This bundle contains volumes 1-6 of Kubo Won't Let Me Be Insivible manga by Nene Yukimori. A social butterfly makes friends with a wallflower—whether he’s ready or not! Junta Shiraishi blends into the background so much that even his classmates fail to spot him. His goal is to make the most of his high school years, but that pesky invisibility gets in the way…until Nagisa Kubo notices him! Kubo’s playful teasing kicks Shiraishi out of his comfort zone and begins a friendship—or maybe something more? When Kubo sits next to Shiraishi in their first year of high school, Shiraishi’s nonexistent social skills get a boost. Speaking up in class is only the beginning for Shiraishi—soon Kubo forces him to be noticed at school, at the bookstore, and all around town. Shiraishi’s once-lackluster life isn’t so dull anymore!
Honestly super cute, and had above average pacing for one of these series. The invisible trope shockingly doesn’t get too old, they do not abuse it too much or make it too ridiculous. It is also shown in a bunch of different scenarios which is super interesting. Overall nothing special, but an above average slice of life romance :)
This manga was very silly and one of the slowest burns, with essentially nothing happens for the first several volumes aside from shy glances. Of course, that is basically what was advertised from this slice of life manga. There was essentially zero conflict which might be exactly what you’re looking for, or you might find it a little boring at times. This was incredibly cute and innocent, although like a lot of manga its somewhat fanservic-y at times.
The main theme of the novel is that the protagonist is so uninteresting that he literally disappears and people frequently can’t see him even if they are looking at him. This is used (and used and overused) for comedy as he seems to appear to people and surprise them. The first several volumes mostly explore this joke, with him being missed for attendance in class or group partners being unable to find him, things like that. Then there is Kubo, a girl in his class, who somehow can always find him and talks to him every day and starts to involve him in activities he normally wouldn’t be trying.
Eventually it gets deeper, there is an emotional story arc, and its overall very heartwarming. Nice little cast of characters.
Slow burn. This GoodReads entry only covers the first 6 volumes, however there are at least twice that. They don’t even start to get together until something like 130 chapters into the story, so if you want to see any relationship progression this one makes you wait a long time.
