What’s exciting about the Stefan’s Diaries series is that it's based on the characters in the TV show, not the ones in The Vampire Diaries books. That means picturing Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder as Stefan and Damon is encouraged. This first prequel volume, Origins, chronicles the Salvatores in 1864 when they first met Katherine and became vampires.

Interestingly, dialogue straight from the show was included in the narrative (“That is a girl who wants to be chased.”), yet whole plot lines, like Stefan’s doomed engagement to Rosalyn, were added. Is that something Stefan will ever reveal to Elena? Likewise, things didn’t play out exactly the same way as on the show, which is confusing—isn’t this “what really happened” back then? Revisionist history much?

For this type of book, it was written well; mechanically and grammatically, it was perfect. There were no typos. There was, however, a few times when actions didn’t match up, as in Stefan’s father picking up a book and then, two paragraphs later, the book supposedly never having left Stefan’s lap. Those sorts of errors bug me.

Learning Pearl's and Anna’s history was a bonus. Who knew they were sired during the American Revolution…and by Katherine? I miss the mother-daughter duo on the show.

At its core, TVD is a story about two brothers. Always has been. So while I know this was Stefan’s POV and thus focused on his side of the events with Katherine, I would’ve also loved to have seen more of Damon’s journey. Everyone knows he was the brother who didn’t have to be compelled. That was illustrated in Stefan’s horrified reaction to a vervain-afflicted Katherine and Damon’s acceptance of her "dark side.” He loved her for what she was; that was why he spent the next 145 years trying to get her back, even though she was, for lack of a better descriptor, a manipulative, self-preserving, super baddie.

I enjoyed this prequel and look forward to the next volume, Bloodlust, because it can carve more of its own path forward, instead of following a road already traveled by the show.

I like to imagine that the ghost writer who wrote this book desperately needed money for a kidney transplant... or his kid's braces... just you know, something to justify this book. It wasn't an effort of love. I would be willing to bet money that author never read the original series nor did he or she (and for some reason I think it's a he) ever really watch the television series.

As most people know the Vampire Diaries is very loosely based on the books LJ Smith wrote, but it deviated almost from the first episode and has gone too far to ever go back -- which in my opinion is good. I think the television show has better story lines than the books did. I think the pacing and characters are more interesting on the telvision show. It's one of the only exceptions to the rule the book is always better in my opinion.

This book was supposed to be based on the television show. It's marketed to sell the back history of a character, emphasizing the drastic revisions the characters went through. Unfortunately, it deviates from the television show in a lot of ways. So basically we have a book series with a television show based on it with numerous deviations and a book series based on that television show with numerous deviations. We're one step away from a worm hole.

Most of the back history about Stefan and Katherine is mucked up here. The order of scenes, like the Founder's Ball, and when Katherine and Stefan first slept together or when she first fed and compelled him are totally out of whack. In this series Stefan's engaged pre-Katherine and she murders his fiancee. So really these books do not even serve the purpose for which they were created.

I'm team Damon all the way in the first series by LJ Smith, on the television show, and fuck it all even from Stefan's POV I'm team Damon. I thought this book would warm me up to him... nope. He's sort of childish and simple-minded in this series. He changes his mind so often about everything it will drive you up a wall. You don't get any drastic insight into the character.

The final huge minus for me is that this book takes place after the burning of Atlanta in the South. Barbeques and picnics and engagements still take place. Damon leaves the army because he doesn't believe in it and there's no social shunning -- he's freaking welcome back to play poker when he wants. It's so incredibly historically inaccurate I don't even have the words. Like, I could go on and on and on, but I won't. Just keep in mind it's very bad, worse than the television show would make it seem.

Origins: Stefans Diaries #1 by L.J. Smith

This is the first novel I've read in over two weeks...thanks a-lot reading slump

I quite enjoyed this book. It was very interesting to read about the past of The Vampire Diaries involving Katherine, Stefan and Damon. I also found being in Stefan's head great.

There's not a whole lot to say about this book other than it was a great insight into the characters lives, and into what Mystic Falls was like pre the Salvatore brother's vampire days.

You also get to see what actually went down between Stefan and Damon, also with their father, which was all very compulsive. see what I did there ;)

I'd definitely recommend to fans of the Tv-Show or Books not that I've read the books! :)

Opening Line: "The day my life changed started out like any other."

So I have to admit this was surprisingly good. Surprising because I’m not anywhere near the demographic the book is aiming at. For starters I’m far (far) from being a YA (although admittedly I do sometimes still act like it) I’ve never read any of the books from L.J Smith’s original series and I’m only a casual fan of the TV show. (Oh, but those Salvatore boys are yummy to look at) However Stefan’s Dairies was a great read and stands perfectly fine on its own, completely separate from either series, except of course for using the same characters and town setting.

Based on historical flashbacks shown briefly in the TV series, here we get to go back to the “origin” of the Salvatore brothers, set during the civil war before they became vampires. The writing is simple but the story is complete and very good with elements of suspense and romance throughout; Stefan trying to live up to his fathers expectations, young love and the jealousy yet unbreakable bond between two brothers as they vie for the same mysterious woman.

I wouldn’t have any trouble recommending this to anyone (of any age) who enjoys historical romances as it can easily be read as a stand alone without ever having seen the TV show or reading the original series. However it is pretty nice to be able to use Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder as visual references :)

Its 1864 and seventeen year old Stefan Salvatore has just proposed marriage to a girl he doesn’t love. As his overbearing father grooms him to take over the family estate his wayward brother Damon returns from the still raging Civil war and a beautiful girl named Katherine moves into the carriage house. Recently orphaned Katherine is everything his betrothed is not; seductive and mischievous she also harbours a grave secret and has fully captured the attention of both Salvatore brothers. When strange killings begin to occur within the town, Stefan’s father organizes a lynch mob to track down the killers. It seems there be vampires in Mystic Falls. Cheers

Oh how I missed Stefan and Damon! ❤️ It’s been 9 years since I first started reading the books about the 2 brothers and I still feel like I’m a teenager who’s super excited about their adventures. Rereading this book brought back a lot of memories. Being in high school and talking with my classmates about who’s the hottest between Stefan and Damon. Talking about who evil Katherine was. And so on... I can’t wait to read the rest of the books!

These book series are absolutely incredible! It soulfully explains and describes everything that Stefan feels, experiences, sees, thinks, etc. There were parts in this book that I was truly surprised and happy about. I wont tell you these scenes because I dont want to spoil anything and because I want you to read this book yourself. Although I will tell you why these scenes surprised me and made me happy at the same time (it was a happy surprise or a giddy surprise). Are you ready? These scenes were featured in The Vampire Diaries TV show!

Awesome, right? I’ve always knew that these book series’ were different from the actual book itself, The Vampire Diaries. It is very obvious why; this is only based on the TVD novels by L.J. Smith and the TV series developed by Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec (you dont believe me? It says so on the cover). That’s (actually) the reason why I bought this book (and plan to buy the others) and why I wanted to read these books.

Trivia: I’ve thought of reading The Vampire Diaries books but I just didnt want to. I watched the series before I heard about the books and when I was interested to read the books (I tried to read it, there was one of the books in our school library and) it just didnt have the same connection I felt watching the series.

The Vampire Diaries TV show series is my favorite TV series of all time, like forever, like for all eternity. And reading the Stefan’s Diaries really helps in understanding and feeling the emotions of every character more. It’s definitely a good read, for me.

So far, VERY unhappy. Just a few pages in, and Katherine is a dark haired girl, instead of the pale, angelic blond she is in the books. PISSED. Why do they have to mess with the way they LOOK in the books. It's not like it matters, and the books were established YEARS before the TV show. Not that I don't love the TV show, also. I just wish that they would separate them now that they're so different!

This book has me torn on what to think of it. The big thing I noticed and DID NOT LIKE was that this book does NOT follow the books. If you read the first couple vampire diary books and read this hoping for a better understanding of the famous rift, forget it. Apparently this book follows only the televised version. I have not yet seen the show so I cannot say for sure, but the scenario of this book has turned me even further off the show. However, if you like the show, then you may like this.
Heading off that rant for the time being...

This book is written from the perspective of our vampire hero, Stephen Salvatore. Although, to start with, he is not yet a vampire in this book, but a young man set to marry a woman he does not love. Enter Katherine, a beauty to whom he is instantly drawn to. This book covers his relation to he, the vampire hunt in his town and a bit of Damon too.

SPOILER WARNING FROM THIS POINT IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE BOOKS OR SEEN THE SERIES!!!

So in the books, both Damon and Stephen fall in love with Katherine and literally fight to the death over her and since she had been feeding off them, the both turned to vampires.
Not quite so here, while they do both fall for her, as Stephen sees her true nature he is horrified and turns away from her while Damon accepts her. When the hunt is on, he helps Damon free her. Yet they fail, Katherine is apparently 'killed' as are Damon and Stephan by their own father. They aren't yet dead though, and are instead something between vampire and human. Stephen hunts down a young girl, feeds as he finishes the turn and giddily gives the same girl to his brother so they can be vampires forever together.

So stopping there for a second...that does not even make much sense to me. Stephen was horrified by Katherine in the end. Utterly repulsed by her. So suddenly he is Gung-ho about being a Vamp? Makes no sense to me.
Another big difference from the books is that Stephen is the one unhappy as a vampire and Damon glorifies in its power. in this, Damon didn't want to feed and live forever.

So overall, the story was fun to read. Easy flow and nice characterization but is sways so far from the book and the books came well before the series. This ghost author should have followed the books, not the series! Otherwise, let this be an episode and not a book. Let a book follow a book. Sheesh! Okay, I am putting an end to this rant. But it is why I rated it the way I did. Even though the cover does say based on the show, I feel is should not have been so, and that, honestly, even the show should have followed the books better.

Okay so if you're new to Vampire Diaries? This is the book based on tv show that is based on the book series. Got that? No? Allow me to explain.

LJ Smith wrote the original Vampire Diaries series (which she is still writing as of the time I am posting this review). Then they go and make a tv show based on those characters (on the air as of the time I am posting). This book, if you just glance at it states she is one of the authors on the listing, but really if you look closer it's just based on her characters. Also based both on the cover and a reading of the book it's clearly targeted at the people who love the show specifically more than the fans of the books. In fact if you've watched the show, it will seem eerily familiar as it sticks fairly true to the Stefan backstory as presented to us thus far in the show.

If you've been keeping up with the more recent LJ Smith Vampire Diary books, you'll definitely feel the difference both in that this is written by others and that it's meant to be a companion piece to the show instead of the book series. It has a slightly darker more adult tone than the book series and doesn't feel as shall we say "out there" as some of the LJ Smith ones have felt recently.

If you're a fan of the series I don't think you'll be disappointed though you won't feel as though there is anything new here if you've been watching the show. The second Stefan diary sounds a bit more promising in that department.

"You have to believe in what you do. Otherwise, what's the point?"

This was my second time reading this book and let me tell you, my reactions were still the same from back when I read it for the first time. Based on the TV show, "The Vampire Diaries", Origins is the story of Stefan and Damon before they became the blood-sucking vampires we have come to love and hate. This is the story of Katherine and her stay at the Veritas. This is the story of how a simple girl from Atlanta roots out the perfectly good life three men have going for themselves, resulting in the kind of chaos that can have a deep traumatic result.

The book starts off with Damon going off to war and Stefan trying to work in his father's footsteps to manage the estate. Now this would have been fine except for one tiny detail. Although Stefan is completely okay with running the estate, he is not okay with what his father wants him to do next for the estate—marry Rosalyn and doom himself for life. He doesn't seem to understand the concept of marrying for love, and since Stefan really doesn't love anyone at the moment, he isn't even ready to listen to his arguments.

What I liked most about the book was how it took scenes directly from the show and employed them here. For example, the ones in which Katherine arrives at Veritas, or that one memorable one in which they play ball. Or even the Founder's Day Ball one. Needless to say, throughout the course of the book, I could perfectly imagine how each scene was happening. (I mean, I already knew most of the characters.)

However, the book definitely lacked description. Perhaps, it was written keeping in mind that everyone who would give it a shot would have definitely watched the show. But what if that was not the case? If it weren't, then the person reading it would be grossly disappointed for the lack of descriptions. (I mean, if it is someone who has read all the books and wants to read more.)

Other than that, I think the book was fairly good. I quite liked how Katherine was portrayed as this non-conventional girl (because well, when was she really conventional?) and how she entranced Stefan. I would have loved to see more of her time with Damon since it was Damon who was completely okay with that idea of a vampire and not Stefan. What I mean is, to see a human entranced by a vampire, despite knowing they are anomalies would have been beautiful. Who knows, maybe this will give some lone author a suggestion. (Winks)

Once I heard that the CW was releasing a trio of NEW vampire diaries books I can say that I was a little wary, but after picking the first volume "Origins" up @ my local Barnes & Noble I was interested to see if it worked since I'm a huge vampire diaries fan I've been since I was 13 and I'm 22 now :D turns out! that I loved the entire book, there wasn't a dull moment & the storyline just flowed so beautifully! It is from STEFAN SALVATORE'S point of view & I'm team stefan & I freaked when I heard it was from his POV. I really hope they include the stuff used the first volume in the show such as Rosalyn Cartwright (Stefan's Fiance). I recommend it to everyone even if your not a full fan of the TV show, this is a lovely tale & I can't wait to read the second volume coming in January 2011!

MORE? MORE! @ P.S. I love that book!

First time I touched Vampire Diaries was back when I was in my early teens. I absolutely loved the first four books. Then after ten year or so pause L.J.Smith decided it was time to write more sequels to TVD. The Return trilogy was alright, however I know not all of it was written by L.J. Smith. So when other day I saw many copies of TVD in my library I went to check it out and saw this one. It is based loosely on L.J. Smith Vampire Diaries as well as on the TV show created by The CW.

This is the first book of Stefan's Diaries and therefore tells the story of how Stefan and Damon met Katherine in the TV show version. If you have watched the TV show you know how it happened and it is pretty much same in this book except for Stefan. But bare with me.

THE WORLD: In old times when gentlemen were supposed marry ladies picked for them by there father Salvatore family lived in Mystic Falls. Yes, same TV show weird name. Anyways, the world is simple, we have all these boys and all these girls getting married and worrying about silly things. There are dark things in this world but few are aware.

CHARACTERS: There are three main characters in this book: Stefan, Damon and Katherine. Now let me start with Stefan. He is kind and silly and falls in love with Katherine blindingly. That is what we already know. But what we did not know and what was for me a big surprise was that Stefan is also a huge coward. He gives his one true love (TV Show srsly ruined this phrase for me, now all I can do it roll my eyes whenever I hear it) for just being looked at as good. I was super shocked. Did not see that coming at all. Shame on you Stefan. Then we have Damon...just old boring Damon except that he is actually the smart one in this book. Strange. I always picture TV Damon as annoying spoiled brat. And then comes Katherine. She stays exactly like in the show: selfish, stupid and manipulative. I know many of you would add pretty but frankly I do not see it. I just don't.

LOVE: We all know it. Damon loves Katherine. Stefan loves Katherine. Katherine loves Katherine.

PLUS: It refreshed my memories of the show.

MINUS: It was like reading a draft of 12 years old child. No creativity, no actual value.

OVERALL: I read it and that is all. It was decent enough to finish but I will not read further any books based on the TV show.

MORE? MORE! @ P.S. I love that book!

I am absolutely horribly disappointed in LJ Smith and this book. Horribly!!

Ok, so if you're reading this book, you've read every other book in the VD series. I mean, I have no clue why someone would pick up a series halfway in, so I'll talk like you've read them all.

In the BOOK VD series we've already been given a description of the turning of Stefan and Damon. We know what happened because Stefan himself tells Elena. Both boys fall in love with Katherine, she fakes her death, they kill each other, and because they have her blood they are turned.

This book however gives a COMPLETELY different story. If you've watched the SHOW VD it tells that story.

I'm not sure why in the world LJ decided to change a story that she's already told. It completely ruins me from ever reading one of her books ever again. How can I know what story she'll be telling? I was very much looking forward to the last of the VD: The Return series to come out, but how will I know if it follows the old storyline or the new one?

I would also like to point out that it felt VERY forced the way LJ added in characters from the show: Pearl, Anna, Jonathon, etc. The old VD books made you connect with every character so you knew their importance to the storyline, but this book did not do that in the least. I felt the only person it wanted me to like was Katherine, which ironically is someone we're made to hate in the old books. I ended up LIKING her after this book, which seems rather stupid given how much we're made to hate her in previous (later?) books.

I am thoroughly disappointed with what LJ did to this series, I've lost complete respect for her as an author. Just because CW takes your story and changes it in every way possible (essentially the only similarities being the main characters' names and the fact that it's about vampires) does not mean that you should change your story 6 books in. What the ______ LJ, what the?

Long story short, I went rogue with this entire vampire series. Oops?

Origins was pretty much word for word and scene for scene of the show. It was still pretty interesting to get more from Stefan's point of view because we don't really get that much when it comes to show. Yeah, we get some snippets of his past with Katherine and Damon.. but I feel like this book gave a bit more background information as well.

Doesn't mean that it didn't feel like I was watching an episode of the show - because it totally did. Now I feel like I need to re-watch that series but maybe I should finish all the books beforehand.

Other than that, it was interesting seeing how Damon and Stefan became so infatuated with Katherine pretty early on. Which I can also understand since the girl was a very mesmerizing vampire. Since I've already seen the show before I know that these two brothers do drift apart but they do come back to Mystic Falls, VA and it does become entertaining.

I guess I will carry on and try to finish this entire series.

If you've followed the tv show Vampire Diaries, you'll be familiar with all the events in this book. It is Stefan's diary, but it starts where he gets engaged to a girl his father wants him to marry to secure his social standing in town. Then Katherine shows up, and Stefan can only think of Katherine. She is enchanting. At Stefan's engagement dinner, his betrothed is suddenly killed by a vampire, which alarms Stefan's vampire-hunting father and Jonathan Gilbert, Sheriff Forbes, Mayor Lockwood. But this opens the door for Stefan to have a love affair with Katherine. Damon had returned from fighting in the army, and he has his eyes on Katherine, too. Katherine enchants both brothers, but she claims to love Stefan. Then if you've watched the show, then the rest of the book is the familiar story of the vampires being found by Jonathan's compass during the vampire siege, Katherine being tricked into ingesting vervain when she bites Stefan and was dragged out to the vampire cart, muzzled, and with 23 other vampires, dies in a fire at the church. Stefan and Damon are shot while trying to rescue Katherine, dies, and finds out they've both been turned into vampires. I felt like this book is a companion recap of the show itself, but what does make it interesting was Stefan's viewpoint, and how different Damon seems before he turned into a vampire. If you love the show and want a companion book on it, this one will be a good souvenir. It is nothing at all like L.J. Smith's original Vampire Diaries series, but you must know this is the TV Show version of what has already played out in the flashback to when the Salvatore Brothers meet Katherine Pierce episode.

The other books in the TV Show series will probably have more original storyline since it will be the stories of Stefan before he meets Elena.

3.5 stars.

This book is definitely Stefan's diary but it is very much a prequel to the events of Vampire Diaries. It actually begins before Katherine even shows up. The first half (?) was pretty boring and drawn out but it got much better when Stefan got more involved with Katherine and found out about vampires. It ends right after he becomes a vampire. From what I have seen, there will be at least two more books.

I would recommend this to someone who enjoys the TV show. It is co written by the writers of the show so it has that same feel. There is sex in the book and although it is not detailed, it may not be for some teens.

I do have to say that I enjoyed reading about Stefan's and Damon's relationship. I learned a lot about them and why there is so much animosity later in the stories. It was also refreshing to read a bit about Stefan being a bad boy and Damon NOT!

ETA: I received the book for free through Goodreads First Reads.

This is most definitely NOT a review of Origins (The Vampire Diaries: Stefan's Diaries, #1) It is, instead, my reaction to the book The Turner Diaries, and, now even more important, my reaction to Goodreads taking said book out of its catalog and making it technically impossible for me to post my reaction to it under the entry for it in the NOT A BOOK section here: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...

I guess I should be thankful GR even let me list it as read there?

My Actual "Review"
I have had The Turner Diaries by "Andrew Macdonald" (pseudonym of William Luther Pierce) on my self-assigned reading list for many, many years now, but was always loathe to read it both because of its racist content, and because I'd read about how poorly it was constructed.

Finally forced myself to do what I consider necessary homework on the U.S. white supremacist movement as it exists today; this book is considered to be one of its seminal "origin stories."

Imagine my surprise when I came over to Goodreads to write about my reaction to The Turner Diaries. It basically wasn't here. I had to do some googling to find out that at some point after the January 6, 2021, white supremacist-led insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, Amazon had decided to quit carrying the book for sale. And we all know who owns Goodreads, right?

The GR reasoning? Well, this was the answer they gave a fellow user who asked for just that March 8, 2021:

Thank you for reaching out. As a book review site, Goodreads provides readers with access to a book catalog which covers a wide-ranging variety of viewpoints, including topics and ideas that some customers may find objectionable. We are also mindful of the issue of censorship. With that said, we take the responsibility of supporting our community of readers very seriously. We listen carefully to feedback and, in rare cases, we no longer include a book in our database.

Sincerely,
The Goodreads Team

Really, Goodreads? REALLY? I mean, c'mon, y'all: You include Mein Kampf, The Communist Manifesto, The Anarchist Cookbook, AND The Unabomber Manifesto, but not this?

Do you not realize that by attempting to suppress it you are playing right smack dab into the middle of Pierce's hand, the gospel that his adherents believe, which is that "the System" is rigged against those which he perceives and depicts to be the heroes of the story? That it wants to keep so-called important information out of the hands of the masses? That "the System" wants us only to believe "fake news"????

And yes, yes I realize that Timothy McVeigh followed the outline therein for the horrific and unconscionable Oklahoma City bombing. But are you going to not include the wonderful Sue Grafton Kinsey Millhone "Alphabet" series mysteries because they could provide people with outlines on how to commit murders?

My take on it all, having read the book now, is that sure, fine, if you're Amazon or Borders or an independent book store or whatever, don't offer The Turner Diaries for sale if you don't want to. Don't offer the Bible, don't offer Fifty Shades of Grey, don't offer Harry Potter, don't offer whatever. Your money, your call.

But if you are a social media platform about books, then have 'em all out there. The ones that have an ISBN, I mean. Not self-published books of "poetry." Otherwise you are setting yourself up as a gatekeeper, and that's a whole rancid kettle of fish, both legally and morally.

And you know what else? From what I've read, this isn't even the worst book by Pierce in terms of violence. So why not go whole hog and just take down all works by him?

Ugh.

OK, so, to the book itself. Which, obviously, I'm reviewing on Goodreads, because somehow someone much more clever than me found a way to get it on the platform as NOT A BOOK by NOT A BOOK.

I was mainly taken about by how anti-Semitic it was. For some reason had never read about that angle. I was also surprised at what an easy read it was. Was it great literature? Well of course not. But it wasn't any more or less highbrow than The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown, which I'm _still_ embarrassed to have to admit that I've read.

No way in the world I'm gonna give it any stars, even though I didn't like it, and wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless they, like I, have long studied history, politics, and war. (And, in my case, had to at one point write about a bunch of "commandos" doing training with a known mercenary in the woods of Alabama.) Or unless they have a genuine interest in understanding how some people they grew up with seemingly turned into raving conspiracy theory lunatics over the course of a few very short and very painful years.

I will finish this by saying that I realize I have probably flagged about umpty-leven red flag algorithms with all of the reading and writing I've been doing on this topic today, not to mention the fact that I had to download a pdf copy of the book to get to read it in the first place. (I certainly wasn't going to pay money for it, and none of my easily-accessible library resources had it.) So if I am suddenly "disappeared" from social media for a while, and Goodreads in particular, well.....you'll know why.

Here is a link to one really good piece I read this afternoon on the whole Goodreads situation: https://haljohnsonbooks.wordpress.com...

Alas, I cannot find a link to The Birmingham News article I wrote about Frank Camper at some point in either 2001 or the first half of 2002. Google him sometime. What a piece of work.

BOOOO! Agreed with others... leave it alone. They're Italian, not American. They're much older in the books than in the show. If you're going to remake the characters for the show, at least leave the books alone. L.J., why would you let this happen?

I very recently binged on all 171 episodes of Vampire Diaries And felt the need to closure.
Having watched the show this book perfectly ties in with the plot of the show.
This covers the time between Katherine's arrival in Mystic Falls and the boys first feed.
There is little new for show fans and I can't imagine much there for show strangers.
I am Team Damon anyway

This pretty much followed how things played out in the flashbacks on the Vampire Diaries TV show. I did find it amusing that Katherine had dark eyes and dark curly hair, more like Nina Dobrev than the Elena from the Vampire Diaries book.

i’m sorry but the writing is abhorrent and so repetitive, stefan is presented as so simple minded it does not do the show justice

This girl loves vampires. :) I love mystery and the love stories that develop in the midst of it. I liked many characters in this book. I enjoyed reading each one of them. The story is gripping. The bonds of friendship are so strong and yet so fragile. Damon, Elena Stefan love triangle was handled well. It was great that the two brothers protected each other no matter what. If you like small town stories like me, I highly recommend this series.

This is the story of Stefan, Damon and Katherine and how she turned them into vampires. It's exactly the same as the flashbacks in the show.
