Lissa Sanderson is at an all-time low—so why does her brother's gorgeous, brooding best friend have to come back into her life now? Even worse, the teenage crush she once had on Blake Everett is back with a vengeance, despite his scandalous reputation and the fact the former navy officer would clearly prefer to be left alone.
Only, now she's a woman. And Blake's not quite so immune to her as he makes out. There's definitely something about a rebel—and Lissa's going to enjoy finding out just what that "something" might be!
I really don't get what the title's all about, it's certainly not the story... good title though, even if it doesn't fit. It's a good story, with ok characters and dialogue.
i hope this book is just the beginning of HP's starting to use real people--i.e. ex-military types--as heroes/heroines in their books. i'm getting SO tired of the titled, entitled billionaires and this hero is a breath of fresh air. i know reading these books is pure escapism, but....it's good to see some of the books going back to more real heroes, like so many were in the 70's and 80's.
A quick, easy and frivolous read. But the romance is so quick and underdeveloped it would be wrong to call it a "whirlwind romance". The characters are hard to care about as well. But, there are worse books in the world! It's a nice book to read if you've got some downtime.
This is what I needed after the "Good Oil" fiasco. Light, lovely, an easy reading I couldn't put down. I read the whole night 'till I finally got my happy ending. Seriously, if I think about it, I can start sobbing again.
This book is well written and I enjoyed it. The introvert hero, with a wounded soul but a generous and honorable character, was quite appealing to me. That effect was somehow spoiled at the end of the book with his sudden bout of extroversion.
