I had to re-read this as I am about to begin work on a sequel, and I decided the hell with false modesty. I like what I wrote; it's a quick and easy read. I think it holds up pretty well so why not rate it? And, I am already excited about carrying on the story of the vampire slayers. Lots of possibilities . . .

First, this was a Good Reads Give Away.
I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I received this book. Turns out I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the read immensely.
Wolfdietrich Nachitter,Wolf walked the dark seeking substance, his food though was a young girl on her way home alone after a night cap.
Unlike the Vampires of legend, Wolf does not kill his victims, just leaves them waking up with a hangover.
Then Wolf sees Ginny, who reminds him so of his Hannele dead these 400 yrs now.Ginny sees Wolf and is instantly drawn to him, falls for him even after learning what he is.
Then they decide for Wolf to seek his Redemption, to kill the one who had forced this life on him, to hunt down Vlad Drakulya.

I was very fortunate to be a first reader winner and I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Victoria Logue was able to give this well told story a refreshing twist. I loved the characters in this story and the book was hard to put down. It was well written with a great plot line. I highly recommend it for anybody who loves a good vampire story. However don't expect any wild and crazy sex scenes, but rather a romantic love story, hopefully with a happy ending. ;-)

I liked the main characters in this book, as well as Victoria Logue's writing style. She is quite descriptive, which really helps me re-create the story in my imagination. The American and European vibes in the book, German, Turkish and Romanian in particular, give a worldly feel to the story. The story stays very true to history, which made it more believable for me. I think it could have had more adventure in the first half of the book, not that it was bad by any means, I just started wondering when something bigger was going to happen. I liked the ending, even though it seemed to unravel and end to fast. I was left wondering if we will see a second installment to the story, I hope so because this could be the start of a great series. Make sure to have some good snacks on hand while reading this book, as well as a good wine or beer, as her descriptions of the different european/mediteranian style meals and drinks in the story will make you crave a taste of culture yourself. All and all I liked the book, and I have to give my thanks to Victoria and Goodreads.com for giving me the chance to read it.

Regarding her tale -

My Cousin's Wife's Vampire

by

Will Mayo

My cousin's wife's vampire is a thing to behold.
It becomes, here, a wolfhound, leaping upon yonder shore,
there, a bat, flapping away into the night
and yet here too a man who knows the ways of the dark side.
All ready, with the things of the night,
to sink its fangs into some young virgin's neck.
For the blood therein is the devil's finest
and the vampire knows none better.
Meanwhile my cousin stands at the door of the study
with holy water and stakes at hand
to do battle with the forces of darkness that he knows all so well.
All as she types one more line
making the paragraph of the story complete
before sealing off the envelope to her editor.
I turn the page waiting for the next exciting chapter of the saga of the night.
Blood runs cold on nights such as this when no reader knows his rest
except with the tales of love and death come plenty.

This is easily the worst book I have read in such a long time. Here is just a small list of reasons why I wanted to scream:

1. A journalist who can't say no to her creepy boss (a boss who later compares himself to Van Helsing). You can feel her desperation at not wanting to go out with him, which she continues to do so, until something better comes along.
2. The egg sandwich that was eaten before she snuggles up to her vampire lover (I gagged just thinking about her breath).
3. The psycho "mother-in-law" who added NO value to the story whatsoever.
3. The clichés strewn across the entire book.
4. Our leading lady using 'Twilight' as a vampire reference book.
5. The convenience at having everything happen so quickly and easily for them. "We need to find Vlad Dracula.... where is he?.... over there.... ok cool, let's go kill him" The end.

I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone. You would get more value out of reading 50 Shades of Grey.

Finding Redemption in a world saturated with Twilight was a great gift. While it isn't the best vampire book I have read, it makes my very short list with the original Dracula by Bram Stoker, the ultra scary Salem's Lot, Kostova's The Historian and my guilty pleasure Sookie Stackhouse books. Why? because it's a fun read that combines Vlad the Impaler with an unforgettable love story. How cool is that!

Logue's writing flows through the quest story toward a conclusion I didn't anticipate, but quite enjoyed. Ginny Hunter is in many ways the heroine of this story, but the center of the book is still Wolf trying to rid the world of the curse that came through the ruthless Romanian. Four stars because I try to reserve 5 for great literature and this was a fun read that I found hard to put down, a solid four.

A fun read with a story that moves along through time and around the globe. Curious about the Vlad parts of Redemption I did a little research and found that Logue not only got that right, but that the real story fits so neatly with her fiction that it left me with the feeling that it was all true.

I know he's not the hero of the book, but I might be a little bit in love with Abe. What does that say about me?

I won this from Goodreads First Read. I loved it from the moment it began. I knew a bit about Vlad the Impaler and I loved how Mrs. Logue wove his story in with hers. I have to admit it was nice to read a book where a Vampire was a Vampire and didn't glimmer in the sunlight. I almost spit my tea from my nose when Ginny was talking about reading Twilight. I'm ready for book 2 to see where life after takes them, though the ending was satisfying.

A very enjoyable read. All of the characters were very likable, except for Vlad and he definitely fit the villain category. I really enjoyed the pacing of the book, it allowed time for me to get to know the characters and for them to get to know each other. The ending what just what I was hoping for even if it was a little bit too fairy tale. I would definitely recommend this book!

I won this book through Goodreads.

Well, I enjoyed this book, but, I could never get over the fact that he had hairy palms!!! What???? That's not a vampire trait!! And shouldn't she have been a little more frightened of him at first? Anyway, I enjoyed the book.

I liked the way the chapters were divided into scenes with each of the characters. There were passages of amazing detail which added to my visualization of the characters and action.
