Nikki Johnson was the perfect wife to millionaire real estate tycoon Duncan Johnson until discovering his mistress and love child. Stressed out by her husband’s infidelity, her teenage son’s carelessness, and her son’s pregnant girlfriend moving in, Nikki has had enough. When Duncan cannot get in touch with his upset wife, he uncovers evidence that makes him suspicious of a secret affair going on between Nikki and her ex-husband, Chance Brown, and wonders if she is the culprit behind a death threat he receives.
Chance, a successful attorney, is just as skeptical when his once spiteful ex-wife comes back into the picture, remarried, claiming to still be in love with him. During a private getaway to Las Vegas, Nikki’s bitter side re-emerges as they reminisce on their past relationship, how he has neglected their son since the divorce, and why he cheated on her with a close family friend. His suspicions are confirmed when Nikki lures him into a death trap, but why?
With a dangerous love triangle and a mother out for revenge, Darling Nikki is a cunningly crafted thriller sure to keep readers guessing until the very end.

Darling Nikki was an interesting and fast read. I finished it within a few hours which is rare for me these days. The story was well written and the ending was a good one. The chain of events towards the end was crazy and I had to keep reading to see what happened next! Rayshad was bogus for not revealing the real truth and his character irritated me somewhat. He seemed sneaky and sheisty right from the start. This book is a definite page turner and you will not be disappointed. I received this book from the publisher, Strebor Books, to read and review. It did not influence my opinion in any way.
Nikki Johnson is on the run. Never would she have thought that the beautiful life she once had would be a distant memory. Nikki was married to a millionaire and had a handsome son from a previous marriage. She is beautiful and has what most women only dream about. Things aren't quite what they seem. Although Nikki's husband knows he has won the heart of his wife, he's not so sure that she is being faithful to him once she finds out a secret that he's been keeping. He suspects she is cheating on him with her ex-husband. Nikki's ex-husband, Chance, although flattered, is not sure how to take the advances of his ex-wife. Nikki's son, Rayshad has a little bundle of joy on the way and like everyone else, has secrets of his own. Nikki's mom also reappears after doing some time in a correctional facility. What happens when worlds on a collision course for disaster crash together? Who walks away unscathed? The reader will enjoy the quick pace of the story. There are unexpected twists in the story and the author has made sure that the storyline is smooth and easy to follow. The only reason I gave a 4 instead of a 5 is because I felt that some loose ends could have been tied up a little differently.
This book was off the chain. It had so many twist & turns it kept your attention. I was so engrossed with the drama this book had I finished it within 3hrs. If you are looking for a page turner with nonstop drama this is he one. Shout out to my Jaw Jackin book buddies who insisted I read this book. Looking forward to reading books by this author in the future.
One of those books that's garbage, but just has a lot of twists and turns. And the twists and turns started at the end of the book. So the whole book is just a slow boring read. Even though the book was small, it took me forever to finish. Hated it!!!
This book was so good, full of drama and what a twist at the end..I would definitely recommend this book for the twist and turns and the ending was crazy
This book was wonderful!! It was full of twists, turns, and drama. The book was well written and it kept me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what was going to happen next.
The ex-wife of a successful attorney, wife of a real estate tycoon and mother of a teenage son, Nikki Johnson has her hands full with life. Just when she doesn't think she can juggle anything else, life has a way of throwing more things at her. Can Nikki meet the new challenges?
"Darling Nikki" got me from page one. E.V. Adams skillfully pulled readers into her imagination and Nikki's world. You couldn't help turning the pages to see what would happen next and how things would eventually play out. Entertaining and with a brisk pace, I really enjoyed "Darling Nikki" up to a certain point. As the book neared its end, the story seemed to have gotten away from the author. The care and detail given to the first part of the book was no longer there. The conclusion seemed somewhat rushed and less thought out. I got where the author was going, but I would have preferred a better execution with the same care and detail for the concluding chapters, resulting in a smoother read. It's that feeling that I got toward the end of the book that brought down my overall feel for the entire book.
Also, I'm not sure what was going on with the title. I expected a little more on the Prince tip or that Nikki would be like the Nikki described in the song and I didn't get that from this book.
All in all, "Darling Nikki" is a pretty good read. I just didn't care for the ending, not the choice of an ending but the execution of the ending. I look forward to Adams' next release.
***Side note*** The synopsis gave away WAY too much information. I learned from previous experience with Strebor not to read the synopsis before starting this book. And I'm glad that I didn't until I completed the novel. Note to Strebor: A synopsis should pique one's interest so they'll want to read the book, not tell the whole story. There's no need to read a book if you already know who shot John.
Nikki Johnson is a very beautiful but conniving female that does whatever she can to maintain a normal life. She had a troubled childhood, which she vowed to herself she would never look back on. After being raised in the hood most of her life, she now resides in the prominent suburbs of Los Angeles living the good life. As the skeletons fall from the closet, it becomes more of a burden than Nikki can handle. She decides to take matters in her own hands. Will Nikki’s decisions be the right decisions?
“Darling Nikki” by E.V. Adams is both mysterious and fascinating. I like the details given on the character Nikki to inform the reader of her past to clearly understand her future. I did not quite understand the ending as I had to re-read the last chapter a few times to understand. Overall, this novel is very exciting and is definitely a page-turner. I will be looking for more novels by E.V. Adams in the future.
Darling Nikki, was a good book. The twist and turns in this book kept me wanting to read more.I was a little lost at first with E.V. switching back and forth from the present to the past but once I got into her flow, I was ok. I loved the end of the book, how she threw in that twist but I didn't like what happened to Nikki. If you get a chance read this book, you will not be disappointed.
Wow this story goes to show you will never know about no ones life until you have took a walk in their shoes. This was a great story. The twist and turn in this book will have you craving for more until you have finish the book. The drama is better then a soap opera on tv.Once you get a dose of this book there is know stopping.Great job on this read I cant wait to read more
I mistakenly came across this book and saw that it had good reviews. The timeline was all over the place and was confusing me but the story was so intense that I just kept reading. It did not go the way I planned for it to go but was a good read.
I really liked all the twists and turns in this book it kept me wanting to turn the page. The only thing about this book that i didnt like was the end because i am still confused about what actually happened.
I finished this book pretty quickly. I couldn't wait to see what happened next. I definitely want to read more books by this author and recommend this book. This was an arc copy
