Going to sporting events in the Detective Conan universe is dangerous.

In this book, after a thoroughly absurd deduction competition that shows just how much Heiji doesn’t deserve Kazuha, the five of them -- Heiji and Kazuha, Conan and Ran, and Mouri -- join one of Heiji’s dad’s coworkers and friends at a baseball game. But as they’re watching the game, a cell phone gets dropped at their feet – a phone with a puzzle to solve. It’s the first of three, and if they can solve all three, they can stop a man from killing himself and taking the whole stadium with him.

If you followed the series, you might remember this isn’t the first time people have been threatened at a game. But then, by this point, you may find the details of every case seem a little familiar. There’s only so many ways and places to kill people and only so many uses for fishing line.

This is an incomplete story, finishing in the next volume, and usually I would choose that deduction contest as a favorite book for this volume, but unfortunately, that case is one of those that shares a certain necessary feature – it’s a mystery that someone like me, born and raised in the USA, just doesn’t understand enough culturally to even hazard a guess. Part of the fun to me is picking out the clues and trying to puzzle out the solution, even if I can’t actually put it all together correctly. But in cases like this (here you specifically need to know what characters might be on the opposite sides of children’s spelling blocks based on the faces you can see in a photograph) there’s just no way, which takes a little something away from the experience.

Still, good, fun volume.

This volume of Case Closed had a different flavor to it....well at least the way I read it. With the second story being about Detective Richard Moore teams up with Detective Conan to figure out a blackmail that seems to have gone wrong...the story felt different. I cannot even explain why, but I found it the type of story which makes a great movie. I also love the name of the restaurant "Columbo" an obvious nod to the hit crime drama TV show here in America from 1971 to 1978. The first story is the cliff-hanger from the previous book, but to be honest it felt very forgettable and it barely even registers as I sit to write this after reading, which isn't something you want a reader to feel shortly afterwards. The third story is the reason for the baseball cover and it....the next case is a deduction contest suggested by Detective Moore! This story directly connects to the next story which truly is at Koshein Stadium! There was a similar case awhile back, but you have to forgive any writer or artist...as we are in the 43rd volume of a series! This story is not concluded in this volume...so stay tuned for volume 44!

KAZUHA AND HEIJI ARE CUUUUUTE!!

1. So Hibara rejected the protection program, settling down with the Conan and children!

2. Omg why isn’t Sato and Takagi are like together???

3. Then we see a case from Mouri POV and he is a bit suspicious of Conan

4. The case of the Toy Company is like amazing cuz Heiji and Kazuha are there omg when he saw Kazuha tear up omg this panel is my fav! I want more moments between them❤️😭

5. And when Ran asked for Conan’s help and he blushed omg I died ❤️😂😭✨

6. The next case is the baseball match which is quite refreshing seeing Heiji and Conan team up again! 👌😎

All in all this volume is amazing! Onto the next one!

Conan and the junior detective league catch the movie killer and solve the murder. Conan and Mouri solve a mystery of a lost cell phone found in a diner when the unknown owner is killed in a traffic accident. Hattori and Kazuha invite Conan, Ran and Mouri to Osaka, but they disagree on where to take them - they settle the choice as a contest between the group divided in 2 groups to see who can solve a murder first. Next, the group are watching a baseball game when a man contacts Hattori, Conan and a detective who has joined them and challenges them to find him before the game is done... or he'll detonate a bomb!

Quelle lenteur.

The face-off between Kazuha and Heiji was easily the most exciting part! But although it was adorable for Heiji to try and help Kazuha, he was quite stupid when he did reveal the murderer and the technique... and then realizing the implications and repenting.

Aoyama Gosho; DETECTIVE CONAN [Meitantei Conan #43]

e/read online; genre: { manga, mystery, shounen }; shelves: |comics, GN, manga, manhua, manhwa|

General Synopsis:
As mentioned above, I am going to write a proper review for this soon, but I have a few books ahead of this one in the queue, so I cannot stop reading DC NOW! That's sacrilege. I have decided to read all the chapters available up to now (we are almost to 1000!) As you can see, I am totally fangirling over here and I don't care, because this is one of my favorite manga series, ever! But all of this aside, there are a few things I wanted to list so I don't need to go back and look everything up when I do finally sit down and write my fangirl review. ✌🏻

V.43, includes Files 436 - 446

DO NOT click on the spoiler link if you don't want to read all the cases in this volume, because it will ruin it for you. On the other hand, if you're a fan like me or are looking for a certain case (and please note, these are how I have set the cases), etc. click away, that's why it's there.

Another spoiler link, so don't click if you don't want to ruin this manga. I am going to include the characters introduced or as the series continues are in this volume. Personally, I think us DC fans love certain characters more than other (yes, Heiji, I mean you!), so sometimes when we are re-reading this series (like all the time!) you might wish to start at a specific case or start when a certain character is involved.

Characters in this volume:

Personal Opinion:
#1, I never call this CASE CLOSED. If you do, you're not a true fan of this series, so don't even bother reading my review or my personal opinions. I'm sorry if I offend you, but you offended me first by telling me you want to read CASE CLOSED or you just love Jimmy.

#2, as you can tell by #1, I read this online. I would never waste my money buying a manga series in english that cannot get the name correct and mess up the main characters to make it appear more "ENGLISH." I am so happy I don't run a blog and this isn't a review on Sailor Moon, #1, because I have a huge soap box tirade against DiC. I also don't think there is anything against reading something online. Comics, which is what manga are, are meant to be read and shared and sometimes paying over $10 is too much in my opinion. Plus, I read the newest chapters as soon as they are released from Japan, because I would never miss a release of DC. So this is my personal shout out to you translators from me, Thank You!

Another fantastic volume in which Ai makes an important decision. We learn more about Jodie. Jeiji and Kazua face each other in a deduction contest. The maid from the Poirot café makes an appearance. I also found an Easter egg of Versailles no bara, better known in Italy as Lady Oscar. The last two chapters have an extremely high thrilling.

~ Kogoro dijemput Megure menyelesaikan kes bunuh bos syarikat permainan.

THE PHANTOM KILLER’S MARK: A RACE AGAINST TIME
On a rainy evening, Ayumi unknowingly collides with a fleeing phantom killer, causing him to drop his bloody knife. Though his face remains hidden beneath a hat and hood, Ayumi catches a crucial clue—a mysterious mark resembling the number 5 on her hand. With the help of Detective Sato, Conan and the Detective Boys trace the mark back to a car brand, narrowing the suspect pool to three individuals. Can they unmask the elusive slasher before he strikes again?

SECRETS IN A FORGOTTEN CELL PHONE
What starts as a simple request to return a lost phone quickly turns into a chilling mystery. Azusa asks Kogoro and Conan for help in finding the owner, only for them to discover from Yumi that the man had died in a car accident days prior. As they investigate further, Conan deciphers a shocking truth—the phone does not contain ordinary contacts but instead holds highly confidential and scandalous information. Could this be the key to a larger conspiracy?

A DETECTIVE SHOWDOWN: HEIJI VS. KAZUHA
A casual outing turns into an unexpected competition when Heiji and Kazuha visit Conan in Tokyo. While Heiji wishes to attend a baseball game, Kazuha prefers a Takarazuka theater show, leading Mouri to suggest a detective contest to settle the matter. With Heiji and Conan on one side and Kazuha backed by Mouri and Ran, the teams set out to solve Mouri’s latest case. Will this friendly rivalry bring new insights—or unexpected tensions?

It got better once I got to File Six.

Files 1 -2 were a wrap up of The Slasher Case and Anita's decision to leave or stay in Volume 42. I'm glad that Anita decided to stay. She's such a interesting character and I can't wait to see more of her relationships with Amy and Jimmy.

Files 3 - 5 were boring in my opinion. I love Richard and Jimmy's relationship, but this mystery seemed to drag and I didn't feel a sense of urgency in trying to solve it.

File 6 is where the volume started to get interesting. Harley is one of my favorite characters so I'm always excited when the summary for the volume mentions his name. His attempt to throw the case for Kazuha was adorable and I always love seeing his friendship with Jimmy. They make a great duo whether they're solving cases or being the comic relief.

And finally we get to Files 10 - 11. My favorite mysteries are the ones where the stakes are HUGE and this one definitely has huge stakes. The cliffhanger was amazing and I can't to pick up Volume 44 in October!

Also really this volume! Some of the mysteries are either obvious or less than engaging--the slasher hunt; the toy maker death--but the Koshien bombing story that the volume cliffhangers on looks really promising.

The famous shounen detective manga.

For the first 25 or so volumes, MEITANTEI CONAN were ok
but later on this series appeal less and less to me.
