♡ one of my goals for 2026 is to read more indie books, so my first read of the year is from my friend and author @louisedavisbooks

🪦 𝗵𝗮𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝘆𝗼𝘂 is a debut YA romantic mystery. although I don’t read a lot of YA, I devoured it in a single day.

we have the classic tongue-tied boy crazy characters, juggling high school and scaring themselves silly at ghost tours.

a bit reminiscent of sweet valley high meets nancy drew. although I found the plot/villain obvious, the way it ended still took me by surprise.

def check out the completed trilogy if you’re looking for a new indie author.

What a gripping story!

This YA novel weaves in romance, mystery, suspense, and supernatural elements in such a unique way.

Steve and Genevieve were both so loveable. I especially enjoyed Steve's relationship with his grandma and seeing him try so hard to change for the better. My heart broke as he went through struggles and I was rooting for them to work it out!

The author used a lot of interesting suspense elements, such as when the readers sometimes knew more than the characters did, which really raised the tension.

All of the characters were so genuinely good, wanting to protect their families and each other. The final climax was so good!!

Well done to the author- I'm excited to read her other books. Thank you for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I loved this book! It sucks you in at the very beginning and you can’t wait to see what happens next! Loved the characters, story, and plot twists! I also loved that this was a book that my daughter and I could read together, she also loved it and was begging to read more! I also loved the little bits of history that the author put in about South Carolina, I now want to go there to see everything she described! I can’t wait for book 2!

A gripping tale of love and loss as Genevieve and Steve navigate the hurdles of young love with unexpected twists and turns from outside forces.  Louise Davis does a wonderful job of world building and character development as she brings you into her character's lives.  A page turner that will have you staying up too late because you will not want to wait one more minute to find out what happens!

This is an amazing YA novel that genre bends a romantic storyline into a family mystery/thriller drama! The moment I started reading, I knew that Louise’s writing style was right up my alley.

I loved how our teenage characters felt wholly authentic to their age and the type of thought processes we experience during that time in life. They were immature in the way they made sense for them to be, and I appreciated the realistic and relatable nature of their arcs.

The romantic in me was obsessed with Steve and Genevieve’s connection, and I loved how they both knew they found something special and wanted to stay devoted to that!

The mystery aspect of things was such a wild ride! I was curious how things were all going to unfold, and I was not disappointed. When you reach the halfway point of the book, the pacing is fast and unrelenting with action. My heart ached for these characters and everything they were put through, and I wanted to jump into the book and hug each of them.

Steve and Genevieve both had great background stories that were well fleshed out, and I was so relieved they had each other to rely on, along with Genevieve’s sisters. I loved that we had gotten a reasonable level of closure while also planting seeds of curiosity for book 2 which I cannot WAIT to pick up and read!!! I’m truly so excited to start it.

I especially loved the final chapter and epilogue when it came to both offering closure and garnering interest to continue.

Louise is amazing, and I cannot wait to see where she brings this series next.

Haunted by you is book one in a series, with book two releasing 10/8! This is a YA thriller told from dual perspectives, and it had me hooked in really fast. The beginning of the book spends some time really developing the characters, their relationships, and setting the scene for the mayhem that eventually ensues. So if you’re feeling like it’s slow at first, enjoy that calm before the storm! I personally loved the beginning and feel the author did a really nice job of keeping the reader engaged and wanting more, because I know I personally NEEDED to know what was going to happen!

Once you hit the halfway mark… buckle up. I don’t even know what to say other than that. Things get extra suspenseful, dark, and intense. Check trigger warnings as there is a substantial amount of familial loss in this novel. I do feel like the second half of the book required a fair amount of suspension of disbelief, but that’s the nature of the thriller genre.

Another thing of note, I really enjoyed how the author portrayed the teenagers. So often in YA books teenage characters read as unrealistically mature and adult-like in their behaviors, and this book did not do that. The characters are immature, but they are kids! They are supposed to be! And damn do these kids go through it. I loved seeing them lean on each other.

This book wraps up with a sense of closure while also having me immediately wanting to hop over to book two…

This was such a good book! With a great plot however, she has middle school grammar. And she took way too long to get to the point. And when she got to the point she didn’t stay on the point long enough for one to understand what she was even talking about.

Overall, I believe this was an amazing book. It took you on an emotional rollercoaster ride. And at the end I began crying (for reasons I won’t spoil) but just her descriptions of the way she felt. It was absolutely heartbreaking.

I would encourage everyone to read this(thank you Mrs krocker for recommending this )

I loved Louise Davis's children's books, so when I found out she had a YA book out, I just had to read it. I loved so much about this book. The detail and storyline were both excellent. I felt myself in the gardens and wanted to go on the Ghost tours myself. I was surprised at the end. Steve and Genevie experience so much together.
"Just take one day at a time, Genevive, and if one day feels like too much, just take one hour at a time. If one hour feels like too much, just take it one minute at a time. I'll be there for every second of it."-Steve.
I was already in tears, but when Steve spoke to Genevieve like this, my heart broke even more.
I really hope there is a book two coming out. I am dying to know what is next for this family and Steve.
There is so much I want to say, but I also don't want to put out any spoilers. You will have to find out for yourself which ghosts are really dead and which are not.

Haunted by You is a YA nove with a mix of suspense, romance, and mystery that is hard to put down. This book tells the story from the perspectives of the two main characters, Genevieve and Steve. Louise Davis has a way of helping you feel all the emotions that they go through in this book, from the nervousness and excitement that come with a new relationship to the happiness, frustration, fear, helplessness, and anguish that they experience throughout the story. I love the way that Haunted by You uses the theme of being haunted in different ways—being haunted by ghosts and haunted by your past. Unfortunately, some mistakes have bigger and more long lasting consequences than we can imagine. I found myself wishing there was another book to read and wanting to know more about the other characters.

Haunted by You captivated my attention within the first few pages and soon had me feeling like I couldn't put it down. As the plot grew and became intertwined, so did my interest! I loved learning about the history of South Carolina and the adventures that unfolded. I vividly imagined the characters as the story played out like a movie reel in my mind. I was on the edge of my seat, enthralled by the thrill and suspense Louise so grippingly portrayed in this adventurous novel! I was laughing, crying and even feared for the outcome of the family and friends in this book I had grown to love. It even had just the right touch of romance to balance it all out. I would definitely recommend this book and will be sharing it with all my friends and family!

Not all ghosts are dead...

What a journey! I don't really read very many teen romance novels, but I'm glad I made the exception with this one (if you add in suspense, that usually helps).

This is the debut novel of Louise Davis, and now I'm excited to see what else she comes up with. I love discovering new authors!

Genevieve and Steve meet on a tour of a haunted building, and it's actually fun to watch their romance bloom. But things get complicated when Genevieve finds out her family has a dark secret--and that a stranger is blackmailing them for it. In order to help her family, Genevieve must delve deeper into forgotten pasts, and she's only hoping that Steve will join her on that quest.

This is an exciting read with fun characters, and all the twists and turns to keep you guessing.

I really enjoyed this YA romantic suspense novel set in South Carolina. The imagery was really vivid and having been to Moncks Corner myself, it was really fun to go back and visit again through the book. The plot thickens as you find out bits and pieces about why someone is threatening Genevieve’s family and what secrets haunt her father’s past, and you’d never predict what happens in the end! This was a perfect suspenseful read for the season with a cute romance and some interesting ghost stories, but it's not so creepy that you’ll be scared to go to sleep. I definitely recommend it for both teens and adults! Louise Davis is currently working on the second book as well, and I can’t wait to see where the characters go from here.

This book was a nice, easy read with a fun and interesting plot. The climax built gradually throughout the book which kept my attention and made me eager to find out what was going to happen next! The character development was great, I cared about the characters and I was invested in their lives, especially Genevieve. In other words, I binged read this book in over just a few days because I couldn't wait to see how things were going to turn out for them in the end! “Haunted by You” was such a gripping read! I felt like I was meeting the characters in person and living through their experiences because of the beautiful and descriptive way Louise Davis writes. I was also excited to learn that the ghost tours and the majority of the locations in the book were, in fact, real! I will definitely be booking a trip to South Carolina in the future to experience the ghost tours myself. Thank you for writing a book that sucked me in, kept me guessing, and had just the right amount of romance!

YA. Romantic Suspense.
Fast paced once its up and going.
Decent characters.
Lots of things happening. Characters are forced into growth.
My favorite thing about this one is def the setting. As an SC native, many of the locales mentioned in this story are near and dear to me. Author does a good job at capturing the beauty and allure of the Chas area.

Haunted by You by Louise Davis was a really great surprise. It wasn’t at all what I expected but I ended up loving it! It is a YA dual perspective novel that takes us on an emotional ride with Genevieve and Steve. I loved the budding romance between the two of them and how much they grew in-spite of all family drama that played out around them.

I loved all the side characters and how the author let us get to know them as well as the two MC’s. There is heartbreak and death of family members so if this is a trigger, be prepared.

It did start a bit slow in my opinion, and I couldn’t figure out where the author was taking us, but then at about a third into the book, I became invested in the characters and their family drama and heartbreak. I did keep expecting supernatural elements, and there were a couple as the MMC leads ghost tours in Charleston, which I loved! She made the city of Charleston come alive! I need to go and check it out now!

The climax and conclusion were satisfying and it made me immediately want to know more about what happens next! So I will be starting My Haunted Vow very soon!

When I saw the title of this, I thought maybe it would have ghosts in it and scare the crap outta me lol which I don't like anything that's scary!
So I was a little nervous, lol.
Still, I picked this one up because the author Louise is so amazing and a genuine supportive person on socials!

I read the blurb and thought this book sounded really interesting.
However, what I thought and what happened were two completely different things.

This book made me laugh, roll my eyes, suck my teeth with annoyance, shake my head, and CRY🥺

I loved 😍
▪︎The corny dad jokes!! I LOVED every bad joke
▪︎Steve is dreamy, supportive, and strong - been through so much.
▪︎I didn't like Mark
▪︎Genevieve LOVED her, and she reminded me of myself so much when I was a teen♥️
▪︎Livi, is that bestie we love to hate to love to have
(it makes sense) I did roll my eyes at her a FEW times !
▪︎Dual Pov(first person)

Overall, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!
I had no idea I would enjoy this beautiful piece of literary art the way I did WOW! I look forward to book two!!!

Here I was enjoying this slow paced easy read and BAM, the last half of the book I could not put down until I finished it!! What a whirlwind! Louise did a great job of laying the ground work for the reader. In the back of my mind I knew where we were headed but you are instantly attached to the characters and in denial! And then you forget ... I love it when that happens. It had me smiling and swooning and crying.

This book is about a teenage girl falling in love for the first time while uncovering a deep dark family secret and attending high school and all the drama that brings. It has a dual POV which adds more depth to the story. Had good forshadowing with plot twists to keep you going. Everything you need in a romance mystery novel.

Plot: 5 stars
Character Development: 5 stars
Romance: 5 stars!!

What if someone you love and are close to is hiding a life altering secret? Would it change your view of them?

Haunted by You is a romantic suspense. It was such a fun book to read! The suspense kept me from putting the book down and I couldn't wait to talk to others who had read it! It's a clean, quick read (if you're anything like me and NEED to know how it ends 😉). It'll keep you guessing! I enjoyed that the romance, while being a major part of the story, was cute and not too cheesy.

I would recommend this book to any youth or adults who likes a little suspense and mystery in their life. Read it and let me know what you think! :)

I haven’t been much of a reader for the past 10 years but I couldn’t put Haunted By You down! The way Louise Davis writes is so easy to read and she does an amazing job describing each scene so you feel like you’re actually there. I fell in love with all of the characters but Genevieve is definitely a favorite. The twists and turns in the book kept me engaged and I wish someone would have recorded my facial expressions at the jaw dropping moments. There’s enough of an opening at the end that I’m hoping there will be a Sequel!

I really enjoyed this story. At first I was getting irritated by the characters and how impulsive they were but then I remembered they were 17 and 18 years old and it seemed much more realistic. I was hooked on the mystery around Genevive's family and more specifically her dad. I was suspicious of every character who was introduced after the story with Genevieve's dad was brought up. I was obsessed with how this was going to end. I picked this book up at every opportunity. I had an idea of how the ending was going to go but I was shocked!

The characters spring to life and grow as they continually face life and the challenges it brings. Romance blossoms and ties are tested as the plot thickens and sucks you in. EVERY page leaves you wanting more. It’s a great read for all ages!

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a quick, fun, exciting read, with a bit of a mystery. I loved the location. The book is set in Charleston, a city I love, and it made me want to go back and go on the ghost tours! (I looked them up, they are real!) I loved how the book took a popular Charleston ghost story and used it as the foundation for a modern-day young adult romance.

This book is well written. The title alludes to mystery and intrigue, and it doesn't disappoint. It is a fast read and towards the end, you can't put it down, as you want to know what will happen. It has a very interesting and non-predicable climax. Louse Davis is a wordsmith and delivers her story very well. I highly recommend it.
