This was a very compelling read filled with paranormal mystery and suspense between tense twists and turns.

After multiple homicides, the Villians versed the Heroes.

It will leave you confounded and contemplative about the horrendous realities that may exist without public knowledge. Faith in God is ultimately a key to survival.

There was a lot of suspense and tension in this book wish I so loved. I love a good meaty book I can chew on, and I certainly did with this one.

I can see why it won an award.

This is well worth a ONE CLICK

This story was classified as “speculative fiction”, which was a genre unfamiliar to me even after several years working in the library world. (But of course, as a proper librarian, I looked it up!)

Big Pharma, unscrupulous scientists, good vs evil, inspiration and miracles are all part of this Christian thriller. Although written for adult audience, I think it would also work as YA. The plot moved along well and there were some twists and turns. The ending was kind of abrupt with an unresolved twist. A sequel in the works? Or maybe just a reflection of reality?

Split Sense by Barbara Ellen Brink is, at the risk of sounding cliché, a real page turner. It is very well written; full of action, twists and turns, intrigue and a well thought out though complex story line. The book begins in 1995 with a frightened schizophrenic woman being chased and killed, but not before her twin babies are taken alive. Thus begins a complex web of deceit and subterfuge that centers around a pharmaceutical company that has been experimenting on pregnant women. The hope is to find a cure for mental illness, but instead, a deeper and deeper web of lies forms. The infants that are saved are separated and a company employee takes one to raise as his own son. The girl twin was presumed dead by the company, but through some undercover work of her own, the attending doctor saves the girl and places her with another family, unbeknown to anyone.

We progress through the years, visiting both twins as they grow and mature. Each one seems to have a special ‘gift’. The boy can sense other people’s feelings and even begins to read minds. The girl has an unexplainable gift for healing through music. Meanwhile, the pharmaceutical company has continued its experiments on another set of twins, with frightening results.

Zander, the twin boy, begins looking for answers, but then those who know the truth begin to die, either through freak accidents or other means. The tension just keeps building. In the end, the story comes to happy and satisfying conclusion, but not before we are left with another surprise twist right at the end. I highly recommend this book to those who love a fast paced story with lots of twists and intrigue.

This is one of the most entertaining books I've read this year. The author did an amazing job keeping the suspense and tension going. Zander and his sister are extremely likable, and despite their unusual powers, believable. A very well crafted and edited book. I'll be buying more from this author.

What a wild idea for a book. To inject serum into a pregnant women that affects the fetus' (since they are twins) to be able to take over their minds was interesting. For Zander, he had the ability to read a person's mind. Kylie had the gift of healing through music. Then the other set of twins Devlin created out of fetus', they were like robots. He would command them to do something and they would do it. Lots of people at Howard Pharmaceuticals were not on the up and up. Dr. Kapoor tried to do what was right but Devlin had him killed. It was a shock to find out that Michael - Zander's friend - was actually one of the twins Devlin controlled. When Frank died of a heart attack, Steven tried to take over the company and stop the experiment. It came to a head though and some of the people who worked for Howard Pharmaceuticals were killed. Steven keeps his son and his twin safe. The ending was wild - Marcus (who had switched medicine on his own daughter to make her depressed and out of touch with life) was Steven's son-in-law and was not happy Steven was made CEO of the company. But the last paragraph of the story leads you to believe that Marcus was also experimenting with the drug and had several children under his care to manipulate. Scary to think about if that happened in real life!!

Interesting Read

I almost quit during the first few pages because I didn’t feel like reading another book blasting the “evil” pharmaceutical industry, but as I got into it, it got pretty interesting. The storyline was quite unique and kept me going.

The only downside was several instances of incorrect word choice, as previously mentioned by another reviewer. Additional ones I noted were “towing the line” (toeing the line), “nil and void” (null and void) and “shirt-tale” (shirttail). Also, the members of the Tatum family are NOT collectively called “the Tatum’s” as they were called throughout the book!! They are “the Tatums”. There is no need for an apostrophe where there is no possessive or contraction. Little things to some people, but I find them extremely annoying and distracting. Please do some editing on this otherwise fine book.

Loved this book. I hope there will be a sequel, as I would like to know what happens to the characters in the future. I got a huge shock at the end of the book..in fact, several surprises. I am so glad that this book contained no bad language or graphic sex and was a Christain based story. I will be sure to read more of the author's books as I am hooked on her style of writing.
If you want, suspense, intrigue, and horror combined with great story telling this is one book you will not want to pass up.
I would give it 10 stars if I could.

I enjoyed this book. But I didn't love it. The story was well written with lots of different characters who each had their own story or agenda. I dont have issues with bringing faith and God into a story. I guess if you have a healer and an empath then giving God the credit is better than a madman with a cocktail of drugs. Maybe it's the Christian paranormal story that has me off about my rating.

This book was a bit unnerving to read. It deals with evil men and their attempts at mind control. It involves children and lots of deceit. Truly frightening to think that children (or any human) would be experimented on. The faith emphasis was subtle and not overpowering. I would definitely read another book by this author, even though I had to read some of this book in small doses.

A very intriguing story!lol

This was true mystery from the start and held one's interest all the way through. The characters were complicated and the storyline was filled with many twists and turns. The ending left a clue that there was a possible book to follow. This was a fascinating read and an interesting journey.

Good wins in the end

This book is full of suspense and possibilities. The characters are real and amazin I'mgly interesting. The story is plausible enough to leave you thinking, and the "god element" is countered beautifully with the God element. The ending leaves you with a "What if?" question as you ponder a future of super beings.

ended suddenly

This was a good book, but when I got to 92% read, it seem to end suddenly. Probably it’s so that a sequel can happen, but I didn’t expect it to end so quickly. It certainly wasn’t a predictable ending, so that’s good. Let’s book definitely had the gospel woven into it, and plenty of surprising twists and turns.

Suspense and Faith

This was a new genre for me. A great read that I flew through in 3 days. Barbara is a master at spinning a tale of sinister characters, evil motivations and love. Our battles are spiritual and with God all is possible.

Excellent

This book was hard to put down. Drug experimentation, lies, deception, and twins with special abilities. There were twists and turns, but the ending seemed to suggest another one to follow.

What a great read. Suspense and thrilling, I need to know more about the kids and Marcus's plans for them. Although he appears as a good person to them you just know he has something wicked planned. I loved the fact that God was praised throughout

Twice The Mystery

I enjoyed Split Sense. The plot was challenging and well written. The characters were fleshed out so the reader got a good sense of who they were. I especially liked the surprise near the end...didn't see that coming. It was Avery satisfying story.
