If the crown fits, she will wear it. Georgina never wanted to be a princess. Now she's free to chart her own course and love the woman who holds her heart. But Redmere's pull is strong, and the world has turned its back on the people's suffering. Yet while George is ready to storm the castle, Lou won't risk everything on a doomed revolution. She'd rather search for the true heir of Redmere, a lost princess who hasn't been seen in years. If only she can convince George to be patient a little longer. The winds of change are coming, and friends and family are calling for help. To save Redmere and themselves, George and Lou must sail a united path together, or else the seas of fate will part them forever.
This was such an amazing end to a spectacular trilogy! Alli Temple really brings it all - adventure, romance, danger, espionage, politics….the series is a wild ride and Unleashed really brings it home strong.
My favorite part: the dual POV. From Uncharted being strictly George’s POV, to Unbroken being Lou’s, having Unleashed be shared was all I ever wanted. We get to see not only their individual character growth (which was INCREDIBLY significant), but also their growth as a pair. A lot happens to these badass women over 3 books and Alli Temple does an amazing job of peppering in backstory and giving us consistent character development that felt appropriate to the circumstances - no sudden changes in character or regressions once a lesson was learned. Their final forms were earned and perfect.
I also really enjoyed getting to see them on land AND back in Redmere - both drastically different settings from books 1 and 2. This ties into my notes about character development, but it also showcases parts of their personalities we hadn’t seen yet and really explored a very different kind of tyranny than those they destroyed previously. While Prince Beverly and The Brokers ruled by wealth, power, and fear, Duke Aubrey ruled by manipulation - it was a super cool dynamic and villain to explore and see how our BAFMCs reacted.
And the epilogue…..no spoilers but probably my favorite part of the series.
Overall, this was the perfect ending to a series I already adored. I highly recommend this to pretty much all (adult) readers, check it out!
Georgina (George) continues to deny her birthright as a princess. Instead of taking Redmere's throne from the evil Duke that controls the country, she tries to gain aid from foreign Courts while Lou and her crew track down a lost princess that could rule Redmere in her place. Lou endeavours to prove to George that she is the rightful Queen and that her grace and determined grit makes George the perfect person to save Redmere from the Duke's clutches. They don't see eye to eye on this matter which leads to tensions rising between them.
Lou agrees to go on one last mission to locate the lost princess to appease George but after she sets sail, George's friend Rosie's sister shows up starved and dying. She tells of the horrific conditions in Redmere and that the rest of Rosie's family are missing. The two friends along with Rosie's lover journey to Redmere but once there, get caught up trying to dismantle the Duke's despicable trading agreement. When Lou and George are reunited and the truth about the Duke's horrific plans is known, George wants to storm the castle to kill the Duke but Lou must offer alternative plans to revolution and certain death.
Can the two reconcile their different views of the future and methods of attack long enough to see that they are stronger together when battling their enemies or will they end up paying for their strong-willed personalities with their lives?
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I loved the previous books in this trilogy and the finale did not disappoint. It was full of witty banter, swashbuckling adventure and angst-filled moments while providing a compellingly entertaining plot with fascinating and thoroughly engaging characters. Lou and George experience their toughest relationship moments in this book as the stakes for their survival and securing the future for Redmere grow but it’s the combination of heartfelt dialogue and incredible action that truly allows their story to come to life. I didn't want this series to end, but it certainly concluded on a high note and I would highly recommend it to everyone.
I really enjoyed this series. I have from book 1, Uncharted, when George and Lou were first reacquainted and had to find their way back to each other after years of living very different lives. In Unbroken, the second book, we got to see them work together towards a better world, and this final instalment, Unleashed, is the continuation of this and the book that marks George’s growth, from a tentative rebel to a very plausible potential queen. I loved seeing her live up to Lou’s hopes. Character growth is one of my favourite things and Alli Temple gives us plenty.
In this last book of the trilogy, the characters get the closure they – and we – needed. As in the previous books, there’s a lot of action, suspense, and twists, with new secondary characters, both good and villains. Rosie, Ender, Maro are still around and great as ever, if a little more in the background.
Although I againfelt she overdid the drama a bit here and there (which added to the mood, so maybe it wasn’t such a bad thing), Emily Woo Zeller’s narration is on point, with perfect pacing and distinctive voices.
Uncharted was told from George’s point of view, Unbroken from Lou’s. Unleashed (the titles are perfect, by the way) is told from both and it makes complete sense. None of these books are standalones and if you haven’t yet, you should start from the beginning.
I received a copy of this audiobook from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

sorry the first thing i have to address is the thing i’ve been thinking every time i’ve seen this cover over the past couple of months is that i keep thinking it’s reese witherspoon on the front and i know it isn’t but every time i see it my brain goes “reese witherspoon!”
anyway my actual review:
i think i’ve rated every book in this series 3.5/5, which, wow consistency!, but also you’d kind of expect some sort of fluctuation at some point. this one was a tough one for me because i was really close to giving it 4 stars but once i reached chapter 16 (i think) the pacing was so slow that i was really struggling to get through the chapters.
lou and george were much of the same really but there was great promise in the new character introduced in this book, nel. sadly, for me, she wasn’t capitalised on and there was a lot to be desired surrounding her characterisation and backstory.
all in all these books are an easy read if you’re looking for some sapphic pirate shenanigans but if you’re looking for anything which has a bit more grit and sustenance this trilogy is probably not for you as after the first book things sort of mellow out.
If you're looking for a series to binge on your vacation, may I humbly recommend The Pirate and Her Princess trilogy from Alli Temple. I heard it described as The Princess Bride, but lesbian, but it's more than that...
Combining a little bit of The Handmaid's Tale, some Pirates of the Caribbean and reuniting childhood sweethearts who were torn from each other at a very young age, The Pirate and Her Princess trilogy is an epic tale set in it's own world of intrigue, deception and greed, in the best possible way.
George and Lou are both destined to be a light and a saving grace for the people who cross their paths, but in such different ways and with different backgrounds... they have to overcome their own histories to create their HEA and save the world... at least their corner of Redmere....
Sometimes fun, often emotional, definitely dangerous, I tore through the series and devoured every word. This series definitely needs to be read in order and now that it's complete, allowed me to sink deep into the depths of the seas and fall in love with the The Pirate and Her Princess!
I am beyond ecstatic with the adventures that we sailed away on with George and Lou! Female pirates, lethal first mates, danger, political intrigue, and unshakable love, this trilogy has it all. I really liked the full circle we experienced. We started in Redmere with George’s desire to be free and ended in Redmere with George’s desire to… You’ll need to read to find out and I promise it’s worth it, and not only because the ever fantastic Lou is always at our intrepid George’s side.
“We were the same in the end. Two sides of a coin. I wouldn’t give her up any more than she would me. The only way forward was together, just as it always had been.”
I adore these women and the way they never yield from their values. Even more, I adore how devoted they are to one another. Lou and George exceeded everything I wanted from a historical pirate fantasy and have made all my dreams come true.
great trilogy-although I liked the first book the best
This is a great trilogy, but the first book was the best in the series. I love cinder - she is inspiring powerful character - George is good too, but a bit naive
Book 3 took me a long time to get into and the ending made up for the middle parts of this book. It seemed like something was missing and
George was a little to naive and I agree with Marco hunting after the other princess was a waste of time. Also the middle part and the dukes worshippers were a bit much.
However that being said overall it was a wonderful series and i really enjoyed it
I'm so bummed by the way this series ended. The first book was so strong but for me it just went downhill from there. The pacing was all off and the romance took a backseat. I'm not sure if this is being sold as YA or adult but it definitely felt YA towards the end which I hate to say about fantasy books written by female authors. I went into this with the promise of a sapphic pirate romance and I mean....I sort of got that? But that's definitely not what it was mostly about. Still a fun quick series to fly through if you're interested I wouldn't tell you not to read it but it's not going to be a new favorite for me by any means.
There's a secret in Redmere and George is willing to sacrifice everything to figure out what the Duke is actually up to. With Lou by her side and the help of Maro, Ender, Rosie, Purdita, and some new characters they storm Redmere to over throw the duke, uncover his secrets, and save the children and people of Redmere.
I didn't want to put this book down. The writing took me into Redmere. I was apart of the rebellion, taken to the streets of Redmere, feeling everything they were feeling. The ending was bittersweet. All the amazing characters got their ending they deserved. It ended perfectly with the Pirate and her Princess, together.

I was anxiously awaiting the conclusion of this series and was blown away by it! George and Lou are absolutely fascinating- watching the evolution of their relationship throughout the 3 books has been exciting, sexy and thrilling. I had no idea what to expect for the ending but this surpassed everything - the action, intrigue added with the love and hope was beautifully done. Alli Temple’s talent for world building is exceptional and if you haven’t taken a chance on FF yet, please do so. This is a fantastic series to start.
The adventure continues as George becomes Lou's moral compass, and the princess' heart is set on freeing the people of Redmere from a new form of tyranny. Their fierce love for one another is a force to be reckoned with, as is their dedication to the cause. Their found family of supporting characters are priceless in helping to create the life they only dreamed of. Unleashed is an action-packed ride, and it is a satisfying end to the fantastic The Pirate and Her Princess trilogy. I highly recommend getting in on the fun. I am looking forward to adding the physical book editions to my library.
It take a little bit to get going but once the adventure started things took off. Yes, looking for a queen in all the places around them took time, but did she really want to be queen was the question that should have been asked. To me Neil was more of a distraction to the group yes she did help when needed. George and Lou figured things out finally that when they do things together that is when they accomplished what needed to be done.
“But in the end, my future was love. My future was my past. With George. It was exactly as we’d always been: together.” “The pirate and the princess. Together.” 🤍 Well this is a good 4 stars ⭐️ I loved it a lot !! I was so so satisfied with the ending OMG I WAS ROOTING FOR THIS. I have to say George and Lou are girl bosses ! I loved the characters so much!! It was not a cozy fantasy for sure hihi more of a thriller fantasy. 🏴☠️ x👑
I loved this series! The writing is top notch and the characters have so much depth and dimension that you swear you’ve meet them! If you like intrigue, action, adventure, and romance, pick up The pirate & Her Princess; you want be able to put it down!!
As the first 2 books this was very enjoyable. The politics aspect and new characters could have been more developed, the book being quite short 50-100 more pages couldn't have hurt. I would have also loved more scenes with George and Lou alone and on ships though.
Overall this is series is an easy read when you're in need of a sapphic pirate story. I will probably be reading it again someday.
Thanks for writing these three books, I had been far too maudlin this holiday season, the thrills shook me out and the tender parts brought warmth back into my chest.
A wonderful listen, whether doing embroidery, axe/knife throwing, kickboxing, chores and falling asleep in bed to after staying up way too late listening. Truly books you can bring anywhere... well, at least, with headphones 5/5*
This started a bit slow, but picked up the more adventurous pace of the first books ~20% in. From there it has the light humor and action similar to the first two. Over all a good conclusion for the series.
This trilogy was excellent. I loved the two MC's. Their relationship was beautiful! Each book had its own strengths but together they created an awesome whole with adventure, love and great supporting characters.
a lovely end to such a fun series! this is truly everything i could have wanted out of a queer pirate and princess adventure. i can only hope for more from this world at some point, i particularly hope we learn more about maro and their past 👀
3 stars. I'm glad that I finally finished this series off. This was definitely the best one of the three but I still didn't love it. I never grew attached to these characters or anything but the plot of this one was pretty good and I liked how everything wrapped up.
A dual POV story George is feeling a responsability in helping her people with the new ruler and his cruelty. Lou is sailing across the seas in search of the late king's other proginy so she and Gorge could be free of the responsibilities.
I enjoyed this entire series. I had a difficult time liking the main female character, George, but aside from that, I really enjoyed these books. This one took me longer to get through due to what felt a bit like a slow start, but it was worth it.
This was alright. I got tired of these bitches making the wrong decisions but I guess that writing intrigue. LOL Overall I did enjoy it for all the shit I talk.
These novels were great. Has everything you want including romance and pirates and many adventures. Well written can't wait to check out nice of her novels 🤗.
