I was born many years ago in the American Midwest to a brave immigrant couple who decided to call themselves my parents. They moved around the country until they finally settled in Maryland. As a child I was always scribbling something and my family supported my efforts (with white knuckles and a lot of prayer).

After graduating from college, I worked various jobs and did some freelance writing hoping that one day my writing efforts would make me rich and famous and allow me to quit. That didn’t happen. Instead my last job was made redundant and I decided not to look for a new one. Instead I chose to live on my savings (and mild insanity) and write full time.

I would not recommend this route for other aspiring writers. Either marry well or have three years worth of salary saved. I took the risk because I wanted to and fortunately that same year I received an offer from a publisher for a two book contract–after a thirteen year effort, but that’s another story.

I enjoyed reading Nikki and Lucian's story in Secret Paradise. He the scarred man thinking he would never find love or be deserving of it because of his accident, and Nikki searching for that something or someone. They find each other when Nikki is sent to redecorate Lucian's home after a fire. Secrets and a mystery surround the island but Nikki is determined to mend Lucian's wounded heart and body. Great story and it was a joy to catch up with JD and Monica and learn of what has been going on with them.

I liked that this story had some movement beyond just a romance, the ongoing mystery plot and world building were nicely done. I could have done with a few more scenes between the 2 love interests, but overall I was satisfied with this read.

Sweet romance

I read this book in a day. Very nice suspense filled romantic novel. Easy read so I give it two thumbs up.

This was a sweet read. The story line was good, and it had a bit of mystery thrown in which kept me guessing. Nikki and Lucian had a really sweet courtship. Their attraction was there from their first meeting, and it just built as it went along. There were a couple passionate scenes, but no real love scenes in the book, just the mention of making love, which was ok with me because the storyline really stood on its own. It was also nice catching up with J.D. and Monica from All I Want Is You. It was nice to see that they were still together and going strong. If you like sweet romances I would recommend this one.

Thus was a really good book. I enjoyed all the suspense up to the end. The ending was good too. A must read!!! Lucian learns to love again and Nikki was the right woman to make him feel like a man. She seen past the scars on the outside and helped heal the scars on the inside.

This is the 3rd book I read by Dara Girard. This book's storyline was really good. This story has romance, mystery, & suspense. I really enjoyed how the story begins. I loved Nikki's character. I felt sorry for Lucian. This book is definitely worth reading great job Ms. Girard.

I enjoyed reading the story of Nikki and Lucian. There was enough mystery to keep my attention. The "villian" was predictable but overall it was a great quick read. I liked how Nikki really fought for his love.

Excellent read

Dara Girard hit this book 2 of Dupree Sisters out of the park. I was disappointed in book one but this is the style of writing I'm accustomed to from this author. Really thought Nikkie and Lucian brought the best out in each other.
