SpongeBob and his pals get ready to put on their dancing shoes!
In this Level 2 Ready-to-Read story, Mr. Krabs decides to drum up some more business by having a dance competition at the Krusty Krab (lots of dancing = hungry customers). Everyone is excited to put on their dancing Squidward starts to practice his modern dance routine, Larry the Lobster will cha-cha, and Sandy is all set with her Texas two-step.…But what will Patrick perform? With the help and encouragement of his best pal, SpongeBob, Patrick gets into shape—and ready to become a dancing star!
Neo took the lead with this one, which got our toes tappin’ and fingers turnin’ the pages. When Mr. Krabs realises that his long-time friend, Tom Stugeon, runs a highly successful dance competition on television, he pictures the money that can be made at the Krusty Krab. Posters go up and people begin plotting their victory dances. While he is interested in participating, Patrick is unsure if he has what it takes. Thankfully, SpongeBob is there to help whip him into shape. On the night on the competition, everyone brings their A game, including Patrick, who seeks to woo the judges. It’s anyone’s competition to win, with grit and determination. Neo did fairly well with this piece, tackling the words and concepts with ease. He seems to enjoy watching SpongeBob, so this read what somewhat easier for him! The pictures are well done, likely pulled from the show, and the writing is geared for the early reader. A decent book all around!
I am very surprised I gave this three stars as I am not even the slightest fan of SpongeBob. However, I did like the very basic aspect of this story that instead of seeking to win the dance competition for himself, SpongeBob chose to help his friend Patrick achieve his dream of being a dancing star.
