I am very familiar with this script as I played Lady Larken in my high school's production of it.
The show is a hilarious blast of fun and there is a wide array of comedy that has the ability to go over the heads of younger audience members while providing entertainment for older members.
If you're looking to watch a movie of this show, I completely reccomend the version starring Carol Burnett as Winnifred.
Overall, it's a wonderful performance piece and the voice parts are fairly easy to pick up on as well.
Super cute. I don't love the music, but it's from the 1950s, so I guess that's to be expected. This is, however, surprisingly frank and positive about sex (at least the heterosexual kind), and I really appreciated that.
This musical is silly and sweet and perfect for middle school performers. There is a lot of opportunity to showcase both ensemble and solo performers. You can't beat the swamp princess, Winnifred, and her plucky confidence!
