In the 1850s, a madman proclaims himself the Son of God and raises an army, taking over half of China. A century and a half later, his descendent and legions of devoted followers plan to take over more than just the Middle Kingdom. When alpine engineer and mountaineer Jason Quinn, a man with a past mired in tragedy and violence, meets archeologist Dr. Eva Rayjek after a plane crash in the high Himalaya, neither of them are expecting wave after wave of Chinese assassins intent on killing them. Pursued to America, the frozen ice of the Gulf of Finland, and the heights of Hong Kong, Quinn and Eva connect her investigations with the machinations of charismatic shipping magnate and cathedral-builder, David Hong. As a scheme to obtain a private audience with the Pope at the Vatican comes to fruition, Hong’s fanatical followers are preparing for global warfare. If Quinn fails to stop Hong’s plan, the entire Catholic Church just might crumble. RESURRECT is the first book in the Jason Quinn series. Fans of Matthew Reilly, Jeremy Robinson, James Rollins, and Clive Cussler should all enjoy this first adventure in the exploits of mountaineer Jason Quinn. PRAISE FOR "RESURRECT by Kane Gilmour is a smart, taut thriller that takes the genre forged by Clive Cussler and makes it fresh again. The combination of history, conspiracy and explosive action makes the book impossible to put down. Highly recommended!" —Jeremy Robinson, bestselling author of INSTINCT and THRESHOLD "If you're a fan of thrillers, and you haven't read Kane Gilmour's Resurrect, you need your head examined. Quickly. Gilmour mixes Clive Cussler with Matthew Reilly, then adds a healthy dose of his own style. The result is a debut novel that stands with the best in the genre and leaves you ready to pound on Gilmour's door demanding the sequel." —Edward G. Talbot, author of 2012: THE FIFTH WORLD and NEW WORLD ORDERS “I know I’m not the first to say it, but it bears repeating. Kane Gilmour has tapped into the same creative vein that energized Clive Cussler’s earlier Dirk Pitt novels. It’s all there, from the pitch perfect character chemistry to over-the-top action. If you’ve been craving some old school Cussler, you really need to read RESURRECT.” —Sean Ellis, author of INTO THE BLACK and MAGIC MIRROR “I understand that RESURRECT is a first novel and to say it was impressive would be an understatement. A very entertaining action thriller. Well paced and hard to put down.” —E. Bard, ThrillReads and Reviews ABOUT THE Kane Gilmour has lived all over the world. He has worked as a physical therapy assistant in the U. S. Air Force, as a clerk in various retail positions, as a human trash compactor for a freight company, and as a teacher, a teacher-trainer, and a teacher of teacher-trainers. Recently, he has worked as an editor for an IT firm and as a freelance editor for thriller authors. RESURRECT is his first novel. Kane lives with his wife, son, and newborn daughter in the wilds of Central Vermont.

Resurrect follows hero Jason Quinn as he, along with Dr. Eva Rayjek, races to foil a madman's plot to topple the Catholic church and plunge the world into war. The plot is teeming with action-adventure goodness: an intriguing historical mystery, a tough, resourceful hero, a dangerous villain, and a globe-hopping adventure filled with chases, escapes, and action to spare.

Kane Gilmour is the co-author of Callsign: Deep Blue and the forthcoming Ragnarok (with Jeremy Robinson), and has been editing Chess Team books for a long time, and you can clearly see parallels in his solo work. The action is non-stop, and he even includes the Metal Storm weapons that are a favorite in the Chess Team books! The Clive Cussler influence is also evident (which I consider a very good thing.) The plot structure is much like that of a Dirk Pitt adventure, and Jason Quinn is reminiscent of Pitt, not only in his toughness and resilience, but in some of the little details as well.

I think Dane Maddock fans will enjoy Resurrect. I hope you give it a try!

Had this in my "to read" list, as I'd read the collaboration Kane did with Jeremy Robinson in the Chess Team/Jack Sigler books, but hadn't made it to reading it yet.

I wish I had read it sooner!! What a ride!!! :) Wow

The story kicks off with a plane crash in China, in a deep remote area, and the thrills continue through the entire story. Never a dull moment...

After the crash, the survivor Eve meets up with Jason Quinn and Curtis Johnson, and the three of them manage to squeek out of many trials, people trying to bring a mountain down on them as Jason and Curtis do their jobs for Argo, to trying to kill them using a Helicopter, to various other events, including a battle inside St. Peter's Basilica!!!

Quinn is a kick-butt, yet somewhat mysterious character, Curtis comes across more as a whatever I can do to help, lets get the job done and compliments Quinn!!

The story takes the three of them all over the world, trying to find out why someone is trying to kill them and what secret are they trying to protect, all the while trying to uncover that secret...and not bring St. Peter's Basilica down around the Pope's head! oh the horrors just thinking of that for this Catholic gal!!

The action keeps you moving through the story, and a good book for me is one that makes me want to stay up and read when I really sould be sleeping... I lost many hours of sleep reading Resurrect!! The ending was great and made me laugh a little... another good feature of a book for me!!

I look forward to reading more in this story and the end of the book says that Quinn will be back in Frozen and I am definately looking forward to it.

I also hope to see Kane and Jeremy Robinson collaborate more in the future of the Chess Team books, they teamed up for the Deep Blue Novella and for the full length novel Ragnorak and both books were great!! A definate good team writing there!!

I highly recommend this story to anyone who likes Jeremy Robinson, Cussler, David Goleman, and Greg Beick to name a few... you won't be disappointed.

What did I think? I think I liked this thriller by Kane. Reminds me of a very young Dirk Pitt (Clive Cussler) or Philip Mercer (Jack Du Brul) thriller. Way over the top, but isn't that why we read these type of adventures? Kane has a long way to go to catch up with Clive & Jack, but Resurrect is a good start. I am getting ready to read the Chess Team novel he co-wrote with Jeremy Robinson: Ragnarok A Jack Sigler Thriller by Jeremy Robinson and I'll see how he fares then.

A fun read, probably deserving 3 stars, but it was full of thrills and brought back fond memories of my first Dirk Pitt adventure years ago: Raise The Titanic! (Dirk Pitt, #4) by Clive Cussler .

It starts with a nearly empty plane crashing in the Himalaya. Archeologist Eva Rajek struggles through the cold and the wreckage, looking for survivors. When alpine engineer and mountaineer Jason Quinn, a man with a past mired in tragedy and violence, rescues her, neither of them are expecting wave after wave of Chinese assassins to try to murder them.

this book was full of adventure and some crazy stunts. You just have to love a man that is full of action and a little crazy.

this is Kane Gilmores first book that he has written alone. I just love the hero Jason Quinn and I hope to read more of his adventures. He is becoming one of my favorite authors.

You got Chris Kuzneski, Clive Cussler, Andy McDermott and now you can add Kane Gilmour to that list with his first Jason Quinn adventure. It is by far his best achievement in fiction, there is never a dull moment in the pages of Resurrect. A superb, fast-moving action-Thriller, with humor and lots of cliff-hanging suspense. I cannot recommend this read strongly enough, if you like action, a rugged likable hero and fast-moving plots, this novel is for you. Remember those two names: Kane Gilmour - Jason Quinn.

The whole point of reading (in my opinion) it to be whisked away from the monotony of life & enter another world - one in which your imagination runs wild. And Kane Gilmour's "Resurrect" does precisely that! An engaging read filled with action, adventure & intrigue, Gilmour weaves an incredible tale that leaves pushes your imagination into overdrive! The shifting POV's were perfect - the underlying plot brilliant. I look forward to reading Frozen, the next Jason Quinn adventure.

I thought Resurrect was a great book. Jason Quinn is an awesome Rock Climbing hero. The plot incorporated a lot of different elements from history and modern science and it was overall just a great action novel. It was very well paced but still exciting. I would place Kane Gilmour above a lot of other authors in the action Genre and I look forward to his next book.

This is a great book! The characters are likable, strong, believable, and funny. I'd really like to see them again. This book is comparable to those by James Rollins and Boyd Morrison. Awesome suspenseful action, in wonderfully entertaining detail. A thrilling and intricate story. I really recommend it.

Resurrect by Kane Gilmour is action packed. Imagine a combination of Chev Chelios (Crank), Indiana Jones and James Bond and you have Jason Quinn. Mr. Gilmour even manages to portray a strong female that can keep up and hold her own. I am generally not a reader of this genre but I am definitely looking forward to the next installment of this series!

I had this book in my library for quite some time before I read it, and that is the only disappointing thing I can say - it took way too long to start reading it. Resurrect is an action- packed adventure that was difficult to put down, I enjoyed it thoroughly. Jason Quinn is a great character, I definitely want to read more.

I'm rather conflicted in my feelings for this book. There was tons of action and the storyline was pretty good but I thought the writing was rather clumsy in a lot of places. While well proofed, I think a good editor would have made all the difference in the world. As for the action, as I said, there was plenty but a few more breaks would have been nice just so I could catch my breath. Finally, the end of the book was abrupt. The story just ended. I was looking for any epilogue or some final words to tie things up but the story just stopped which was rather disappointing. On a positive note, the chapters were short which kept me turning pages just so I could keep up with the action. 3 stars for mainly the writing technique but with the action I think 3.5 overall. This will not deter me from picking up a sequel should it ever become available.

It’s a good thing they are in great shape!

This book is about the downfall of a megalomaniac, David Hong. It is also about his various assaults on an archeologist, Eve Rayjek, an engineer, Jason Quinn, and Jason’s buddy Curtis Johnson. The characters also travel the globe going to places you may never have heard of before, as well as what many consider the most important and recognizable place on earth. The story starts with action and continues non-stop until the very end. There is some downtime for the characters, but the author cleverly keeps those moments short and then takes you right back into the action.

We start with a plane crash caused by a suicidal Chinaman. The only survivor is Eve. However, she’s on a mountain top, in a blizzard. In steps Jason who just happened to be working with a team close by and saw the plane crash. From there Eve, Jason, and Curtis. From here, things seem to go from bad to worse as the three are chased around the globe by Hong’s men. Stops are made in Denver, China, Finland, and the Vatican. There is also an epic battle on a train. With Eve and Curtis by his side, Jason is an unstoppable force. And through all this there is a budding romance between Eve and Jason.

The characters are believable. The scenes are well defined. The story is engaging. This is the 2nd time I have read it and it was just as enjoyable as the 1st. Kane Gilmour is a fantastic writer of adventure and I can recommend him for readers who like lots of action in their books. If you read James Rollins, Jeremy Robinson, Clive Custler, and other authors like them, you will love this story. It’s the only one so far that features Jason Quinn and Curtis Johnson. Hopefully more will be forthcoming very soon.

RESURRECT is Kane Gilmour's first work, and I would EASILY put it up there with other first works such as Dale Brown's Flight of the Old Dog, Clive Cussler's Mediterranean Caper, or Tom Clancy's Hunt for Red October. Yes, this book is THAT good - or better.

The action starts with a plane crash in a remote region of China near Tibet, picks up with the survivor and her rescuers being chased through a mountain by people trying to blow them up, and reaches a finale with the group battling their adversaries INSIDE St Peter's Basilica.

Along the way, we meet Jason Quinn and Curtis Johnson, our heroes and best friends who work together at ARGO - a group reminiscent of Cussler's NUMA or David Golemon's Event Group - who will be featured in at least Gilmour's next work. Johnson is the practical, friendly side kick to Quinn's friendly yet mysterious do-whatever-it-takes hero.

Gilmour is an author Jeremy Robinson has taken under his wing, and it shows. In one more blatant way, in the weapons used by the bad guys. This is not a bad thing at all, but fans of Robinson's CHESS TEAM novels (and novellas, the latest of which, CALLSIGN: DEEP BLUE, was cowritten by Gilmour) will recognize them as probably the only other novel they've ever read that feature these particular cutting edge weapons.

So yeah, absolutely go pick up this book, and while you're at it, go ahead and pick up DEEP BLUE. Based on Robinson's past work and the strength of RESURRECT, I'm confident in telling you that you won't be disappointed in either purchase.

Kane Gilmour's novel Resurrect is a fun action-packed ride from China to America to Europe and back. Jason Quinn is a unique kind of action hero, and Gilmour fleshes him out very well. I don't normally read books like this- my usuals are usually creature features, but after reading book 5 of the series Refuge he co-wrote with Jeremy Bishop (check
out the omnibus of all five of that series- very entertaining horror/sci-fi tale), I thought I would try out Resurrect. I wasn't disappointed, and I look forward to future Jason Quinn books!

Familiar with Kane Gilmour through his work with Jeremy Robinson on the excellent Chess Team series, I decided to check out his first Jason Quinn novel and I'm glad I did.
I'm not one to go into too many details in regards to plot or characters outside of saying I thought the premise behind Quinn's "mission" and the supporting cast were all well drawn out. I liked the overall plot with the main villain and his plans for the Catholic Church.
A really fun read and I eagerly await the next installment, Frozen.

This is Kane Gilmour's first full length novel and is a great start! Jason Quinn is a fun hero, who, like all action heroes, can do and survive just about anything. He has his off-sider who provides great banter, in the form of Curtis Johnson, and of course, the love interest in the form of the beautiful Eva. It's definitely a good start in this series and I look forward to seeing where it goes. Very much in the vein of Clive Cussler and Andy McDermott, this is definitely worth a read.

Fans of Cussler, Childs, DuBruhl or any of the other great thriller authors will be overly pleased with this offerring from Mr. Gilmour. There is plenty of action, well crafted characters who interact effortlessly together and a well thought out story that will not dissapoint. The hero, Jason Quinn, ranks up there with the likes of Dirk Pitt, Philip Mercer, Jack Reacher, etc. There is strong basis here for many more Jason Quinn adventures and I, for one, can't wait for more.

I truly enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the next Jason Quinn adventure. The brisk pace of the action and exciting adventure reminded me of the early, unbloated Dirk Pitt books by Clive Cussler. Like a good action/adventure story should, it keeps the reader busy thinking "Holy cow!" and turning the page.

Really enjoyed the characters in this book and looking forward to reading about them in the next book. Easy read which takes you from the snow covered mountains to Hong Kong and the Vatican in a race to stop a mad man. With this book Kane has made it to my list of must reads along with Jeremy Robinson, James Rollins, Preston & Child and Matthew Reilly.
