This was really cute. It doesn't completely explore what it means to have a crush, but it does explore what it feels like to possibly have a secret admirer. I thought it was done with such care with the target age audience in mind.

A little disappointed with this book in the series. It left a cliff hanger that doesn’t seem to get answered even in the next book.

I was a little concerned with the story of a “witch” for a younger reader (age 5), but my daughter seems to love the series.

It’s a series about friendship and not judging a book by its cover as well as how to overcome uncomfortableness.

Hoping the rest of the series gives more and keeps my little reader interested.

I think that Wanda Coven is teaching us something important in getting to know someone before you judge them and decide if you like them or not. Melanie's best friend, Stanley, becomes Heidi's science partner. Heidi isn't happy about that because she thinks he would be mean like Melanie. After she gets to know him a little more, she realizes that Stanley isn't all that bad. I wonder if Stanley was her secret admirer. I think he was because her secret admirer gave her grape lollipops and he was the only person besides Henry who knew that she liked grape lollipops.

Heidi has all kinds of complicated things to deal with in this book. First she's paired with Stanley for a project. Second, she has a secret admirer. Heidi, is of course Heidi which means she tries to use magic to resolve her problems. What I love is that magic rarely makes anything easier. If anything, everything is more complicated than ever.

Fun story. I like how things are not spelled out clearly at the end. When the reader can figure it out for themselves, they feel so very clever. I know I did. :D

I think this book is about that you don't have to find out who your secret admirer is.
I think that because she was so sad when she spilled the ingredients for the spell, but she was happy then ever that she won the science fair that she forgot about the spell.

Wanda Coven is a unique author. She really pushes her imagination. In the book The secret admirer she includes Stanley Stonewreker as one of the main characters. Heidi has never known that Stanley would be her SECRET ADMIRER

My daughter loved this book! She couldn't put it down and finished it quickly. I thought it was a pretty cute book about friendship, but I personally wish Heidi would have known the truth by the end of the book.

I don't think this cover actually matches the book 📚. I didn't really like the book because it didn't really make so much sense

Again showing a surprising sophistication for such a simple series (alliteration!), the book doesn't spell out who the Secret Admirer is. This makes for great discussion! Also, we got a peek into a more complex social situation- the mean girl's sidekick isn't actually very mean himself. I have yet to find a book at this age level or below that touches on the topic of "guilt by association", so it was nice to be able to talk about here.

" I knew it! I knew it! I knew that Stanley was the one and if you don't know what I am talking about I will tell you.
Oops, this is a spoiler. He was the secret admirer. Thank you Wanda Coven for writing these books and another big thank you Priscilla Burris for illustrating these great books.

The author does not reveal who Heidi's secret admirer is. I guess I will just have to keep reading the series to find out, even though I have some ideas on who it could be.
