This is a great advanced bladesmithing book. Carter provides a good history of Japanese bladesmithing and then gets into the nitty-gritty details of how he applies these principles in his modern blacksmith shop. The volume is definitely written for the advanced metalworker and there are assumptions about the reader having more than a basic knowledge of the craft. I enjoyed Carter's narrative voice and found this to be a useful addition to the library.

Fantastic insights into the bladesmithing craft directly from a master himself. I enjoyed hearing Murray's personal story and how he wound up in the world of craftsmanship. He also does a walkthrough of his own personal shop, explaining each machine and it's intricacies. A great read for anyone interested in metalworking or bladesmithing.
