell’s situation is different, but he and David shared one very important aspect…they’re 400-year-old virgins when the right woman enters the scene at the exact right time. (We are talking about people governed by fate, after all.) While reading Awaited, I considered David as I read about Russell, and this time I found their obsession to claim and protect the women they love appropriate.

Wasteland’s relentless pace continues in Awaited as Russell and Durk fight a demon gang and navigate the Colorado Rockies on foot with a human in tow that is both more and less vulnerable than she appears. The series continues with the as-of-yet untitled Wasteland #3, which is Durk’s story after the events of Awaited render him a heartbroken, angry rogue. I recommend this series to fans of Rebecca Hamilton and Jordan K. Rose.

I absolutely adored this book. I have to say I came in not knowing what to expect as I enjoyed book 1, but felt that it could have been better. Awaited far surpassed my expectations and went leaps and bounds beyond book one and held me riveted from the very first chapter.

I wasn't sure how I'd feel about Russell since I felt so strongly about David from book one. I didn't think that Russell would live up to those strong feelings, but surprisingly he did. I felt sympathy for a man who'd lived for song long alone and was losing sight of a purpose he once felt so strongly about. I loved watching him come alive again through the heroine Annabelle. Their almost instant connection is believable as well as touching and you find yourself hoping that things will work out for these two in the end.

I also really liked Annabelle's character. In book one I felt the heroine came across as aloof and didn't really feel a connection to her. I wondered if it was because of the first person perspective; we see these stories through the eyes of the hero. But in this book, even though we are seeing Annabelle through Russell's eyes, she has a life of her own and I felt an extremely strong emotional connection to her. I really see the author's talent in this aspect, as through about 80% of the book Annabelle is mute, cursed by a demon master because of the power in her voice. My heart ached for her as I watched her struggle through Russell's eyes as he fought to help her overcome what the demons have done to her. As he struggles to help her, she struggles with herself and I felt that struggle intensely. I will say that at first Annabelle comes across as a bit weak. After all that she's been through , you come to understand why that weakness is present. After awhile though, I began to get impatient waiting for this girl to come into her own. I wanted so badly for her to stand up and fight, to stop crying and falling apart and retreating into herself. When it did happen....I was not disappointed! I cheered out loud as I read the last 20% of the book and reached the very epic ending. When the power in her voice is revealed, the results will give you chills.

One last thing I appreciated about this book was that the romance was front and center. In book one I felt that the romance kind of took a back seat to all of the Paranormal elements and action. In book one there are battles with demons in nearly every chapter and after awhile it started to get old. But in this book, the author kept those fights to a minimum, causing them to have way more impact, and allowed the struggle of these two finding themselves through love to shine through. The result was winning and I have to say that this is a book I think I could read over and over again. I certainly am looking forward to book 3 in the series!

Steam Level: Warm
Pet Peeves: Ancient/Immortal Paired With Young Mate, Forced Nudity
Favorite Tropes: Plane Crash, Fated To Be Mated, Physically Imperfect or Scarred, Mute

I have read the first book in the series, but it’s been a long time, with a lot of books in between. Even so, I was able to keep up fairly well early on, and while I would recommend reading the series in order, I think that this one stands reasonably well on its own, all things considered.

Readers should also be aware that this is considered “Upper YA” or “New Adult”, and does feature some not-quite-closed-door lovemaking, though it’s written in a way that’s considered very mild by today’s romance novel standards.

I loved the blend of action and romance, and the fact that I was a huge fan of Annabelle from the moment that she appeared on the pages didn’t hurt either. The pacing was wonderful, with just enough “down time” between action sequences for both readers and characters alike to be able to catch a breath, but not so much that anything felt like it dragged.

While I do wish the romance would have been a bit steamier, I knew going into it that this was a New Adult romance, and as such, would be a lot lighter on the heat level than the books I typically read, so that was a very minor point.

Overall, I loved it, and am really looking forward to picking up the final book in the trilogy, TAINTED, which just came out earlier this week.

Russell takes center stage in Awaited. We met Russell in Wasteland as Beka's "brother" and protector. In Awaited, Russell and Durk are on a plane on their way to search for the first female Guardian in over 200 years. When their plane crashes, they are the only survivors besides a mysterious young woman. This woman turns out to be the one Russell has been dreaming about for the past three months.

Annabelle Slater is a 19-year-old mute heiress who was kidnapped and tortured by demons when she was a young girl. When she was freed, she came back different. Dark mood swings, violent outbursts, and disturbing artwork were among the changes Annabelle came back with. Most disturbing is that when these things happen, Annabelle's eyes go completely black, like a demon's. One of Annabelle's vision-paintings was of Russell that she had done six years earlier.

In Awaited, we see the soul-weariness of a centuries-old warrior who has lost his faith in his mission. But when Russell meets the woman of his dreams in person, he feels reawakened. There is a lot of talk in this book about how love is the most powerful thing in the world and we really see how love does give someone a strength they never had before.

Awaited is a much darker sequel to Wasteland, where faith is lost and sometimes love isn't enough. The demons are doing experiments to gain back the power the lost when the Guardians got David. But even with everything seemingly falling apart and being destroyed, there is an air of hopefulness as the story progresses.

With surprise revelations, steamy but sweet romance, and heart-stopping action, Lynn Rush brings us a world where darkness may abound, but love and Light are an unbeatable power. I have a feeling that the next and final book in the Wasteland Trilogy will be Jessica and Durk's story...something to look forward to!

Awaited is an intense and thrilling continuation of Wasteland! It was easy to get sucked into Awaited from the beginning. We are re-introduced to Russell, whom we met briefly in Wasteland. He is joined by Durk, his equally delicious fellow Guardian. ;) They are on a mission to find the next Guardian who will serve the light.

On their journey they rescue a woman that Russell has seen before.......but only in his dreams. Russell immediately knows that he and Annabelle are connected. He knows that there is a large possibility that she is his mate. But he is very aware that she has no Guardian mark so she is NOT the one they are out to find. And he becomes aware that she has been tainted by evil in some way. There seems to be a tremendous cloud of mystery that surrounds her and Russell needs to figure out what is happening, and fast!

Annabelle is surprised to wake up and find that she has been rescued by the man she has dreamed about for years! She recognizes Russell to be hers...but she doesn't know why or how. She just knows that he is hers. She has been through a lot in her short life. But she knows that she can trust him.

Awaited is bursting with all the nail biting action and sizzling romance I have come to expect from Lynn Rush!! And I must say, I want Russell to be MINE, MINE, MINE!! *Winks* I was consumed by the plot and I fell in love with the characters. I am forever hooked on this series. It truly is a fantastic light versus darkness novel! If you love a lot of action and romance full of fire and passion, then you really need to read Awaited! Please, HURRY with the next book Lynn!! (Is it too soon to beg?) I think not!! ;) Haha!

Russell Leonard has been alone for over 400 years. He has seen his Queen find her mate and wonders if everyone gets a true mate. Jessica tell him that he need to pack heavy for the trip to find a new Guardian. When the plane goes down and Russ finds a girl in the cockpit, he is amazed. This is the girl he has been dreaming about about for that last three months.
When the girl wakes she freaks out and hits the other guardian. When she starts to use her hands to talk, Russell realize she can't talk but she can hear them. When they find a little town, they are invited to stay and eat. She hands the girl some paper and a pen to write what she wants to say. That is when the two Guardians learn her name Annabelle. When they go to their bedroom she tells Russ that she wants them all together. He agrees because they have felt demons.
Russ falls asleep only to be awaken by Annabelle. She is pointing out of the window, at first he doesn't see anything. Then he could see six demons. He looks back at her and wonders how she felt the demons.
Annabelle heals faster than a normal human and she can also sense demons. She doesn't have the mark, does that mean she is a full demon?

I love this book. It is the second one in the series and it doesn't disappoint me. Sometimes with a series that changes characters you fell lost. No with this book! You can even read it with out reading the first. I love how Russell shows his loveable side! In the first book you see his cocky/joking side and in this book you see that he is very loveable. It seems that Lynn Rush like to add surprises to her books and I love how she does it!

Action-packed from the onset ~ a story of trust, hope, and inner discovery mingled with twists and otherworldly turns.

The opening scene immediately pulled me into the story. I was there with the characters, feeling and wondering. From a writer's perspective, it's right where a story should start. As the story moved forward, I found myself anticipating the possible roads the story might take. The writer truly engaged my imagination. At some points, the story rolled so quickly that I merely had to keep reading. With saying that, there were much needed breaks in that flow - a breather for the reader to consider what was just read about the characters. This made me wonder even more. ~Great hooking tacit!~

The writing was fluent and structured in an easy-to-follow manner. Word choices were appropriate and clever, adding spice to the paranormal feel. The romantic interaction between any characters was tasteful, sweet, and age-appropriate. I also felt an underlining maturity to those relationships or budding relationships. It was a refreshing change from some of the works I've read recently.

Plot and arc twists were also fresh and intriguing. Corners masked characters' true intentions at every turn, pinning good verse evil but in a unique way. Without giving any spoilers, there were issues of a mysterious handicap which intertwined with a new threat as the story progressed. This was a nice ingredient. I could tell you where this apparent handicap took the story, but it'd be more fun if you read it for yourself!

Like Wasteland, once I picked-up the book I couldn't put it down. Lynn Rush does an excellent job of not only captivating the reader, but keeping us thinking and excited all the way through. Foreshadowing gives hints at what may come, but just enough to make you wish you could read that much faster - then, when the book is done, to go back and read it again, savoring each moment!

I am not a reader of paranormal genre on a typical basis, but I will have every book of Lynn's on my shelf. Her writing goes beyond just a 'story', drawing you into every word. Vivid detail and well-developed characters make you want to walk in the world with them! The layers of characters, storylines, and themes throughout the books and series make these books wonderful reads. Intense love and romance, loyalty beyond measure, and friendship that is true and trusted - some of my favorite things!

I think one of my favorite parts of Lynn's writing is how she interweaves stories, but each book could still be read as a stand-alone. By the time I finished Wasteland, I wanted to know more about Russell and his story, so I was eager to read Awaited. Now, with Awaited, I learn not only Russell's story, but also was updated on the David and Becka journey as well as getting peeks into another story yet-to-come!

Awaited did not leave me disappointed - in fact, it went well beyond all my expectations. This is definitely a must-read!

What I Loved:

I absolutely loved the character of Anabelle. She was sweet, cute, and simultaneously powerful and vulnerable. While I generally do enjoy a good demon story, this one was especially delightful. At first the demons kind of felt wimpy and too-easily defeated, but by the middle of the story it's clear that's only because the main character, Russel, is just a kick-ass Guardian. Also, Lynn Rush does a wonderful job with teasing and leading the reader on with mysterious events and sentences.

What I Didn't Like:

Not too much to complain about here.

My Overall Review:

(5 of 5 Stars) Delightful

I really enjoyed reading Awaited. It was a fairly easy and quick read, with the action starting in the first few pages and continuing until the last sentence. I really enjoyed how Lynn pointed to an unknown, kept bringing the answer within grasp, and then left readers hanging. While I enjoyed Russel's story, the star of the show is definitely Annabelle. Even before I ever saw her on the page, she was talked about so radiantly that I already knew I'd like her. When she was introduced, she was so incredibly vulnerable, and that was absolutely endearing. If you enjoy stories of angels and demons, this is definitely a book that I'd advise you to pick up.

Awaited is the second book in the Wasteland Trilogy although it can be read as a stand alone book too.
This is definitely a book that you cannot put down once you have started.

The main character is Russell a four hundred plus year old Guardian Angel, who even though he is so old doesn’t look older than 25.
The book is quick to get started with Russell and Durk on a plane flying to their next destination for their next assignment to procure a female Guardian who is the first in two centuries. When their plane crashes.

The story is very gripping every page had me wanting more as it got better and better the more I read. Packed with action, adventure, love, Demons, Angels, life and death. It had everything you could want in a book.

The love story between Russell and Annabelle and how they were a great team even from the beginning plus the paranormal element of the Guardian Angels and Demons made it all the better.

Awaited is written by a woman but from a man’s view which I think works really well as Lynn has captured everything from the strong tough man to the soft gentle man that falls apart when it comes to his woman.

The book is very well written, it flowed really well and it was very well detailed which meant my imagination could flow freely.

I loved being sucking into this imaginary world.

I really enjoyed reading Awaited. I wasn’t expecting it to be half as good as it turned out to be and I am so glad I had the opportunity to read and review it.

I adored this book! Better than the first, I found myself emerged as if I never left.

The plot of the book follows the first but slightly different. I loved that the plot faced a big obstacle, like communicating. LOL! At times, it was funny cause Russell was doing his darnest just to communicate with her. He knew her yet he could figure out how to speak with her. This plot flows well along with the characters. Both Russell and Annabelle both share a dark past that haunts then both. Yet, they come together strongly facing it together.

As you can tell from my plot description that the love interest is just as good. There are many moments in this book that placed a goofy smile on my face. I loved watching these two characters who have been fighting darkness on their own for so long, rely on each other. It's awesome to see them love each other and even sacrifice the only love they found just to protect each other. Absolutely selfless.

All the characters of the book have grown. The reader even sees the characters from the first book moving on slowly in their life. The author also works in some clues as to who we can look forward to having their adventure. I adore watching each of the guys and ladies, find the one for them.

Awaited is an highly recommended sequel. Faced with more obstacles, the team is getting larger in number as well as in love. They rely on each other and always have each other backs. Awaited is a well constructed story that will blows readers away!

The only things I have read about angels are the Bible, real life encounters, and “The Moral Instruments” series. So this series of books about guardian angels and guardians, immortals who fight demons on behalf of humanity, have captivated me. I love the idea that there are guardians out there solely for the purpose of protecting us. I have always believed that I had a guardian angel, there is no other way I could have survived being born six weeks early (at least not as long ago as I was born) and all the stupid stuff I did as a kid and teen.
I have enjoyed getting to know the characters of this series. “Awaited” picks up the story started in “Wasteland” and covers different guardians we have been introduced to. “Wasteland” introduces the guardians and guardian angels and tells the story of the King and Queen of the guardians, who are the guardian angels. “Awaited” tells the story of Russell, who we meet in “Wasteland.” Russell finds his destiny and mate in this story.
The story was kept me guessing, first about if the woman they found was who they were sent to find and then if she was evil or not. I eagerly devoured this book in one sitting. I strongly recommend this series for anyone who enjoys reading paranormal romance or who enjoyed “The Mortal Instruments” series.
I give both these books 4 out of 5 clouds. A good read!

Awaited, Book Two, of the Wasteland series is not to be missed.

Russell, protector of Beka, Queen of the Guardians on Earth, is selected by Jessica, the Merus of Light, to find a female guardian, born on Earth during the last two centuries. Accompanied by Durk, Russell sets out to discover who she might be, when they are interrupted by an airplane accident.

A beautiful red-head distracts Russell. She is the woman who haunts his dreams--the one who is destined to be his--forever. Annabelle heals faster than the others, but is mute, a problem he is determined to cure.

Demons greet the duo after Annabelle is healed and no matter how many they kill, more appear to take their place. An ancient evil stalks the Guardians, vowing to silence them forever. Only one thing can save them.

A voice--now silent--yet waiting to be heard.

*Chills*

What a great read. Lynn Rush has done it again. Awaited can stand on its own. It is well-written, fast-paced, and rocks at capturing and keeping your attention. Awaited is absolutely perfect for an afternoon sta-cation.

The follow up novel to Wasteland (the second in the series) is a fast paced story of love, liberation and redemption.

Lucifer's minions are on the prowl to dominate anything good in this world. The Guardians are ever vigilant to protect the innocent and tip the balance in favor of the Light. 'Awaited' is the struggle of one Guardian to protect and redeem what is most lovely to him personally and what could be a potentially powerful weapon in the hands of either side.

Ms. Rush has taken a minor character from her first novel in this series and given him a starring role in a beautiful story that is both sensitive and thrilling. If you like to cheer for the good guys, enjoy a past paced thrill ride and a tender love story, rolled into a quick pleasure read, Awaited won't disappoint you in any sense.

I've got to say WOW!!! If you liked Wasteland, you'll LOVE this sequel!! I couldn't put Awaited down! Not only do we get to see our main characters from the original, but we get to know Russell and Durk even better and some of their deepest desires are revealed. This story is packed with action and romance and will leave you wanting more, prohibiting sleep and other life activities until its conclusion! I fell more in love with the world Lynn Rush created and can't wait for the next in the series (as well as the prequel short story on its way). You've got to read it!

Hmmm... Why did I love this book? Perhaps it's Annabelle (love her 'gift' - no spoilers)? Or Russell (could he be any hotter OR more tender toward Annabelle)? Or Durk? Or the grab you by the throat plain crash opening... or every other, pulse pounding event that keeps you turning the pages until you're done... And now you have to wait (SIGH) for more! Rich settings, unique and individual characters, beautiful, yet discreet, love - this is a MUST read! If you aren't a fan of Lynn Rush before you read this book, you will be by the time you're done. :)

Fast action and romance - perfect for summer!

The main characters are Russell and Belle, both complex and well-written. Russell is a Hero with a capital H - thoughtful, feeling, but strong and determined, and always putting others first. He doesn't rush into his love story with Belle, despite the fact that she's been haunting his dreams.

Demons and guardians, and a journey of action and adventure all combine to give the reader a rollercoaster ride from start to finish. Looking forward to the next book from this author!

Lynn Rush hit it out of the park on this one. What a fabulous romance story with elements of action that keep me flipping the pages. I just had to find out what would happen between Russell and Annabelle. Could they overcome their differences? Or the war that was raging around them? Ms. Rush doesn't take it easy on the couple-- they have to work for it, which is totally worth it. This is a must read.

This is a great continuation to Wasteland. The main characters, Russell and Belle, are strong and determined. Russell is a great hero, you’ll LOVE him. The plot is well developed, and the writing is strong and full of artistic details. The love story between Russell and Belle develops well, and you will fight for them throughout their journey. This is a great addition to the Wastleand series and I look forward to the next book, so get to writing Lynn Rush.
